Sofia stood still for a moment, petrified in the middle of the living room, Pedro's gaze still fixed on her. That gaze was heavy, worried, almost accusing. She felt the pressure rising in her chest like a wave ready to swallow her. She had lied, she had hidden things, and now she could no longer back down. The words were there, stuck in her throat, but she knew she had to let them out. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a second, and launched in.

"You're right… something happened."

  • My dad's bestfriend   I Still Love Her

Ellie woke slowly, head heavy, mouth pasty, as if someone had filled his skull with damp cotton. The apartment smelled of pie in the oven a sweet, warm scent of apples and cinnamon that violently contrasted with the icy void in his stomach. He stayed lying there for a long moment, eyes fixed on the white ceiling, images from the day before returning in painful waves: Sofia and his father in the car, their bodies entwined, the stifled moans, the betrayal. Each memory was a blade sinking a little deeper. He forced himself to get up, legs weak, body still heavy from the previous night's alcohol. He passed Sofia's room. The shower was running behind the door. She was there, behind that simple wooden door, as if nothing had happened. As if she hadn't destroyed everything. He clenched his fists so hard his nails dug into his palms, then continued on his way without a sound.Downstairs, Diego greeted him with a broad, innocent smile."You're finally awake! We thought you'd sleep until tomorr

She felt the pressure rising in her chest like a wave ready to swallow her. She had lied, she had hidden things, and now she could no longer back down. The words were there, stuck in her throat, but she knew she had to let them out. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a second, and launched in."You're right… something happened."Pedro straightened slightly, eyebrows furrowed, body taut as a spring. His voice was low, pressing, almost an order."Then tell me, for God's sake."Sofia lowered her eyes for a moment, staring at the cold tile under her feet. She felt her heart beating too fast, her fingers trembling. She looked up, her voice trembling but determined not to evade."He… he told me he has feelings for me. And I told him that…"Pedro didn't let her finish. He ran both hands through his hair in a brusque gesture a ges

  • My dad's bestfriend   You Have to Tell Pedro Everything, Sofia!

Each step seemed to weigh heavier than the last. Her fingers slid along the polished wooden railing, as if clinging to a last landmark in a world that had just tipped over. Her reddened eyes betrayed the tears she'd tried in vain to wipe away in the bathroom, and her heart was still beating too fast, prisoner of a surge of panic she couldn't master. The house was calm, bathed in the golden afternoon light filtering through the sheer curtains, but that silence was anything but soothing. It was heavy, charged with what she'd just learned, with what she'd seen in Ellie's eyes.Downstairs, in the living room with its white walls and couch worn by summers, Mia was waiting. She stood with her arms crossed tightly over her chest, her face taut with a worry she no longer bothered to hide. Her brown hair, still damp from swimming, clung to her temples. As soon as she spotted Sofia, she took a step toward her, eyebrows furrowed.Sofia didn't wait a second. She crossed the room in three strides,

  • My dad's bestfriend   You Wanted Me to Congratulate You for Fucking My Father?

Sofia approached the crowd near the pool, her heart pounding so hard she felt like everyone could hear it. The music blared loudly, bodies danced, laughed, drank. The air was hot, thick with alcohol, perfume, and chlorine. Ellie was in the middle, clearly, obviously drunk. He held a half-empty glass, eyes bright and blurry, smile too wide, movements disordered. He danced badly too hard, too close to people as if he wanted to lose himself in the noise and alcohol to forget what he'd seen the night before. She saw him before he saw her. She moved closer, determined, palms damp, throat tight. She had to get him out of there before he did something irreparable.Ellie turned his head. His gaze landed on her. The smile vanished at once. His face closed, and a cold anger, mixed with pain, appeared in his clouded eyes."What are you doing here?" he shouted, his voice too loud to be natural. "I don't get it… I told you I don't want to see you. Out of my sight. Get lost. Now."Sofia stepped clo

  • My dad's bestfriend    Ellie, Answer Me!

Sofia arrived at the beach, her heart pounding so violently against her ribs that she was short of breath, as if the organ were about to shatter against her chest to escape into the burning sand. She scanned the crowd with a feverish, desperate gaze that slid over brightly patterned towels, bodies lounging in the sun, crystalline laughter bursting from all sides. The rhythmic crash of the waves, the cries of children playing in the foam all that summer tumult reached her muffled, veiled, as if an impassable glass wall brutally separated her from this carefree world. She had the unpleasant sensation of moving through a waking nightmare, a glass bubble where each second stretched into an anxious eternity, without her being able to break its walls. Her gaze suddenly stopped on a familiar silhouette: Diego, her brother, sitting not far from the water. But what made her waver was the presence beside him of her father, Javier, deep in animated conversation with Pedro, a family friend. Her h

  • My dad's bestfriend   Did He Go Tell Everyone?

Sofia stayed on the floor of Ellie's room for a long moment, knees pulled to her chest, face buried in her hands. The sobs still shook her in irregular, painful waves, as if her body refused to accept what had just happened. Ellie's words looped in her head sharp, cutting, impossible to chase away:You disgust me.Nothing will ever be the same again. She forced herself to breathe. Once. Twice. Three times. Then she stood slowly, legs weak, and approached the mirror hanging above the desk. Her eyes were swollen, red, mascara had run in two black streaks down her cheeks. She ran the back of her hand over her face, then went to the adjoining bathroom. She washed her face with cold water, several times, until her skin burned a little. She carefully wiped away her tears, looked at herself one last time in the mirror, and murmured to herself:"Pull yourself together. Now."She went down the stairs with slow steps, her hand clenched on the railing. The house was strangely silent almost too c
