“Okay I walked in, can I leave now.”

“Not without getting at least one phone number,” Diego insists. “I’d prefer it if you didn’t need it because one of these hot ladies takes you home, but I am willing to give you a bit of grace if you at least make an effort.”

"Gee, thanks Santiago," I roll my eyes. "Of course, I am doing this all for your blessing."

“Don't sound so bitter, little brother, not on your birthday,” my other older brother, Bonito pulls me into his chest. "You are 21 now. A real man. You can handle a few women," he bends down so that his head is level with my own and whispers encouragingly, “They won't bite, I promise. A handsome boy like you should have no problem charming any of these lovely ladies."

"So," Diego interupts, waving his hand around as if presenting me with a promised land full of bounty. "Which one are you gonna try?” he then begins talking about each one as if they were an assortment of chocolates and not living, breathing people. “The one in the corner, she looks fun,”

“The brunette?” Chicha leans in. As the only girl in our entourage, you might think she's the voice of reason. You'd be wrong. “Nah, I think I know her from law school. Marisol. Total slut entrapment gold digger. More baby daddies than I have shoes,” she clicks her teeth. “Little bro can do better.” She then points to a girl wearing glasses sitting alone at the bar. “She’s a redhead, and she’s smart. Look at the size of that book! I bet you can talk to her about all your geeky mythology lore and she’d think you were all suave.”

My face is turning redder and redder as I stand there, listening to my older siblings try to “help” me have a sexual adventure before leaving to go to school. Being a 21-year-old virgin is so horrifying to them that they want to cure me of my affliction before I move south for school.

“What about her?” Bonito points across the bar at a long-legged blonde.

“Sweet Jeeeezus, put your hand down,” Chicha hisses hiding behind her hand, light bouncing off of her red acrylic nails. “Did you see that, now they’re looking at us now? Holy Mary Mother of God, why do I try to do anything with you buffoons."

“You know what, guys, I’m just going to go over there,” I point to an open stool at the bar.

They don’t even notice me leaving.

As I take my seat, a warm, soft body brushes past me smelling sweetly of honeysuckle and jasmine. One long-fingered hand comes around my shoulder, catching my eye as she takes the seat next to me at the bar. She is too beautiful to be real, like a woman straight from the cover of a fashion magazine, as if she has been crafted from marble and airbrushed to perfection before being allowed outside. Her hair, a warm honey blond, is pinned up to show off her graceful neck and bring attention to her perfectly heart-shaped face, her thin brows arching over stunning gray-blue eyes.

I must have been staring because when I make eye contact, her smile widens and she laughs. “Did you hear my question?”

“I’m sorry,” I apologize. “I was…”

“Distracted,” she finishes for me while tracing the edges of the white bodice of her

sleeveless dress. Her only jewelry is a gold ring on a long golden chain that hangs down into her cleavage, I wonder how far it…”

Her laughter, bell-clear with crystalline edges, pulls something tight and hard in my groin, bringing me to attention with a sharp gasp of pain. I find myself turning towards her laughter, finding it irresistible.

“I was wondering if you would like me to buy you a drink, handsome.” She smiles.

“Me?” I look around to see if there is anyone else she could be talking to.

“Of course,” her smile widens.”I don’t see anyone else here I’d like to spend time with tonight.”

My siblings are nowhere in sight and this whole situation smells suspiciously of their work. Leaning closer to her I whisper “Did my family pay you to do this?” I try to be discreet. “You don’t have to do this, you know. I can find my date.”

She shakes her head and smiles at me again, her eyes sparkling. “Do you have no idea the effect you have on women?” she asks. “You have a deliciously sweet aura about you that is irresistible and charming. You have an amazing body and a face to match. You are easily one of the most handsome men in this club.”

I look around and I know she cannot be telling me the truth. “I think you might be mistaken,” I cough. “I’m sure there are at least three firemen here, some high-class lawyers and…”

She stands up and closes the gap between us, placing her body on the edge of the stool, forcing me to open my legs to make room for her. Our faces are just inches apart as she uses one of her long fingernails to trace the front of my shirt down to my pants. Her gaze is heated as her hands move to my thighs, squeezing lightly. Her eyes seem larger as she looks up at me, biting her lip as she says.”I know exactly who I meant. If I say you are the most handsome man here, you are. Come with me.”

Grabbing my hand, she pulls me away from the bar, leading me into the dark hallway near the door. Guiding me through the darkness, she rattles open a door, and leads me inside a private use bathroom about the size of a small closet, with a single toilet, a sink, and a mirror. Pushing me down onto the seat, she locks the door behind us.
