Louis' POV

“Are you alright, sir?” someone asked. Their faces blurred, voices buzzed around me like background static in a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.

I didn’t answer. I didn’t want to. I didn’t have it in me. I pushed past the crowd, past the noise and questions, past the well-meaning hands trying to offer comfort or concern, whatever it was.

I was already in the news for something I didn’t want to remember. Something I hadn’t come to terms with. And now, this? It was too much. Too damn much. All I could think about was how the headlines would twist it again, drag my name through the mud one more time. And worst of all, I couldn’t blame them.

So I ran. I got into the car, slammed the door shut, and just drove. I didn’t think. I didn’t even blink. My foot hit the accelerator so hard I nearly tore the engine out of the damn car. The streets blurred. All I saw was red.

I drove straight to the house. Through the underground route. The one no one ever entered without permission.

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    Shattered Trust

Evelyn’s POVMy eyelids cracked open slowly, groggy and dry. The light overhead was dim, like it belonged in a basement, not bright enough to be day, not dark enough to be night. My throat felt sore. My limbs were heavy, numb.Where…?I blinked hard, forcing my eyes to focus. The walls were bare. Concrete. A metal pipe snaked along the ceiling. There was no window, just a single flickering light bulb overhead. I was on a bed ,a stiff mattress covered in worn sheets. It smelled of dust and old wood.I wasn’t tied. But my body felt… trapped.Like I’d just been buried alive.Panic shot up my spine. My breath hitched as realization punched me in the chest.Dave.He said I could trust him. He said he wouldn’t hurt me.Liar."Hey,” I whispered, then louder, screamed it, voice raw and shaking. “DAVE! Get me out of here! The sound of my own voice bounced off the cold walls, hollow and desperate. I jumped out of bed, feet bare against the freezing floor, heart slamming against my ribs like it

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The edge of truth

Evelyn’s POVMy knees hit the cold ground with a thud, gravel biting into my skin. My lungs burned. My chest heaved. The metallic taste of blood coated my tongue from all the screaming and running. Behind me, I could hear them, guards, footsteps pounding, shouting echoing like thunder.I had seconds. Maybe less.I pushed up on trembling legs.Run.I forced myself to move, every step like dragging cement blocks. My hospital gown was torn at the side, my feet bloodied from the pavement. I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. Then, blinding lights.A car.I turned, frozen. The headlights came straight at me, and for a breathless second, I thought, this is it.But suddenly, arms. Strong arms grabbed me, yanking me from the road.I fell against a chest, warm, solid, real.“Are you insane?!” a man’s voice snapped.I pushed away, eyes wild, gasping, fists ready to fight. Then I saw his face.“Dave?” I breathed, stumbling backward, my voice a broken whisper.No.He was the one. Could it be he wants

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The Escape

Evelyn's POVDarkness. Then light.A flickering white glow swam above me like a dying star. The ceiling. Blurred, sterile, humming with fluorescent hums. My eyelids fluttered open slowly, every blink like dragging sandpaper across my eyes.My throat was dry. My limbs, useless, heavy. There was a soft humming in my ears, and then a sharp ache as I tried to move. Something tugged against my wrists.I looked down.Straps.Thick white restraints locked across my arms, my legs. I couldn’t move. I was bound to the bed. My skin burned beneath them. Panic began to rise, clawing up my throat like wildfire.“Help!” My voice cracked, raspy, dry, barely a whisper.I swallowed hard and screamed again.“Help me! Someone…please!”No answer. The room was too quiet. Too white. I thrashed against the restraints. My chest heaved as tears stung the corners of my eyes.“I’m not supposed to be here!” I cried out, voice shaking. “Please! Somebody help me!”Nothing.I screamed again. Again. Again. The door f

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The man in the Hallway

Evelyn’s POVI didn’t know when I left Louis’s body behind. I just ran.Something inside me snapped the moment I saw that man.The hallway blurred past me, but my eyes locked on the figure ahead, the man in the doctor’s robe, calm, composed, but unmistakable. The face I’d seen in my nightmares. The face of the man who had pulled the trigger.I pointed frantically, my voice rising into a scream. “HIM! Look—LOOK AT HIM! That’s him!”Doctors, nurses, even visitors paused, turning to stare. My heart thundered in my chest, my breath coming in sharp, painful gasps. “That man, he killed my husband!”Behind me, I heard heavy footsteps. A police officer rushed forward, the same one who had asked for my statement earlier. His eyes were wide with confusion, maybe even concern, as he grabbed my arm gently but firmly.“Mrs. Evelyn, stop!” he said. “You need to calm down.”“DON’T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!” I screamed, shoving him back. My finger jabbed through the air. “That’s the man! The one who shot

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    The death

Evelyn's POVI almost sank to the floor. The doctor’s eyes didn’t give anything away. No flicker of hope. No trace of joy. Just that tired, neutral expression that made me want to scream.“What…what happens to him?” I stammered, my voice breaking mid-sentence.The doctor looked down for a second, then met my eyes. “We did everything we could… but he’s currently unconscious. The surgery was critical, and the next 24 hours are even more critical.”His words crashed into me like cold water. My knees buckled, and I grabbed the edge of a nearby chair to keep from collapsing. Not awake.Critical.Next 24 hours.I couldn’t breathe.“Nothing must happen to him,” I whispered, more to myself than to anyone else. “Please… please.”The doctor gave a slow, sympathetic nod, but there was nothing comforting in it. “We’ve done what we can,” he said gently. “The rest… the rest is up to God now.”And just like that, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing in the center of that sterile hallway,

  • My Wife, My Blackmailer    Bleeding hearts

Evelyn’s POVThe room was chaos, officers moving swiftly, radios crackling, the metallic scent of blood hanging heavy in the air, but all I could focus on was Louis. His head rested limply against my shoulder, his skin ice cold and drenched in sweat. The deep red stain across his pants was growing by the second, his blood seeping through my clothes and onto the floor. I kept my arms wrapped tightly around him, like I could somehow hold him together with sheer will.“Where the hell is the ambulance?” one officer barked into his radio, pacing anxiously. My heart pounded against my ribs like it was trying to break free from my chest. “Please…” I whispered, not to anyone in particular. “Please, God, not now. Don’t take him. Not like this.”I pressed my forehead to Louis’s, trying to steady my shaking breath. “You’re okay, Louis. You’re going to be okay. Just stay with me, okay?”His eyelids fluttered, but he didn’t speak. His face was pale, too pale, and there was a faint blue tint on his
