Chapter 3

The comments grew harsher.

"Kneeling commando? A million-dollar wedding dress? Eight people? Damn, they play dirty. Rich people's logic makes no sense, but I'm totally blown away!"

"Even the latest phone is only the 17 Pro. At the rate Alisson and her crew are multiplying, they'll soon outnumber the phone models."

"Feeling for Mr. Chaney. Ditch that woman! Come over tonight. We're celebrating your return to single life!"

"@Lily, you better fucking explain yourself! Didn't you say you were just accompanying Alisson to an art exhibition at the studio? You went there to become the exhibit yourself?"

"@Megan, you'd better give me a real good explanation! You were crying and begging for my forgiveness earlier, saying you were just helping out a friend! Do I look fucking blind to you?"

The six bridesmaids' boyfriends all surfaced one by one.

It seemed their girlfriends had fooled them just moments ago, but after seeing the screenshots from my post, they finally realized they were being played.

Right after that, two new comments pushed the chaos straight over the edge.

One was from Lily Gould's fiance, the head of a real estate firm.

"@Lily, we're over. Don't fucking contact me again. The thought of you kissing me with the same mouth that might've licked Rhett makes me want to throw up. A piece of trash like you deserves a piece of trash like Rhett. You two belong together!"

The other was from Megan Hudson's husband, the CEO of a publicly traded company.

"@Megan, my lawyer will be sending you the divorce papers. You're leaving with nothing. I've also filed for an investigation to gather evidence.

"The shady financial transactions and intimate contact between you and Rhett are as good as proven. A cheap slut like you should just stay locked down with a one-minute man like Rhett!"

The comment section exploded completely.

"Holy shit! Total war!"

"Trash deserving trash? That metaphor is golden!"

"Looks like these women have plenty of dirty secrets with Rhett. No wonder they put so much effort into the shoot. Their faces looked like they were practically orgasming."

"Well done! Expose these sluts and ruin their lives!"

Amid the total chaos, Alisson never showed up, nor did she post a response.

It was as if the scandal had nothing to do with her.

Just then, an incoming call flashed on my screen.

I answered with a frown. It was Alisson's mother, Rebecca Doyle.

Her voice was choked with tears and panic. "Terrence! Delete that post right now! Alisson must have had her reasons! She was forced into it! She loves you so much. How could she ever cheat on you? There has to be a misunderstanding!"

"Mrs. Poole, everyone has seen how I've treated Alisson over all these years. If she hadn't crossed the line this time, I wouldn't be doing this," I replied calmly.

"Terrence, don't do anything rash. Listen to me. We've invited your parents over to our place. We want both families to sit down and talk this out. Let's clear up the misunderstanding first."

What? My parents were at their place?

I knew the Poole family's situation better than anyone. They'd pinned all their hopes on this marriage between Alisson and me.

Now that the wedding was off, would they…

I hung up, grabbed my car keys, and bolted out the door.

I sped all the way to the Poole residence.

Stepping inside, I saw only my parents sitting on the couch, looking visibly uncomfortable.

"Mom, Dad, are you guys okay?"

"We're fine," Mom said, patting my hand. "Alisson's parents said they went out to grab a few things and would be right back. They asked us to sit for a bit."
