Emery’s POV

Emery sat under the dazzling moonlight as she continued reading a book. The day was down so soon and it was one hell of a stressful day. I haven’t seen Kaiser since he rushed out, and I don’t know what’s going on.

About the Fae, it pains me that nobody told me about them on time, I would be glad to have help, after all, I know a lot about them through books.

I felt a change in the air as the scent of lavender waft my nose. My mate.

“Hey, come seat!” I called out to him after cranking my neck towards his direction.

“How do you know I was here? Wanted to sneak on you” He said looking all sad, and I laughed.

“How was it?” I asked the moment he sat on the field with me.

“He escaped before I got there,” Kaiser replied, hanging his hand on my neck.

“Oh my! He knew I have blown him up” I laughed.

We fell silent, and I suddenly lost interest in reading my book. I kept glancing at him repeatedly as excitement was eating me up.

I never knew a day like this would come when I would sit close to my mate without being scared or without sadness in my heart or tears in my eyes and without being scared that Lilian would be coming to steal him away.

“Spill it out” He blurted.

“Spill what out?”

“You want to ask something? Then go on,” he said, pulling me closer.

Jeez! How is he aware about that? I actually have questions to ask him, and it’s all about himself.

Sparkles put me up to this.

“Kaiser?” I called, and he faced me.

“Who broke your heart?” His eyes quickly darted away from mine, and it was so clear. He was once heartbroken, but by whom?

Did he have his first mate and then lose her, or did he reject her because of circumstances like the curse on them? Which of it?

“What are you talking about?” He laughed after a minute.

“Listen Kai, I will tell you things about me and you will do the same, but if you don’t want to tell me now, then it’s okay…” I trailed off, straightening my back.

“Everyone in my pack sees me as human, they mock me, they tease me, and I don’t know maybe it’s because I’m the Luna, but no one in your pack has ever made me look down on myself. I barely have people I talk to in mine pack, except a friend who stuck around with me; aside from her, there’s no one else. In your pack I have people to talk to and mingle with, Mateo is always there for me, Beta Lucky, Becca, Mia, and other omegas who are ready to keep me company.”

“At first I wanted to run away when I knew you were my mate, I mean, who wouldn’t be scared of you? The big bad wolf. Until I saw her, Lilian. I said to myself that I don’t care if you like her or not, but I just couldn’t. I became so jealous because you were my mate and mine alone. Then why are you with her? Why are you with another girl and not me? Am I not beautiful enough?

I was yearning for you, and I can’t resist you each time you touch me, do you know why?” I paused, staring at him, and his eyes were also on me .

“You exceeded my expectations. Everyone knows the big bad wolf for looking ugly, scarred, and miserable like a beast, but you, you’re nothing like that description. When I saw you at the party, you took me away. You have short black hair with a matching pair of black eyes, full lips, and a carved face, your chiseled chest and physique are just superb. You're built more like a demi god and when you called me mate, I was taken away until I learned you were the big bad wolf.

I was like, what happened to the scarred man? Where’s the beast that was rumored about? Hehe…then I ran because I was scared that maybe it’s a mask…” I chew on my lips before moving so close to him that there was no space between us.

“All those hatred I gathered for you was just a facade to build something else. The pains I passed through were simply a way to know it all that I…. I Emery Callus, love you, Alpha Kaiser”

“I know we started roughly, but it’s not too late to start afresh. My heart is aching for you, and I don’t expect you to reciprocate it back quickly. “He isn’t saying anything, Sparkles,” I called out to her in worry.

“Just give him a minute,” she advised, and I nodded.

Kaiser’s hands fell on my hair after a while, and before I could say anything, he captured my lips.

“You’re saying my words mate, fuck you, make me feel like an high school girl” He jested as he deepened the kiss.
