Drake POV

His phone rang again.

This time, Rowan pulled it out and answered without even bothering to look at the screen.

His expression immediately soured. “What the hell is going on with you? I don't have time to deal with you, Lucas.”

He waited for a few seconds, listening to whoever was on the other end before his entire demeanor changed.

“Oh, sorry, Mrs. Finn. I will calm him down now.”

Mrs. Finn?

“...”

“Yes, ma'am. Don't worry. I apologize for the earlier outburst.” He ended the call and slowly lowered his phone.

I stared at him.

So...Lucas was apparently a problem.

And Mrs. Finn was the unfortunate woman who had to deal with him. My gaze drifted over Rowan as he fumbles with his phone.

A crazy boyfriend and a sharp-tongued physiotherapist. What an interesting combination.

The house there must be hot.

Very hot.

I almost snorted at the thought.

Judging from Rowan's attitude, I could already imagine the arguments.

Lucas probably did something stupid, Rowan yelled at the crazy work done and Mrs. Finn stepped in to calm them down.

Then Lucas probably did something even stupider again.

A never-ending cycle.

I shook my head.

Why was I even thinking about their relationship? It wasn't my business, not even remotely.

Yet somehow, my mind had already created an entire picture of what their household must be like.

I looked at Rowan again.

He was already typing something on his phone, completely oblivious to the ridiculous story I'd just created in my head.

I frowned.

For someone who had only been in my life for a few hours, this man had somehow managed to occupy far too much space in my thoughts.

That was starting to get under my werewolf skin.

“I'm so sorry for the drama you just witnessed. Sorry, sorry.” He gave me an apologetic smile, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

I tug my top to act nonchalant. “You seem to have a lot of drama following you around.”

He chuckled. “Unfortunately, it seems to like me.”

His phone rang again.

Again, he picked it up without checking the screen.

It was probably on speaker or something because the voice on the other end was loud enough for me to hear clearly.

And judging by the first few words, the person behind the call was far crazier than I'd imagined.

Hmm... That must be Lucas.

I mentally sighed. Tsk. Things were about to go down.

“Lucas, don't make me make a disastrous choice you'll regret every bit of, you hear me?”

The voice from the phone barked so loudly that even I could hear it clearly. “I will destroy everything you own if you don't come here right now!”

Ooh, an adult tantrum. I thought, but Rowan didn't even flinch.

“What more can a spineless coward do?” he snapped. “I dare you, Lucas. Destroy anything there and see if you won't spend the night in jail.”

There was a brief silence.

Well...That was certainly one way to handle a crazy person.

Whatever was going on between those two, it was definitely far more complicated than I'd initially assumed.

And somehow, I was beginning to suspect Rowan's life was even more chaotic than mine.

Then Lucas spoke again. "Ahhhhh! What about your parents' Moon Gem stone? The fucking jewelry you refused to let me sell!”

A loud crash came through the phone.

Then another.

The unmistakable sound of breaking glass coming out of the phone.

My amusement disappeared. Hmm...that didn't sound good.

It sounded like someone was tearing through a room. Was this idiot actually breaking into Rowan's house?

Rowan suddenly changed, the smugness vanishing from his face.

His eyes widened, and his grip tightened around the phone.

“Lucas...” His voice dropped dangerously low. “What did you just do?”

Another crash sounded from the other end.

Rowan's face paled. The mention of the jewelry had clearly hit a nerve.

“Don't you fucking touch anything in that house.” His voice was no longer teasing.

There was genuine panic underneath it.

I narrowed my eyes, studying him more carefully. Something about the way his fingers tightened around the phone told me this was more serious than he wanted me to believe.

Interesting.

So the Moon Gem stone wasn't just some random piece of jewelry.

Whatever it was, it mattered to Rowan.

A lot.

And Lucas knew it. Which meant this wasn't some childish argument between two idiots anymore.

Lucas had found the one thing that could make Rowan panic.

Lucas's maniacal laughter echoed through the phone. “I'll give you five minutes to get here, or else I'll break your parents' precious jewelry they gave you.”

My eyebrows shot up. Five minutes?

This man was actually serious.

I glanced at Rowan again.

A few seconds ago, he had been standing there confidently throwing threats at Lucas, but now his shoulders had stiffened, his fingers were trembling around the phone, and all the color had drained from his face.

His fingers tightened around the phone until his knuckles turned white. The Moon Gem stone must have been extremely important.

And judging by Rowan's expression, he wasn't going to explain it to me.

Anyways we don't have any close relationship for him to tell me.

I watched him swallow hard. Who the hell was this Lucas?

And what kind of relationship did they have for Lucas to know exactly what to threaten?

My curiosity slowly turned into concern.

I didn't like that.

I barely knew this man.

He was nosy, irritating, ridiculously sharp-tongued, and had somehow managed to get under my skin within a few hours.

Yet here I was, watching his entire demeanor crumble because some lunatic was threatening something precious to him.

I hated that I cared.

But I did, and for the first time since meeting Rowan, I wasn't amused by his chaos.

I wanted to know what that Moon Gem stone meant to him.

More importantly...

I wanted to know why the thought of losing it scared him this much.

Rowan POVI hurried after Drake, barely managing to keep up with the speed at which he dragged me away from the stadium. He hadn't explained anything, and the strange look in his eyes had only made me more nervous.By the time we reached the locker room, my breathing was already uneven, but before I could ask another question, Drake pulled me inside and shut the door behind us.“Drake, what is going on with you?”He didn't answer immediately. His entire body was trembling, his shoulders rising and falling rapidly as though he were struggling to breathe, while his hands repeatedly clenched into fists before relaxing again. Something was obviously wrong, but whatever it was, he seemed unable to explain it.“Please, help me,” he finally managed, his voice strained as he pressed a hand against his head. “Why does it have to be you?”I stared at him, completely confused by his words. “What are you seeing? What is happening to you?”He suddenly looked at me, and the sight of his red eyes se

Drake POV Apparently, the morning wasn't going to end without another headache.Slowly, I turned my head toward the man standing in the hallway. “What?”He hesitated before glancing at the damage around the house. “About what happened here—”“Don't.” My voice came out colder than intended. He swallowed.“Just because I didn't hit you doesn't mean you're free to do whatever you want with what happened today.” My eyes narrowed. “If you decide to publicize any of this, go ahead. Tell whoever you want.”A humorless smile touched my lips. “But you'd better have a very good lawyer ready when I come looking for you.”The man's expression changed immediately.I didn't wait for his response. There were more important things to worry about than an overconfident 'supposed' friend with a loud mouth.Rowan groaned weakly against my chest, and my attention immediately returned to him.Right now, getting Rowan somewhere safe mattered more than anything else.I carefully settled Rowan into the passe

Drake POVI walked out of the hospital with my phone still pressed against my ear, listening to the same frustrating message for what felt like the hundredth time.Switched off.I pulled the phone away and stared at the screen before trying Rowan's number again.Nothing.“What's wrong with you, Rowan?” I muttered, frustration creeping into my voice. “You better pick up this time.”The call ended.I tried calling again but it wasn't going through.I lowered my phone with a sigh and shoved it into my pocket, but the uneasy feeling in my chest refused to disappear. My wolf stirred beneath my skin, restless and agitated.'Calm down. He's probably somewhere safe.'A low growl answered me.I frowned.'He's not here,' my wolf growled.“I know he's not here,” I muttered. “That's the problem.”The wolf growled again, but this time I felt something different behind it.Urgency.Then, just as suddenly as it had started, he went silent. That was strange.Usually, my wolf would argue with me until

Rowan POVLucas rushed toward me and caught both my wrists before I could take another step.“Shut up, Rowan.”I snarled at him, and the anger hurt more than the fear ever did. “Isn't she the one who allowed you to betray me with my best friend? Isn't she?”Lucas's expression hardened then his hand struck my cheek.I stumbled sideways, one hand flying to my face as the room spun for a moment.“Don't you dare speak about the Moon Goddess like that,” he warned, his voice low and threatening. “Say another word, Rowan, and you'll regret it.”For once, I was empty. No answer, no comeback, nothing. But deep inside, one question wouldn’t shut up, and it was eating me alive. If the Moon Goddess had truly chosen this fate for them, then why did I feel like I was the one being punished?Diego's voice trembled as he stepped forward, his hands clasping together nervously. “Please, Lucas, spare him.”I shot daggers at him as that irritating soft voice sounds again.I almost laughed.“Spare me?” I

Rowan POV“Rowan, I'm so sorry. Lucas and I didn't do anything,” Diego pleaded, pressing his palms together as he looked at me.I sat rigidly in the chair, my fingers curling against my knees as I struggled to keep my temper under control. “So I was blind when I saw both of you lying naked on the bed?”Diego's face fell.Lucas, however, remained completely unfazed. He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms. “What difference does it make? You're no different from me.”I slowly turned toward him, my disbelief giving way to anger. “Excuse me?”Lucas shrugged as though my reaction meant nothing. “You heard me.”I stared at him, wondering how he could stand there so casually after everything that had happened.Of all the explanations I had imagined tonight, this was somehow the one I had least expected.“Did you both come here to apologize or what?” I asked, my voice shaking as I fought to keep my temper under control. “Because I remember every stupid detail of what happened earlier.

  • My Rejected Mate Is The Ice King   Chapter 12

Rowan POVMy body still ached from the beating Lucas had given me earlier, and every step sent another wave of pain through me. I had never seen that side of him before. Lucas had always been difficult, but he had never raised a hand against me, and the fact that he had finally crossed that line left me more shaken than I wanted to admit.I dragged myself out of the hospital with one hand pressed against my side, trying to ignore the exhaustion weighing down my body. The last thing I wanted was to leave, but I couldn't afford to stay another night.I couldn't spend more than a day in that hospital when my debts were already climbing faster than I could pay them. One more night would only mean another bill waiting for me, and I had no idea how I was going to handle the ones I already owed.I lowered my head and kept walking, forcing one foot in front of the other while silently praying my body would hold together long enough for me to make it home.“Yo, pretty boy over there.
