RAINE
The next day…
Alpha Markus’s meeting room was usually reserved for important decisions about territory, war, or internal Pack policies. But this morning, the wooden walls echoed not with strategy... but with anger.I sat on the long bench, my hands trembling even though I tried to hold them steady. Beside me, Killian stood calm, cold as usual. At the far end of the room, Alpha Markus stood with his back to us, his body tense, breathing heavily. Several elders sat with stiff faces. And my mother... stood behind me, her eyes swollen from crying.
The scent of tension filled the room.
“How could this happen?” Alpha Markus’s voice finally broke the silence, heavy and shaking the floor. He turned around, his red eyes locking onto us. “How could... a future Alpha and his half sister make love in the middle of the Pack’s field, under the full moon, like... savage beasts?!”
The elders avoided his gaze. But I could feel their whispers since earlier.
The gossip had spread fast.
“They did it in the field.”
“Maybe that girl is a seductress...”
Killian remained silent, sitting upright, his eyes staring straight ahead.
“Can’t you find a girl out there, huh?!” Alpha Markus snapped loudly at his son, shocking everyone. “Out of thousands of females you could choose, why your half sister? Are you crazy?! Do you think other Packs won’t gossip about this?! This will become psychological warfare for our enemies! They will mock us for having a future Alpha who scandals with his half sister!”
Alpha Markus pointed at me, full of rage. “And you, Raine! Are you really destined to be a whore in this Pack?! Crawling on the ground like a woman without honor!”
The room fell into a deadly silence.
My mother, who had been biting her lip to hold back tears, finally dropped to her knees before Alpha Markus. “Forgive her... Forgive my daughter, Alpha,” she whispered hoarsely. “She doesn’t know... it’s instinct, not intent. They can’t control it.”
But Alpha Markus didn’t even glance at his own wife. His eyes burned, red like embers ready to consume anyone who dared approach.
“I have claimed Raine as my Luna in the future.” Suddenly Killian said this.
Everyone turned to look at Killian.
“We are Fated Mates, bound by instinct. What fault is it of mine if my wolf’s instinct finds a bond in her? We’re not full siblings, only half. Isn’t this possible?”
Alpha Markus stared at his son like he had just crossed the limit of his patience.
CRASH!
A metal vase shattered against the wall. Its shards rained down on the floor.“I don’t care if you have a bond from the Moon Goddess! I will not allow this Pack to be led by a Luna who is the daughter of my enemy!!”
I gritted my teeth, clenching my fists. “Then...” I whispered coldly, “I would never want to be the Luna of a son who killed my father.”
The room fell silent again. Some elders bowed their heads. Others closed their eyes as if that sentence pierced the very core of tradition and honor.
“What did you say?!” Alpha Markus roared. His Alpha aura exploded, shaking the entire room.
But before he could explode further, an old elder — Elder Marlo, one of the oldest advisors — stood up.
“Alpha Markus...” he said gently. “You know the consequences of rejecting a bond from the Moon Goddess? It could curse the Alpha’s heir, and even affect the entire Pack. Be careful...”
Alpha Markus responded sharply, “I don’t believe in fate mocking my honor.”
“But Markus, if this bond is forcibly broken...”
“I’d rather be cursed than see the blood of a traitor sitting beside my child on this throne!”
"I will proceed with an arranged mate for Killian immediately!"
Everyone fell silent again.
Alpha Markus let out a harsh breath. Then he said, “Killian, reject her. Now!”
Killian was silent for a moment. I hoped he would really reject me.
And... my hope was granted.
“I, Killian Knight, future Alpha of Pack Shadowfang, reject Raine Bittley as my mate.”
I didn’t cry. I didn’t scream. I didn’t beg. I just... smiled faintly, because I never expected to be his mate anyway.
Finally, it was all over.
But that freedom only lasted a moment before the pain hit my body.
My left chest felt crushed. My breath caught. My legs wobbled. My knees gave way and I fell to my knees on the cold marble floor, biting my lip hard to keep from screaming.
The burning sensation... was unbearable!
“RAINE!!” my mother screamed in panic, rushing to me. She hugged me, her body trembling as she tried to steady my erratic breathing. “Hold on, Raine... This will pass... I’m here...”
My body kept trembling. The pain didn’t stop. But I didn’t want to show my weakness in front of them. Not in front of Alpha Markus. Not in front of Killian.
Yet through my blurred vision, I caught a faint smile on Alpha Markus’s face. He smiled. He stood arrogantly, looking at me like a winner.
“Just as I suspected,” he murmured. “The Moon Goddess only punishes the weaker party in the bond. So, it’s only her who feels it. Killian is fine. The Pack is safe.”
Alpha Markus turned to the elders with a triumphant look. “No curse. No destruction.”
Some elders nodded slowly, though not all seemed convinced.
Killian remained silent. Not moving an inch. His face was as blank as a stone statue.
SERA's POVI knocked on Alpha Killian’s office door. After getting permission, I entered and stood straight in front of him.“Alpha,” I said. “Luna Raine is pregnant.”I delivered the news in a firm yet hopeful voice. I thought this was good news. I hoped Alpha Killian would be happy.Inside the room were Beta Jax and one of the elders, Gawoz. I always thought of Gawoz as a kind elder. He never raised his voice and always remained calm. In fact, he was the only elder who respectfully welcomed Luna Raine when she first joined a meeting with the Alpha and the young warriors. Luna Raine once told me that Gawoz was the only one who defended her at that time.I stood there, waiting for Alpha Killian’s reaction. But his face remained expressionless. He didn’t look angry, but he didn’t look happy either. I couldn’t read his thoughts.Beta Jax looked at me. His expression was cold, and his voice was even colder. “It seems like you’re the only one happy about this, Sera. So don’t get your hop
RAINE's POV I was still sitting at the edge of the bed, my hands trembling. I didn’t know if I should feel happy. “I asked again,” I said softly. My voice was barely more than a whisper, lost and unsure. “Am I really pregnant?” The doctor nodded once, firmly. Then he opened a small screen from his crystal device and showed it to me. “Yeah,” he said, watching me with careful eyes. “You’re pregnant, Luna. And based on the level of your spiritual bond with the Alpha, your pregnancy is about two weeks along.” “One more thing, Luna,” he added, his tone a little firmer this time. “Werewolf pregnancies are very fast.” “You’ll give birth in five months,” he said. Sera suddenly let out a soft squeal and clapped her hands in excitement. “Luna! Oh Moon Goddess, this is wonderful news!” she said, her eyes watery with emotion. “I have to tell Alpha Killian. He will be so happy!” I quickly stood up and grabbed Sera’s arm. “No need,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “Don’t
RAINE Three days later... I hadn’t done anything since that day. I hadn’t spoken to anyone. I stayed in my room the whole time, barely eating. And him, Alpha Killian, he didn’t come either. Even though, according to schedule, he was supposed to sleep in my room. But he never showed up. And honestly, if he had, I would have ripped him apart with my claws. I would have torn into his throat and shredded the fake silence he wrapped himself in. Because he betrayed me. I remember his promise very clearly. "I will protect you," he once said. But when I was humiliated in front of everyone, when Alpha Baron threatened to chop up my body and scatter the pieces on the Shadowfang border, Killian, that spoiled golden boy, just stood there and did nothing. And I felt like a doll tossed into fire, left to burn slowly while no one cared. I’ve had enough. Now, in front of me, stood the only person I could trust. "Asher," I called from my bed. He stood at the doorway, his body leaning casua
KILLIANI stood on the platform, my whole body numb.Raine... I could see her body still trembling from the pain, but her eyes remained sharp as she stared at Alpha Baron. She didn’t flinch, even when he threatened to chop her into pieces and bury her at the border of the Pack.I wanted to step down. I wanted to stand beside her and hold her hand. But I couldn’t. Not now.I clenched my fists at my sides, trying to hold back the tightness in my chest. Some people... maybe most of them... probably saw me as a coward today. They must think I just stood here without the courage to protect my second Luna, letting her be insulted in front of everyone without saying a word. And Raine... she must hate me.Her eyes, when she looked at me, felt like knives slowly piercing my chest. I knew she was waiting for something from me. But I let her down. But she doesn’t know. None of them know. That I have a strategy. I have a plan.Because this is not just about pride. This is about the people of Shad
ASHER Markus stepped down from the stage with heavy strides, like a wounded bull that had lost control. His eyes burned red, his breath came in harsh pants as if he was ready to set fire to anyone in front of him. His hand raised high, ready to slap Raine right in front of everyone. And when it happened, when his hand almost touched Raine’s cheek, I didn’t move, but my body tensed. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to see that bastard Markus’s head roll on the ground, blood pouring from his neck, then offered as a tribute at my parents’ grave. Because Markus was the main reason my life was destroyed. He didn’t just kill my parents. He ruined my entire future. He slaughtered us without mercy. That destruction left me wandering, forced to survive in the Northern Mountains with nameless wolves and broken refugees. I hated them all. Markus. Raine’s mother, the former Luna of the Silvercrest Pack. Even Raine herself. Because both women were traitors. They chose to bow down to the enemy and l
RAINEAlpha Baron stared at me coldly, then stepped closer again. His voice was sharp and piercing, filled with disgust.“You’re nothing but the second Luna of this Pack. Not the main one. If it weren’t for that ancient curse and the safety of the Shadowfang Pack from the wrath of the Moon Goddess, I would’ve killed you right here and now,” he said in a low but echoing tone that made several people nearby flinch.“You should know your place. Don’t let my daughter cry again and mention your name. That’s my final warning to you,” he continued. It felt like my heart was being crushed. But I stood tall anyway, even though my wrists were still cuffed, even though my body trembled from the pain and humiliation.“I’ll remember your words,” I said quietly. “But I want you to remember something too.”Alpha Baron raised his brows, like he couldn’t believe I still had the guts to talk back.“You killed innocent people,” I said louder. “Some of the parents of my five students… they were killed by
