Chapter 3: The bankruptcy of the Julia family

"Look! Is that the owner of the Robert house? I've seen him in the newspapers and the media."

"Really? Is he here? You're not kidding me are you?"

"Look for yourself, he's on the other side."

“Oh, that's unbelievable. I never thought I'd see him in person, that face, that body, it's a masterpiece."

Devlin stood against the wall, waiting helplessly in front of the operating room door, it had been eight hours but the operation was still not over. Anthea is going through a moment between life and death. Devlin could do nothing but wait and pray. If possible, he wished that it was him in the operating room, not Anthea.

The hospital administrative ladies at the cashier were glued to Devlin and constantly praising him, he had a face that made all women fall.

“But do you know why he is here? Who's lying in the operating room?"

"It's a secret, other than the treating doctors and the director, no one knows anything about the patient lying in it, but I heard that the operation has a very low success rate, the patient's heart has stopped. It was beating before but it's beating again, isn't it magical?"

“Secret? I'm sure that person's identity is very special."

Jethro watched Devlin's moody look from afar and felt a little pity, although the master and Miss Julia did not publicize their love story, the sheriff soon suspected Devlin had a girlfriend, so he quietly told him to go investigate, but he found out too late and didn't have time to report to Sir Robert that Devlin's girlfriend was Julia, then such a big thing happened.

“Master! Julia's family is in trouble, they are suspected of tax evasion, taking bribes, and stealing a huge amount of money from the company, her parents are now missing. I have not been able to contact them and if I find them, they will be arrested to coordinate the investigation with the police."

Jethro didn't want to tell Devlin this news at the moment but he had no choice.

Devlin was stunned by what he had just heard, it was a hard thing to accept, what Anthea would be like if she woke up and heard the news. He wondered, what made it all happen at the same time?

"Try to keep this a secret until it's clear, the important thing now is to wait for Anthea to wake up, maybe she knows what happened." - Devlin tried to calmly answer.

"I'll be back here with documents on this case, I think you need them." - Jethro put his hand on Devlin's shoulder to encourage him and then turned to leave.

“As for my grandfather, hope you can help me, I need time.” ' said Devilin, following Jethro's figure.

The light in front of the operating room door finally turned green, and the door opened with the arrival of doctors.

“How is she? Is everything okay? She'll wake up, right?" - Devlin quickly came in front of the doctor and asked in a rush.

"We need to speak in private, Mr. Robert." - the doctor in charge of the operation with a complicated face made a suggestion.

"The operation was successful, but Julia's head was badly injured, we will have to keep a close eye on it for the time being."

"So when will she wake up?"

"That's what I'm trying to say, too, Mr. Robert."

“She might wake up in the next few days but she might not wake up forever, I mean it's very likely she's vegetative. But that doesn't mean all, if her will to live is really strong, she will wake up soon. I hope miracles happen again.”

Devlin's legs were soft, he couldn't stand but staggered against the wall.

“Anthea… what to do? You will wake up… for sure… for sure.”

Devlin sat next to the hospital bed, he asked the hospital to move Anthea to a VIP room, he wanted Anthea to have a quiet space. Looking at the girl motionless on the hospital bed, he couldn't help but caress her face.

The mobile phone rang, and for two days he had put aside all his work, it had piled up into a mountain waiting for him to solve.

“Devlin, read the news.”

“Devlin, where have you been?”

"Anthea's in big trouble, I can't contact her."

“Please, reply to my messages as soon as you can.”

Devlin opened his phone and there were many calls and texts, including one from Julia Elena, Anthea's adopted sister, and college friend.

Devlin immediately opened the latest news, pictures of Elena being taken to the police station, and news of Julia's family bankruptcy spreading at a rapid pace. Who leaked this information while he told the police to keep it a secret? This only happened yesterday, but the news was posted 8 hours ago, someone knew in advance and intentionally posted it. Right now only Elena can answer his questions, he needs to see her. Devlin looked at the hospital bed with a reluctant look, but he still decided to move away.

"Take care of Anthea, don't leave her even half a step, if Anthea wakes up call me immediately." - Devlin instructed the nurse and quickly got out of the car to the police station.

The two sat opposite each other, separated by glass, Elena was wearing the clothes of the criminal, tears welling up in her eyes.

“Devlin! Do something so I can get out of here, it's terrible in here."

Elena was arrested here before Anthea's accident happened, it's been almost three days since she hasn't bathed or eaten anything, the rice in prison is hard to swallow. Elena's face was thin and pale, her eyes were swollen from crying and her hair was a mess.

"Tell me what's been going on these past few days, what's the problem with your family?" Devlin looked straight into Elena's eyes and spoke hoarsely.
