Adrian’s POV

The council room was too quiet – the heavy kind that put pressure on my head and made me conscious of every breath I took. The long table was filled with elders and aides who stared while awaiting the words from my mouth. They had made it quite clear. An Alpha was to be seen or perceived to act like one.

“The pack needs to feel secure, Alpha,” Elder Garron said, the calmness of his voice belying the undertones of warning in it. “Your dad’s death put everyone on edge. Your coronation made everyone breath out in relief but recent actives have shaken their faith and trust in you…not even the subjects but from your very own camp…your own kin doubts your leadership ability. A public display would reassure them that all is still solid.”
