Ruby

A lot of thoughts fought for my attention as I sat in the back seat of the car, but I was too weak to even indulge any of them. I wasn’t myself at all and it wasn’t just because of Asher and his mistress, it felt like my body was under a severe pain and I couldn’t even explain or describe it.

I just wanted to be at Ava’s place so fast and hopefully, Matt won’t be there. I can’t keep ruining their romance.

A smile lined my lips when the car finally stopped in front of her building. I hurried to the door and the doorbell only rang once before the door flung open and Ava was standing there.

“Ohh babe, you won’t believe I was planning to come to your place later in the day,” she said as she stepped aside so I could enter.

I didn’t say a word and just went straight into the living room. She shut the door and followed me.

“What’s happening? You guys are fighting again?” She asked while I let out a deep breath.

“I can’t even call this a fight, I think it’s the end of the road.” I man

  • My heart beats for you    The strange caller…

Ruby “You don’t have to do anything, I’m already leaving but I’ll be back soon for my wife and child.” Ava looked so shocked when Asher said this and she looked at me for answers but I couldn’t say anything. We both watched him storm out of the house and the next thing was the sound of his car zooming off.“What was he doing here?” Ava finally found her voice while I just sunk heavily into the sofa.“I stupidly went to his office to drop the divorce papers just to rub it on his face.” I replied. After speaking to my lawyer and we reached an agreement, she offered to reach out to Asher herself but I was too eager to go myself. I really wanted to see the look on his face when I hand him the divorce papers, and it was so worth it and satisfying… until it wasn’t.“That wasn’t stupid, I would do the same but I still don’t get how that made him end up in my living room.” She replied.“Well, I got dizzy on my way out, dropped my phone and didn’t realize until he showed up about twenty min

  • My heart beats for you    I’m coming back for what’s mine!

AsherI read the text message over and over again till my eyes started to blur.“Ruby is pregnant?” I finally muttered under my breath. A lot of thoughts ran through my head that instant. Why would she want to leave me now that she’s pregnant? And why even hide it from me? Does she think I don’t want a baby with her? Or isn’t the baby mine? That can’t be.Ruby would never do that. She can’t cheat on me. All those her talks about having an open marriage was just anger. She was just mad at me and wanted to punish me and it actually worked. I was jealous and I think that was part of the reason I came back to my senses and realized she’s the one my heart really wants. But why? Why insist on a divorce when we have a baby on the way?I need answers and staring at the phone won’t give me that. I hurried to my desk, grabbed my car key and left the office.“I’ll be back soon, I need to attend to something real quick. If you need me, call me.” I said to Linda who nodded but I didn’t want for

  • My heart beats for you    Let’s get it over with!

Asher“It's nice to see you too, Linda. Am I allowed to stay today?” I teased and she chuckled.“You're free to stay sir, you look radiant and well relaxed so we are all good here.” she replied and we both laughed it off. “Come with me real quick, let's get to work.” I chimed in and I walked into my office while she followed me. “Okay, so I went through the files you sent me and I'm really impressed. You did a fantastic job, if I ever think of retiring soon, I think I've got myself a replacement.” I retorted.“Thank you,” she replied.“It's alright. But then, there are a few changes we need to make. I didn't touch them since my boss forbade me from working yesterday, so let's do that now.” I said while setting up my computer. She was ready with her iPad too and we got to work immediately. We were at that for the next couple of hours and we didn't even know the time was that far spent. I wasn't going to stop until we were done too but my phone rang and disturbed us. I checked and se

  • My heart beats for you    Where’s your darling wife?

Asher“Urgggghh,” I shrugged as I got out of the car and made my way into the house. I’ve been at the beach the whole day and finally back home and there’s this awkward feeling knowing Ruby isn’t there. Ever since we got married, I’d never been this sad to come home. Even those times that Ruby and I had fights, I still wanted to come home always but now it’s all gone. Her mind is made up, she’s leaving me and I feel so helpless and hopeless.I was so happy when I walked in and Camila was nowhere in sight. Despite blocking her number, she has called me several times since I left in the morning and knowing how petty she is, I expected her to be waiting for me right there in the living room so she can pick a fight once I walk in. “Thank God,” I muttered under my breath as I made my way upstairs into the room. I dumped my things on the bed and started putting off my clothes.“Hey baby, you’re finally back,” Camila’s voice suddenly rang behind me and once I turned, I saw her in the bed.

  • My heart beats for you    You’re all I’ve got!

Ruby“Heyy, good morning,” Ava let out sweetly as she opened the door gently and came in. She had a glass of water in her hand, making me sit up as she approached me so I could take it from her. “Thank you,” I said and then downed it all at once.“Ohh, didn’t know you were so thirsty, I would have brought more.”“Not really, it was just so refreshing once I started drinking. Good morning, how are you?” I asked while she moved closer to me and held my hand.“No baby, how are you?” She asked too and I looked away at first.I know what she was asking and I’ve been asking myself the same question all night too. After I had that conversation with Asher yesterday, I came in and just came into the room. I wouldn’t even say anything much to Ava. I just told her I needed some space to clear my head and she didn’t argue. She brought my dinner later and that was it. Throughout the night, I had just one thought and it was about my baby. I love it so much already and I just want the best for i

  • My heart beats for you    Not today!

AsherFor the next ten minutes, I knelt there and did nothing. I didn’t even move, and the tears had even stopped. I was just blank, clueless and drained. I finally stood up and I almost fell. I had been too long on my knees that blood had stopped circulating there. I staggered backwards to the wall and stayed a couple of minutes there before I finally got myself back. I hopped in my car and then drove off. I wasn’t even dressed for work and had only a casual wear on but I didn’t want to go back home so I drove to the office.“Good morning, sir.” Linda said as she quickly rose to her feet when she saw me. She tried to force a smile to mask the shock on her face but I could read her expression. I’ve never been to the office, this disorganized so I understand her surprise.“Morning, Linda.” I simply said and went into my office. In about a minute, the door opened and it was Linda. She came straight to my desk, stared at me for a long second before she opened her mouth.“Are you alri
