Chapter 4
*The following morning* Sheila's POV I entered the dinning room, my heavy steps catching Luca's attention from his phone and his squinted eyes fix on me. A sinister smile spreads across his face as he enjoys my discomfort. “ Took you long enough to show up after I instructed Shirley to inform you I needed your attention in the dining room." “Was caught up with trying to get into this fancy dress you instructed me to put on ." I replied harshly, trying to muster up courage. “ That's quite impressive. You fascinate me. Didn't expect a lowlife and weak Omega like you to have a sharp tongue.” I frowned and Luca grinned broadly. His eyes glistened with amusement. “ I guess I'm nobody's puppet." I chuckled with dry humor. Luca gestured to the chair opposite him , indicating that he needed me to perch my butt on the seat. I hesitated for a while before reluctantly taking a seat. Assorted dishes displayed on the table made mouth water in hunger. I was famished. “Tea?." Luca asked me,his tone dripping with sarcasm. I raised my eyebrows because I didn't understand what he was trying to incinerate. " Tea, Sheila?.” He requested again with a colder aura. Our eyes clicked for a few seconds before I stood up from my seat and gently picked up the tea kettle. Resentment swirled inside me as the seconds ticked. “ Don't you have the maids to run errands for ya?.’ I asked, not feeling the need to stand up and fill his mug when the maids could easily do it for him. " That's an order. Not a request.” " Luca…..” " An order Sheila. You don't get to make choices.” Luca reaffirmed with steely eyes. I picked up his mug and while he glared at me with venomous eyes. I poured the steaming hot tea into Luca's tea mug , trying to steady my trembling hand that didn't seem as though it would stop trembling any moment from now. I slowly began to fill the cup. I didn't want to give him any reason to lash out. He had rudely requested that I serve him tea and I just wanted to do it and get over it. The mug finally filled to its brim and I handed it over to him. Our fingers brushed and the entire hot steaming content in his mug spilled on his lap, causing him to grimace in pain. I immediately picked up a napkin and offered to wipe the mess off but his monstrous glares stopped my hand half way. “Don't you dare!." He threatened. I buried my head down with slumped shoulders. " My bad.” “Clumsy Luna!." He taunted, his voice low and menacing. Capable of scaring people to death. My face instantly flushed with embarrassment and fear. “I- I am sorry Luca. It was an accident. My apologies." But Luca wasn't having it, he was actually anticipating a scenario like this. Luca slammed his hand on the table making cold shivers travel down my spine in full force. “You dare to defy me like this?." He questioned. His dominance radiating like a palpable force. The skin around his eyes wrinkled as he squinted his eyes in disgust. “You are such a disgrace. Nothing to show off. How in the name of the Moon goddess would you explain this to me Sheila? Did you go blind or something? How the fuck do you explain this?.” I shrank back, trying to placate him and make him see reason with me. “ Luca. It was just an accident. I didn't mean to……. Don't make a fuss about i-.” Luca cut me off,his voice rising. His anger accelerated. “ You are a disaster waiting to happen Sheila. You can't even serve me freaking tea while making a mess and wrecking my clothes.” My eyes snug. I blinked rapidly to hold back tears. I flinched as Luca's words cut through the air ,the sharp tone making my eyes prickle with unshed tears . The sting of his insults lingered leaving me breathless and my eyes burning . I opened my mouth to apologize but the words caught in my throat as he turned away. my fist clenched tightly, a spark of defiance igniting within me from pleading for mercy that never came. “Get out!." He growled. His voice dripped with disgust. “This hasn't gotten to this extent, Luca." I bawled, my throat arid from begging a lot. “Get the fuck out before I do something disastrous to you.” I didn't need to be told twice. I turned and fled the room leaving Luca to his anger and wrath. Just as I opened the door, his stiff voice stopped me. “Halt!." He ordered. My hand raced wildly in anticipation of what he wanted to say next. I turned and faced him. " You aren't going unpunished for your stupidity.” He belted while stamping his foot noisily on the floor. “ Punishment awaits you Sheila. A severe one." He said. " What did I do to be punished? Are you tripping or something?.” I asked with a soft scoff that indicated I was finding everything funny. " Guards!.” He shouted and two guards rushed in and quickly gave him a head bow. “Take Sheila to the punishment room." He ordered, his voice dripping with malice. I didn't know what the punishment room was but I knew it must be a place of torment and torture. “ Why are you cold hearted? Do you even have a heart? I apologized . What else do you want? That I licked your foot?.” I barked, reaching the climax of my tolerance. “Watch your tongue!." Luca snapped sharply. He approached me and stood an inch away from me with towering heights. “Or what? I mistakenly spilled some tea on you and offered my apology and you didn't accept it and you want to punish me? " I asked and forced a shrug. “ I guess even the Alpha joins in the long list of abnormal pack members." " You are pushing me to the wall.” Luca forced his words through gritted teeth. " I don't care. I didn't sign up for this. I didn't sign up for you!.” I yelled to his face while standing on tiptoes. Before I realized what was happening, Luca landed me a slap. My cheek burned and I looked at him through bloodshot eyes and all I could see was a monster in clothes and nothing more. “Get her out of my sight." He commanded and the guards led me away . We reached the punishment room and one of the guards yanked the door open and pushed me inside. As I stepped into the punishment room. My entire being is engulfed in an eerie , chilling atmosphere . Cold gray stone wall seemed to absorb the faint flickering torchlight , casting ominous shadows on the ground. The air was heavy with the scent of dampness and decay, making my stomach twist with anxiety. The room is silent, so silent that a dropped pin would have echoed. The guards shut the door behind me and I began to bang on the door while pleading to the guards to let me out. “Let me out!." I yelled. My fingers wrecked my hair. I sat down on the sandy floor and hugged my knees while burying my face between them and awaiting my punishment. Whatever Luca had installed for me, I was ready to receive it and endure it. This wasn't a time to be the weak Omega or the pathetic Sheila . Tears burned fresh tracks down my cheeks as I began to count the seconds in my head. “One… two…three… four….”Chapter 30Luca’s POV “Any new or updates from those search parties?". I asked, my voice laced with inquisitiveness Joseph immediately sensed his presence behind me. Joseph lowered his head, shaking it slowly.“I am sorry to say these but they haven't returned. We haven't heard from them either and I wonder why their phones aren't working anymore. I'll dispatch a new team to continue the job. I am so sorry for the inconvenience.”I turned around, my gaze met Joseph's, rough and unwavering.“I hate delays, Joseph. Sheila must be found at all costs. Why can't your men do a clean simple job? What kind of men do I have as guards here? First they couldn't keep watch over Sheila and now that she has escaped, they couldn't even find her?” I snorted, feeling my rage climb to its climax.“I apologize for my shortcomings. I promise you that Sheila will be found before you realize it." Joseph reassured, his voice dripping with dedication.I paced around my office for a moment, my hands behind
Chapter 29Sheila’s POV I woke up to the deafening sound of wood. Kael was splitting firewood on his lawn. Despite being blind, he could do everything expertly.A knock remained me oncr again that I wasn't in the confines of Luca's territory or within the melancholic walls of my room. I was free and somewhat safe. The door opened and Shirley stepped in, a gentle smile on her face.Shirley came over and pulled open the window, allowing for a heavy influx of sunlight into the room.“Good morning milady. I hope you slept well despite how chilly it was last night." I stretched out, a yawn drowning my words “Of course Sheila. I had terrific night rest. How was your— night?.” I inquired, my eyes darting around the rooms as I trailed Shirley's movement.Shirley smiled, her cheeks flushed.“Mine was great. I had a fantastic dream."I raised a brow suddenly over intrigued.“A dream? That's fascinating. Tell me what's its about?". Shirley came to sit beside me, her face radiant with happine
Chapter 28James's POV “I thought we were to attack tonight, what happened?." Hardin asked immediately as he walked into the highrise balcony.“There's been a change of plans. We'll find better ways to attack the dark moon pack. For now we lay low." I assured myself over my shoulders.Hardin wasn't satisfied with my response. That was so bland. I had given him a mandate of getting his men ready earlier today in order for them to unleash terror on the dark moon pack and possibly rescue all the she-wolf victims held bondage by Luca.“But the men are prepared for battle." He asserted.I turned and faced hardin, my countenance demure.“You don't have to worry about anything. We'll raid Luca's pack some other times. I have a lot on my plate.” I spoke, taking a walk around the balcony, enjoying the cool night breeze. The view above was beautiful. The stars had aligned perfectly in the sky like little white gems surrounding a crescent luminous moon that illuminated the entire region. Toda
Chapter 27Sheila’s POV“This can't be my mother's. You don't know her. My parents died when I was still an infant." I chose to disagree. I tossed the diary aside, my eyes prickly with tears. The woman in the picture and I had a lot of resemblance. A striking resemblance that I couldn't deny. I was her carbon copy. Even a blind man would easily agree to it.“I wouldn't lie to you. I am delivering your mom's journal to you like I promised and swore I would. Believe me Sheila. I wouldn't lie to you." Samantha assured, studying my movement while consistently nodding her head.I chuckled sarcastically, unsure of what to say next. How does Scarlett expect me to trust a stranger I just met all because she claimed to know my parents?“I can't trust you Scarlett. We just met and besides, having my mom's journal isn't enough proof that you knew her. You could have stolen it. I need more logical reasons to believe you knew my mother. I was told she died in childbirth. My father was rumored t
Chapter 26Sheila’s POVFear crept into my bones as the haggard-looking woman led us deeper into her dilapidated bungalow. Candle holders bearing candles illuminated the entire building casting an eerie glow around the room. I could barely see Shirley's face or know the expression on the woman's face.“I need to keep you safe for the night, Sheila. Alpha Luca's men won't stop until you are found. You and your maiden can rest her for the night." Her words my heart skip a beat. She knows of my involvement with Luca. Who is this woman? What's her motive? Am I safe in her cabin? “How did you know my name? Who are you and how did you know I am running from Alpha Luca?” I inquired, my gaze locked onto the woman like a plague. She motioned for Shirley and me to take a seat. A small smile tugged on her lips faltered when I shook my head.“We are fine standing. Why don't you answer my question?." I cocked my head, maintaining an impassive face. The old woman smiled softly again, the dimly li
Chapter 25Sheila's POV “Are you alright?." Shirley asked when she noticed that I had stopped running and was resting against a tree trunk to catch my breath.I nodded, sweat dripping down my forehead. “I am perfectly fine, just tired,” I responded through gritted teeth.Shirley retreated and came to stand on the tree trunk beside me.We were lost in the woods, in the middle of nowhere trying to catch our breaths. Everything was complicated but now felt more assuring and soothing like inhaling the air of freedom. “We need to keep moving. We don't have time to relax and chill out. Alpha Luca's men are after us as we speak. They would have noticed that you are no longer within the pack walls and his Majesty would do anything to make sure his Luna is brought back home." Shirley was right. A guard had spotted me escaping already. It wouldn't take long for words to reach Luca if it hadn't by now. “I guess you are right. Luca's men are already on the move. One of the guards saw me le
