Mia's scream tore through the air like a knife.

Agonizing, primal, impossible to contain. The sound echoed across the territory like an ancient call—wild and frightening—causing everyone around her to turn. She fell to her knees, her body shaking as if it were about to shatter, her muscles rigid, her breath coming in desperate gasps.
