Nia's POV

"Take them off."

I choked on my saliva and became a coughing mess. I was sure I heard him wrong. What boss would say that to their employee on their first day?

My boss of course was not normal so those words could have been exactly what was said.

"I'm sorry sir I don't think I heard you correctly. Did you ask me to take my clothes off?" I asked hoping I heard him wrong.

"That is what I said. The smell gives me a headache and you being this close to me isn't making it better so take your clothes off." he replied.

"I'm sorry sir but I can't take my clothes off I didn't bring a change of clothes, so I have nothing to wear if I take this off." I tried to reason.

He looked at me and walked away towards one of the doors on the right of the office next to the huge sofa and opened it before bringing out this beautiful dress.

So, it was a closet.

It was black fitted dress and with white stripes going vertically and short sleeves and a bateau neckline. It wasn't short but wasn't long either, it seemed like it reached around my knees which was pretty good considering my 5'7 height. It was fit for the workplace but looked expensive.

"You will wear this and get out of those rancid clothes before my headache becomes a migraine." he stated.

I gaped at him in surprise. Over my dead body was I putting on that dress I'm pretty sure one of his little girlfriends left it here and it's way too expensive.

"No one has worn this before you and don't think about the price it's for me to think about after all I'm doing this for my health." he explained.

How does he do that. I swear he's always reading my mind, it's quite annoying and scary.

I nodded and took the dress, walking towards the door to go in search outside to find a bathroom to change in.

"There is no need to leave you can change here." he stated as I was leaving.

I once again choked on my saliva from the open minded and nonchalant words of my boss.

"Before you get any ideas, I have no desire to see you naked I don't fool around with my employees there is a bathroom right there," he said pointing to other door in the huge office "you can change there."

I quickly nodded and made my way to grab my bag and headed into the bathroom with the change of clothes.

This doesn't feel real at all. I mean who else's boss tells them to change cause of the smell of food. What is up with him and his expensive taste. Would he rather that I smelled like lobster and caviar.

Regardless I've already taken the dress and entered the bathroom, so I had no other choice but to change.

Once inside I was shocked to find that the bathroom was no normal bathroom for an office. It held a toilet, sink and a shower. It was slightly bigger than most bathrooms and was completely white from top to bottom.  The shower was at the back and was the size was my closet with the toilet on the right side of the door and a huge undermount sink in front and a mirror over it. Right beside the mirror was a cabinet painted in black; the only non-white thing here.

Soon I was in the dress and walked out of the bathroom with my clothes from earlier stuffed in my bag.

Mr. Andrews looked up at me, an unrecognizable look flashed in eyes before he made a sound of approval and simply told me to get back to work.

I quickly did as I was told and went right back into auto pilot and just started doing what was asked of me without question.

Soon it was already knock-off time, but Mr. Andrews showed no intention of leaving anytime soon so I was left sitting there hoping he would tell me I was free to go but he showed no intention of doing that either.

"Ms. Richardson you may leave I have no further use for you if there is anything I would like for you to do I will call you so please keep your phone close, on and not on vibrate or mute." he said in the quiet of the office and I was ready to leap for joy.

"Yes, sir see you tomorrow." I said quickly packing up and leaving before he could change his mind.

I was walking to the elevator with a smile and humming a tune.

Sweet, sweet home here I come.

Once in my car I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

I made my way home thinking Claire wouldn't be there cause most days she's out late but as my recent luck would have it, she was and the first thing she realized was I was wearing a dress that did not belong to my closet.

"Should I ask or you just gonna save us both sometime and tell me why you're wearing something you most definitely didn't leave the house in?" she inquired, raising her brows.

"How do you know I didn't leave the house like this after all you were asleep when I left." I shot back.

"Well for one because I know you're closet better than you, I mean for God's sake I steal your clothes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly so start talking." she replied smug.

"My boss made me change because I smelt cheap apparently."

"Cheap. How did you smell cheap?" she asked me confused.

I carefully explained everything to her while changing and soon heading to the bathroom to take a shower. She followed me into the bathroom because of her curiosity.

"Did he really say take it off?" she asked.

"Yes Claire, he told me to take it off." I answered.

"Wow., you're literally living a romance story from a book or movie." she exclaimed. "You guys are so gonna end up together." she said with a dreamy voice.

"Claire there's no way he'll ever be interested in me, and he has better options, and he seems to take them into consideration if our first meeting is anything to go off of." I argued.

Claire simply rolled her eyes and left.

She thinks of me as the type that may never fall in love; I may die alone.

I had a boyfriend a year ago, but he cheated on me because apparently, I was too much of a prude for him. He said he loved me, but he was man, whatever that means. I was very happy that I didn't sleep with him and wanted to wait because I was sure that I would regret it. But after that I just gave up on love.

As soon as I was out of the shower my phone started ringing. I picked it up and realized it was my boss.

What could he possibly want at 8 in the night after I just left the office.

"Hello?" I answered the phone.

"It took you three rings to pick up that's way too much Ms. Richardson." he replied from the other side. "Moving on I need you to come to the office now no questions asked and ensure you don't smell like some five-dollar beef." he said before hanging up and giving me no chance to reply.

He seriously meant it when he said I was on the clock 24/7.

I heard a notification sound from my phone only to realize it was a message from my boss.

DEMON: You have 45 minutes.

That did it. Now I was running around like a headless chicken trying to get ready to see what my boss could possibly need from me on a Tuesday night after 8.

But nothing I thought of was actually right.

Lia's POVI flopped onto my bed with a groan, burying my face in the pillow. The pit in my stomach twisted tighter with every second. I wasn’t sure if it was guilt or fear, probably both. Maybe I should’ve just gone in and pretended everything was fine, even though it clearly wasn’t.But pretending was exhausting. And I was tired. So, so tired.I stared at the ceiling, mentally preparing myself for the inevitable fallout. Mr. Andrews was many things intimidating, brilliant, infuriating but he wasn’t someone you could easily avoid. Not for long. Especially not when he had a way of being everywhere all at once. I had no doubt my little sick-day stunt was already causing chaos in his meticulously organized calendar.Good.The thought made me smile just a little. But it quickly faded. I wasn’t trying to sabotage anything, really. I just needed a break from the coldness, the confusion, the mixed signals. The retreat had been the final straw. What kind of fashion assistant was sent to a tec

I picked up my phone off the desk beside my bed, my hands trembling as I brought it closer.I opened, swiping until I got to his contact. I stared at it contemplating if a message would suffice. I don’t think I would be able to call him. I don’t think I could survive if I heard his voice.I took a deep breath concluding that a text would be better. After sending the message I quickly turned my phone off setting it back on the bedside table.Turning over, closing my eyes saying a small prayer I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.I doubt he would take my message well. He already got me going on business trips to tech r

Nia's POVI could hear the click of his pen, I could hear him breathe, each breath matching mine. I could almost feel the heat rolling off him as if it left him in search of me. As if to ensure that something of his was on me to mark me as his.The conversation from earlier replayed in my head.I knew that whatever defence I pretended to have wasn’t going to last long.My eyes were zoned on the time desperately praying that it would move faster. The clicking sound stopped and my body froze I could feel his eyes on me.Goosebumps covered me and my breath hitched; but I refused to look at him.I prayed for a distraction something to save me from whatever this was. • My Nightmare Boss   Chapter 28

Nia's POVMonday came far too quickly. The office was quieter than usual, the kind of quiet that filled your lungs and made it hard to breathe. I arrived early intentionally. I needed time. To brace. To build walls. To pretend I was still in control. The plan was simple: keep my head down, stay busy, and avoid Mr. Andrews at all costs.Which, in theory, would’ve worked… if he weren’t already in his office when I walked in.He looked up when I entered. I didn’t meet his gaze. Just nodded, dropped off the files on his desk, and made my way over to mine.“Ms. Richardson,” he said, voice smooth. Controlled.I stopped. Didn’t turn around.“Yes, sir?”A pause. A long one. Then, “Come here."Please.” he added when he realized I made no move to do as he ordered. My stomach twisted. I obeyed, slowly, carefully, as if moving might trigger some sort of emotional landmine. When I faced him again, he wasn’t seated. He was standing beside his desk, jacket off, sleeves rolled to his elbows.Dangerou

  • My Nightmare Boss   Chapter 27

Nia's POVI perfected the art of avoidance. For the rest of the conference, I kept conversations short, my answers clipped, my expressions neutral. If Mr. Andrews noticed, he didn’t show it.Or maybe he was giving me space.Unlikely.More probable? He was biding his time.He was a patient predator. But I refused to give him any more openings. The second day blurred by in a haze of panels, awkward luncheons, and over-eager executives who kept mistaking me for a receptionist instead of his executive assistant.Good.Let them underestimate me.It made it easier to disappear into the background, exactly where I wanted to be.When the final panel ended, I gathered my things with robotic precision, eager to put as much distance between me and him as possible.Unfortunately, business trips had an annoying way of forcing proximity whether you wanted it or not.The flight home loomed, and we were booked on the same one.Of course.By the time the car arrived at the airport, the silence between

  • My Nightmare Boss   Chapter 26

Nia's POVThe morning air was heavy with nerves, caffeine, and the buzz of important men in overpriced suits.I wasn’t sure which of the three suffocated me more. The panel hall was packed, executives, investors, journalists, all here to watch the power players parade their carefully crafted images. And, of course, Mr. Andrews was centre stage.I kept to the sidelines, tablet in hand, expression blank.Professional.Untouchable.But inside? I was anything but.Last night replayed over and over in my head like a song stuck on loop. The way he’d claimed me. The way he’d touched me. The way I hated that I hadn’t pushed him harder to stop.I was drowning in it.And the worst part?He acted like nothing happened. Not a glance. Not a word. Not even when Peter Mallon, sleazy RidgeTech executive and certified snake walked past me with an extra-long stare this morning.Mr. Andrews stood at the podium, poised, cold, commanding, fielding questions like the arrogant bastard he was born to be.B
