Chapter 2

Author: Mohini
By the time I finished surgery and came out, Sienna and Harvey were already gone.

Harvey posted an update on his social media. It was a photo of him sitting in Sienna's car, eating a hot dog with chip crumbs scattered everywhere.

The caption read, "The hallway was freezing, so we're waiting for you in the car."

I never thought Sienna could tolerate such a mess. She was so obsessed with cleanliness that she once couldn't even stand me eating a piece of bread in the car.

I laughed quietly and liked the post.

Then I called the wedding planner, Carrie Lynch, and said, "I'd like to cancel the wedding we've been planning."

Carrie sounded regretful. "You've spent almost two years planning this wedding. Why cancel it?"

I looked at the two people smiling affectionately in the photo and laughed bitterly.

"I don't want to get married anymore."

Along with the wedding, I let go of my obsession with marrying Sienna.

Instead of getting into Sienna's car, I hailed a cab nearby and went home.

When Sienna came home in the middle of the night, she sounded furious.

"We waited for you downstairs at the hospital for over two hours. You even liked Harvey's post. Were you trying to annoy us on purpose?" she asked.

I had been in pain all night, but I never saw that kind of concern in her eyes when she looked at me.

Harvey tried to smooth things over as usual.

"Come on, don't argue. Justin just had surgery, so he needs to rest," he said. "Ms. Jepsen, I happen to have a few documents that need your review. The clients are waiting for them."

Sienna's anger disappeared instantly.

Then the two of them walked into the guest room without a word and didn't come out all night.

When I came out of my room the next morning, Sienna was busy in the kitchen.

She didn't give me any explanation for what they did in that room last night.

What kind of work required them to spend the entire night alone together?

Sienna walked over carrying a box of warm pastries.

"I got up early and waited in line to buy these. Try them," she said. "See if they still taste the same."

They were from my favorite cafe.

However, as her work got busier, she stopped being willing to wait two hours in line with me. Yet she still brought them to Harvey's office every day.

After that, I suddenly stopped liking it.

"We talked about work until late last night," she said. "When we woke up, we realized we had fallen asleep on the bed."

As she spoke, she brought her arm close to my nose. "If you don't believe me, smell it."

The familiar pine scent that belonged only to Harvey rushed into my nose.

My stomach churned. I rushed to the bathroom and rubbed my skin raw where she had touched me.

Sienna stood at the bathroom door, looking confused.

The next moment, she suddenly laughed coldly.

"When your dad caught your mom cheating, he kept taking shower after shower like a maniac. Looks like you're just like him," she said. "At least Harvey is much more normal than you.

"Sometimes I really think there's something wrong with you."

I stopped scrubbing my hands.

The bathroom went completely silent. It was quiet enough that I could only hear the sound of running water.

Back then, Dad had witnessed Mom getting involved with her boss.

That same night, he ended his life in the bathtub.

As he lay there, surrounded by blood and barely hanging on, he said to me, "No woman can be trusted. Don't ever put your faith in them."

Even though I hated Mom just as much, I still shook my head. "Sienna has always treated me well. She's different."

But when I heard Sienna say those words, I suddenly realized she wasn't any different at all.

I took a deep breath and said seriously, "If Harvey's so normal, then marry him.

"Sienna, let's break up."

Sienna narrowed her eyes, clearly not expecting my response."Justin, do you really have to say something so cruel over such a small matter?" she asked. "Is it because I made you pay 300,000 dollars?"As she spoke, she pulled out her phone and transferred 500,000 dollars to me.Then she asked, "Is that enough?"Without hesitation, I slapped her phone away. The world around us fell completely silent. All I could hear was my own breathing.Sienna picked up her phone from the ground without showing any anger."Or was it because of something else?" she asked. "Just tell me what it is. I'll explain, and then we can put this behind us."She said it so casually, as if all our past arguments would be fixed in a single day.But that would never happen again.I smiled bitterly."There's so much proof that your feelings for me have changed. I don't want to bring it up anymore because none of it matters now.""I haven't!" Sienna immediately protested. "Justin, what makes you think my f

She said you two just had a fight and would make up soon."She's been hands-on with every part of the wedding. You're one lucky guy."Hearing that, I almost laughed out loud.If I were really such a lucky guy, I wouldn't have left everything behind and moved overseas.I replied with absolute certainty, "Tell Sienna I'm not marrying her. She can marry whoever

Sienna's mind went blank. Justin had blocked her."How can this be?" she asked.Sienna refused to believe it and called several more times. The result was the same. She sent him another message. "It was just a misunderstanding. Did you really have to block me? Can't we talk things out?"She tapped send, but the message failed to deliver."Justin…" Sienna mumbled in a daze.Harvey struggled to suppress his smile and tried to keep his composure."Looks like Justin is really angry," he said. "I'll go to your place tonight and apologize to him. He's a forgiving person, so he'll definitely forgive me."Sienna ignored him. Her thoughts were in chaos.Justin had never blocked her before, and he had never ignored her for this long.…When they got off work that evening, Harvey got into the car with Sienna."I'll apologize to Justin properly. Third-person POVIn the office, Sienna listened to Harvey explain the project, but her mind was elsewhere.Harvey cleared his throat. "Ms. Jepsen, are you still thinking about Justin?"She responded with a dry hum."Did I really misunderstand Justin?" she asked. "He has always treated the company like his home and done his best. Would he really sell company secrets to a competitor?"Thinking of Justin's wounded expression left her feeling unsettled.Hearing that, a hint of guilt flashed in Harvey's eyes before he laughed awkwardly."Honestly, I never expected him to turn out like this," he said. "Maybe Justin really does hate me. After all, I took his job."Sienna comforted him gently. "You have your own plans for your career. How could this be your fault?"Besides, Justin and I really were planning to get married. It'll be easier for him to stay home."Harvey forced a stiff smile, and his eyes darkened slightly.Just then, a group of police officers arrived at the office.

The next day, I arrived at Sienna's office as promised with my resignation letter. As I walked closer, I saw my coworkers gathered outside the door, looking at me strangely.Sienna sat in her office chair, her expression dark with anger. Before I could even figure out what was happening, Harvey grabbed my arm. He looked disappointed in me."We were so close, Justin. How could you betray the company just to push me out?" he said. "Honestly, if you had just admitted that you stole the company's secrets, I wouldn't have called the police."I yanked my arm away from him."What are you talking about?" I asked. "When did I ever steal anything?"Sienna slammed her hand on the desk and shot to her feet. "You're still denying it? Who else could it be?" she snarled. "You just couldn't stand Harvey taking your position, so you destroyed his project overnight!"I froze for a moment, and my anger overwhelmed my judgment. "So what if I did steal it? That was my project!"Sienna thought I

"I have a lot of things to handle right now."I don't have time to think about marriage nor deal with your drama."She was too busy checking out restaurants with Harvey and traveling everywhere with him.Meanwhile, as her actual boyfriend, I had to wait my turn just to argue with her.At that moment, I actually laughed out of anger.Thinking I had calmed down, Sienna softened her tone a little."I'll pretend I never heard that, so let's forget this happened," she said. "I have a meeting soon. I need to pick up my secretary."It was obvious who that secretary was.I turned around and packed my bags, ready to move back home. That was when a female coworker accidentally sent some gossip into the company group chat. She wrote, "I just saw Ms. Jepsen shopping for suits with Harvey.
