Chapter 3

Author: Crystal K
"What a wonderful farce."

I walked to the center of the crowd, my cold gaze sweeping over the guards on the floor and Gene's bitter face.

"Carys, don't let him fool you," Alistair hurried over, trying to keep up his fake affectionate mask. "This thin-blood is extremely dangerous. He almost ruined our banquet."

I ignored him and raised my right hand.

"The library holds my clan's most precious ancient scrolls. Did you really think I'd leave it unguarded?"

A drop of blood seeped from my fingertip, and I flicked it into the air.

"The ancient 'Bloodline Recall' spell left by my ancestors never lies."

Fueled by magic, a blinding scarlet mist exploded in midair.

A massive, crystal-clear memory projection instantly replayed above everyone's heads.

In the projection, the three elite guards sneered and drew their holy water daggers.

They cornered Silas.

The vicious threats, the deadly strikes—every detail, every word echoed clearly in the banquet hall.

And Silas only defended himself.

The truth was out.

The crowd erupted. The nobles' looks toward Alistair and Gene changed instantly.

The three guards on the floor turned deathly pale, trembling violently.

Gene's jaw dropped, her beautiful face contorted like a clown's.

[It's over. It's completely over!]

She screamed internally, terrified.

[Damn it! Why didn't these useless fools just kill him!]

I looked coldly at Gene's white face. I felt nothing.

Silas stepped out of the shadows.

He stopped in front of me, bowing his head slightly, his tone calm and humble.

"I am very sorry, Lady Carys." He looked at me, neither arrogant nor submissive. "An antique candelabra was broken during the fight. I will take full responsibility for the damages."

I looked at him, a very faint smile touching my lips.

"Don't worry about it," I said lightly, just loud enough for the whole room to hear. "It's just a candelabra. It's not as important as dignity."

Silas paused. A strong spark of interest ignited in his deep eyes.

The color drained from Alistair's face.

Slapped in the face in front of everyone, he could only grit his teeth, turn around, and viciously kick the lead guard in the chest.

"You useless pieces of trash!" Alistair roared, desperately trying to save face. "How dare you draw holy water behind my back! Get out of my sight and await your death penalty!"

[Bitch! How dare Carys humiliate me in public!]

Alistair roared in his mind.

[Once I fully control your clan's resources, I'll make you beg on your knees!]

The next second, the heavy toll of the bone bell echoed through the castle.

It was time to seal the Blood Oath.

Alistair instantly slipped back behind his flawless mask.

He eagerly walked up to me, gently taking my hand.

"Darling, don't let these idiots ruin our mood," he said, his eyes burning with absolute lust for power. "No matter what, nothing will stop our sacred union."

[Let's just get this over with. Once the contract is signed, tonight's humiliation won't matter at all.]

I let him lead me. Under the awestruck gaze of the entire vampire nobility, we slowly walked up to the towering obsidian altar.

In the center sat the vial of thousand-year holy blood, radiating a dark, sweet scent.

Alistair's breathing grew heavy.

He picked up the ceremonial bone dagger, his eyes locked on my wrist, ready to slice my vein and mix our blood.

With this single cut, my wealth and my clan would be his to share.

"To our eternity," he murmured passionately, raising the dagger high.

Just as the blade was about to touch my skin.

I let him raise the dagger. Then I smiled and ripped my hand away.

Alistair swung at the air, the bone dagger freezing in midair.

The entire hall fell dead silent.

Everyone stared in shock at the sudden turn on the altar.

Alistair looked up in disbelief, his eyes full of confusion. "Carys... what are you doing?"

I looked down at him from above, speaking slowly.

"Alistair. The catacombs guarding the holy blood are my clan's most ancient forbidden ground."

I took a step forward, my gaze piercing his soul like a blade.

"What made you think... the library is the only place with a Bloodline Recall spell?"

Alistair's affectionate, hypocritical face instantly drained of all color.

His eyes widened in horror. His perfect mask shattered completely.

Watching his trembling body, I coldly spat out the final words.

"This Blood Oath ceremony is canceled."

I wore a wedding dress woven inch by inch from moonlight silk by three hundred blind blood-witches over a century. The skirt flowed with silver magic like a galaxy.Silas and I sat on obsidian thrones, swearing the eternal Blood Oath of absolute loyalty.A year later.Deep within the Grand Cathedral, the oldest fertility matrix glowed bright red.Through the most grueling vampire rituals, I gave birth to twins carrying perfectly pure Progenitor bloodlines. The day the news broke, the entire vampire world was shaken.Old Prince Valerius, who had always resented me, personally came to my palace. He brought priceless treasures and even offered a prosperous city as a gift.Sitting high on the throne, I calmly accepted his fealty. As he bowed to kiss the hem of my dress, I heard the proud old man's thoughts.[Her methods are incredibly ruthless. Six months passed.Since the night of the "Crimson Gala," Evernight City's power map was completely redrawn.I leaned back in the castle study, flipping through intelligence reports.Over the past six months, I used my telepathy to help Silas precisely root out every traitor in the Council. Now, Silas was the supreme ruler of the empire. And I was his sole ally."Lady Carys..."A sickening stench drifted in from the hallway.A few low-level ghouls carried a rotting, makeshift rattan chair, stopping fearfully at my door.Slumped in the chair was a puddle of mud.It was Alistair. He was covered in filth, his once-prized custom suit reduced to dirty rags. The worst part was his legs. The wounds he suffered that night on the altar hadn't been treated with high-grade blood. The holy water had completely corroded them down to the bone."Carys... please..." Alistair struggled to lift his head. "Just a little blood... just a drop... for old times' sake..."He tried to reach for my dress.I sta

This force carried a sickeningly cheap scent.I turned around.Gene stepped out of the shadows. She was covered in wine and cake stains, her expensive dress clinging to her in wrinkled ruins. Her once-flawless makeup was a mess of tears and rage, her eyes bloodshot. She had used her meager magic to lock the door."Is this what you wanted?!" Gene screamed hysterically. "Are you proud of yourself, watching me get treated like filth?!"She glared at me, jealousy and venom practically spilling from her eyes.[Why! Why does she get all the good things?! Silas is a Progenitor Prince, and he still chose her?! I'm going to ruin her face! I'll make her wish she was dead!]Gene let out a shrill screech and threw her hands up.A ball of murky, foul-smelling voodoo necromancy venom formed in her palm and launched straight at my face! She wanted to disfigure me.I sneered.Without even bothering to cast a spell, I simply raised my hand.Smack! My fingers closed around her wrist like a steel trap. Their painstakingly built status in the Council crumbled in an instant.I stared coldly at the two stray dogs crawling in the dirt, then turned and left without looking back.A few days later.I stood in my castle's potions lab, expertly brewing a cauldron of boiling dragon's blood. The crimson liquid bubbled, radiating thick magical energy.A black night-raven flew through the window and landed on my workstation. In its beak was a black-and-gold invitation.I wiped my hands and picked it up.It was an invitation to the "Crimson Gala."The most exclusive power-broker event for all North American vampire clans. As soon as I touched the wax seal, the dark gold card ignited in midair, and Silas's deep, sexy voice whispered in my ear: "The gala awaits its Queen. Don't keep us waiting."The "Crimson Gala" was held at the Grand Cathedral of Evernight. The highest-tier pureblood nobles were all gathered.Wearing a deep red velvet evening gown, I had barely stepped into the hall when my path w

Gene stared at the smuggling ledger, her whole body shaking violently."This is a forgery!" she shrieked, pointing at me. "You faked this to frame me!"I sneered and took a step closer."A forgery? The voodoo stench on this parchment hasn't even faded." I swept a cold look over the low-level servants. "How about we invite the High Council's Heresy Inquisitor over? Let them see for themselves who's been making deals with New Orleans voodoo priests."The servants instantly backed away like she had the plague."I saw her sneaking out in the middle of the night!""She's gonna get us all killed and burned at the stake!"The servants' accusations stabbed at Gene like knives. Her face twisted in pure terror."Bitch! Give me that ledger!"An explosive roar suddenly erupted from the main doors.A haggard Alistair stormed out of the main house. His eyes were bloodshot as he lunged at me, trying to snatch the fatal evidence.I didn't even blink. With a slight twitch of my fingers, a thick whip of

Midnight. Moonlight spilled across the castle courtyard.A tall, lean silhouette leaned against a gargoyle statue. It was Silas. He had changed out of his cheap waiter uniform into a perfectly tailored black shirt. The powerful shadow bloodline pulsed around him. Even the air seemed twisted by his power, exuding a suffocating, lethal charm.Flipping a silver coin, he raised his dark eyes to look at me."A brilliant performance," his voice was a low rumble in the dark. "You are every bit the ally I hoped for, Carys."[Ruthless enough, and smart enough. Compared to that brainless pretty face Gene, this is a truly top-tier prize.]Hearing his thoughts, I chuckled."Ally? Silas, you're currently just a dumped 'thin-blood'."He shrugged carelessly and stepped closer. The dangerous aura of a pureblood Progenitor instantly wrapped around me."Do you want to completely uproot Alistair's power?" He stared into my eyes, his tone filled with naked ambition. "Pull out all his fangs and turn him in
