Jeju Island – Midnight

Waves slammed against the rocky cliffs like war drums. A storm hovered just off the coast, heavy clouds threatening rain but holding it in a tense pause, like the world itself was waiting.

Three figures stood at the edge of the private airstrip, overlooking a darkened military convoy below.

Soo-ah zipped up his black tactical jacket. The sleeves bore no insignia, no crest. This wasn’t a Lee family mission.

It was war.

Sang-woo stepped beside him, gaze sharp, jaw tight. His movements were precise. Controlled.

But Devin stood apart.

He stared into the ocean like it was speaking to him.

“She’s here,” he said softly.

Soo-ah turned to him. “You’re sure?”

Devin nodded once.

“I can feel her.”

Yuri’s warning echoed in Soo-ah’s mind: One of you is not who they seem.

And now they were flying into battle beside the brother who used to be a ghost.

Soo-ah didn’t know which was scarier: the enemies they were about to face, or the secrets still hanging between them.

Dawn — Lee Estate, BalconyThe sky cracked open with light, but it offered no warmth. Smoke still curled from the east wing, and the charred remnants of the once-pristine garden lay blackened beneath Naelle’s boots. She stood barefoot on the cold tiles of the balcony, her arms wrapped around herself though she wasn’t cold. Her eyes were locked on the crater left behind by Koji’s sacrifice. She hadn’t moved for hours. She hadn’t cried either. The wind tugged at the hem of her coat, and behind her, Yuri finally stepped out.“We’re rebuilding the wing,” Yuri said softly. “Devin called in a specialist team.”Naelle didn’t respond.“He’d hate that we’re mourning him like this.”Naelle’s voice was flat. “He’d hate a lot of things.”Yuri stepped beside her. “He chose it.”“He shouldn’t have had to.”Yuri looked down at her hands. They were raw from digging through rubble the night before.“This war isn’t fair. You know that.”Naelle looked up at the clouds.“I just thought… if we were strong

Day Three – The Battle BeginsThe first missile hit the outer gate.Steel screamed. The shockwave sent stone and smoke into the sky, shattering the front watchtower and throwing two guards backward like rag dolls.Naelle didn’t flinch. She was already running, Devin and Sang-woo at her sides. The moment the flames reached the walls, the war began.Bullets rained like hail. Sniper fire cracked from the rooftops. The estate’s defenses kicked to life—auto-turrets roared, mines ignited, and the perimeter wall lit up with controlled flame bursts, creating a ring of searing heat.Yuri commanded from the comm room, directing teams like a conductor in chaos.“Northwest breach imminent. Kai’s unit, flank now. Koji, I need drones on the eastern roof.”“On it!” Koji’s voice snapped through the static.Naelle reached the northern courtyard just as the Council’s front line crashed through. Their foot soldiers moved in tight formations, dressed in reinforced combat suits with the red sigil of the C

Day One — Lee Estate, War RoomThe council broadcast still echoed through the mansion’s halls like a death sentence etched in static.Naelle stood at the head of the war table, shoulders squared, her voice sharper than the crackling storm outside. “They gave us three days. That’s three days too many.”Sang-woo leaned over the tactical map, hands planted firmly on the edge. “The Council isn’t bluffing. They’ve never given this kind of warning before.”Yuri swiped the display. Satellite feeds flickered into place. “They’ll strike from the northern range. Narrow, covered in dense trees. They could hide an entire army there.”Koji added, “But it’s predictable. That’s their mistake.”Devin stood in the corner, arms crossed, silent until now. “No, it’s not. They’re baiting us. They want us to meet them at the mountain to pull our forces away from the estate.”Naelle nodded slowly. “Then we let them believe it worked. Pull out just enough troops. Set charges on the ridge. Trap them.”Koji ta

Nightfall – Lee Estate, War RoomRain hit the windows hard. Outside, the mountains were hidden behind a veil of fog. Inside, a silence weighed on them heavier than any weapon.Naelle stood beside Yuri, eyes locked on the hologram projected in the center of the war table: a Council emblem, rotating slowly like a target just waiting to be hit.“They finally called,” Koji said.Yuri crossed her arms. “What do they want?”Koji paused. “Naelle.”Of course.Naelle didn’t even blink. “What did they offer?”Ko

Lee Estate – The Main Hall, AfternoonRain drummed quietly outside, a soft hum against the estate's tall windows. Sang-woo stood before the grand portrait of their father, framed above the hearth like a king who never died. His jaw was clenched, eyes burning with fury. The double doors opened behind him. Their father entered, cloak soaked from the downpour. His expression remained unreadable."You sent her into a war zone," Sang-woo said."She went on her own," his father replied.Sang-woo turned. "Because you kept the truth from us. About Devin. About Arin. About her."The old man sighed. "What good would it have done to tell you? You were boys. And she was never supposed to survive.""She did. And she remembered."The father walked past him, sitting in his usual chair. "Then the game begins."Sang-woo stepped forward. "I’m not playing."His father tilted his head

Lee Estate – Rooftop Garden, MidnightThe wind was gentle, brushing through the moonlit flowers like a breath from another life. Naelle sat curled beneath a wool blanket, eyes distant, lost somewhere between dream and dread. She was holding the broken shard from the Herald again. Its glow had long faded — and yet she couldn’t part with it.“Couldn’t sleep?” Devin’s voice came softly behind her.She didn’t look up. “I heard his voice again. Arin’s.”Devin stepped forward. “What did he say?”Naelle swallowed. “Nothing. Just… my name. Like he used to. Before
