"Focus, focus, focus," I repeated in my mind.

"Oh God," I muttered, throwing the pen harshly onto the paper.

It had been hours since I started trying to focus on my work, and all I’d done was think about him.

My gaze drifted toward the wall that connected my room to his.

"Why the hell is my room right next to his?" I cursed silently.

Here I was, trying to focus—trying to breathe—but instead, I was spiraling. The guy I once wanted to reconnect so badly had turned out to be step-uncle. And now, not only do I have to live under the same roof as him, but fate thought it’d be fun to stick our rooms side by side?

Unbelievable.

And to make it worse, I could even hear the sounds from his room. The soft creak of the door opening, footsteps—every damn time he came or left, I heard it. It was like a cruel joke from the universe.

It honestly felt like fate wanted me to do something I’d regret later.

Frustrated, I got up. There was no point pretending like I could focus anymore.

I walked toward the balcony, hoping maybe the fresh air would calm me down.

The scenery outside was beautiful. The garden behind the house was blooming—roses, my favorite, scattered in full bloom.

My grip tightened on the railing.

He had brought a rose bouquet for me the first time we met…

“Stop it,” I scolded myself. “Stop connecting everything to him. You’re only hurting yourself.”

I stayed there for more than ten minutes, breathing slowly.

Tomorrow, I had college. I needed sleep, needed peace.

But as I turned to head back inside, my eyes fell on the other side.

His room.

Wait... our balconies are connected?

“Great. Just great.” The words slipped out of my mouth.

No barrier. Not even a railing separating them. Nothing.

"God really has it in for me these days."

“Screw it.” I muttered under my breath, heading back toward my room—but I stopped.

Should I check his room? I asked myself.

Check for what?

What in the fantasy world was I expecting? A diary full of thoughts about me? Photos hidden in a drawer?

“Don’t be delusional, Elora,” I scolded myself again.

Still, something about his room pulled me in.

And like an idiot giving in to curiosity, I stepped onto the shared balcony.

The floor creaked. My slippers made a sound with every step. Just perfect.

Not only would I hear him every time he moved, now he’d hear me too.

No complaints left in me—I was too far gone for that.

Through the balcony door, I could see his room. It was neat. Too neat. Like he barely stayed in it.

The door was slightly ajar.

I pushed it open and stepped inside.

His room reflected him. Quiet. Controlled. Everything in place.

A large photo of him hung above the bed, and I found myself staring at it.

“How does it feel to see me again, Mr. Stranger?” I whispered to his picture. “Is it awkward for you? Is that why you’re pretending not to know me? Or… did you really mean it when you said—”

‘We’ll be nothing to each other after these three nights.’

His exact words echoed in my mind.

I blinked quickly. I could feel tears threatening.

My eyes scanned the room, falling on a laptop on his table.

I sat on the floor in front of it, running my fingers gently over its surface.

“Did you ever search for me? Like I did every day for you?” I asked softly, though I knew no one was listening.

My throat tightened.

I wiped my tears with both hands.

“Why are you crying, Elora?” I whispered to myself.

Because you still want him. And now it feels wrong.

My mind answered before I could silence it.

I probably would’ve kept crying—or started cursing him—if not for the sound of a door unlocking.

“Shit,” I gasped silently.

I scrambled to get up, to rush back , But the balcony floor was too loud, it would give me away.He was already inside. No time.

Panicked, I slipped behind the long curtain hanging near the balcony door, hiding in the folds like some scared thief.

He walked in and locked the door behind him.

“Please don’t see me. Please don’t see me,” I begged in my head.

He loosened his tie and collapsed onto the bed. He looked tired. Exhausted.

He pulled out his phone and began scrolling.

Then, quietly, he said:

“I missed you.”

I froze.

His voice was soft. Sincere.

“Finally… you’re close to me,” he murmured again.

Who is he talking to?

“I missed the time we spent together. Our talks, your touch… everything. And now, we’re close again. I hope we—”

I leaned a little, trying to see the screen.

Maybe if I could just see maybe—just see if it was me—

But in the process, I knocked over a vase nearby.

I caught it before it fell, but it was too late. He heard.

“God, no.” I cursed inside.

I bolted, trying to run back. But the floor creaked loud again.

What if he thought I was invading his privacy? What if he shouted?

I was about to make a run for it when a hand grabbed me and pulled me back.

Before I could react, I was pinned against the wall.

He hovered over me. Inches away.

“Elora,” he breathed, his eyes locking onto mine.

I couldn’t stop smiling to myself.I opened my eyes — I was in my room, naked under the blanket. He did exactly what he said. My hand reached for the nightstand, grabbing the rule list we made.I hadn’t slept this peacefully in two years. Each rule I read brought his touch back to my skin. My thighs clenched. My hand slid under the duvet, rubbing myself as I read. The rules were a mix of normal and filthy. The first one: never tell anyone what’s happening between us — because if the family found out, both of us would be ruined. Then came the basics: safewords, no cumming without permission, sleeping naked every night, always ready for him. The list even marked the spaces where I had to be available to him.My hand froze when I read the one I hated most: “No office play. Remain professional outside.”God, why did he have to add that one? The thought of being under his desk while he led a meeting, his voice steady while I made him lose control — it would’ve been the most thrilling thin

He let me go.Stepping back, his voice was low but commanding.“Strip, Wildflower,” he said, locking his eyes with mine.Without wasting another second, I began undoing my clothes. I was still in the same dress I had worn to the party. The fabric slipped from my shoulders and pooled silently at my feet. For a long moment, he just looked at me—devouring me with his gaze—before turning toward his desk. We were still in his study, the air heavy with silence. His hand reached for something, and when he turned back, I saw it. A cutter. My breath caught. My heartbeat thudded violently in my chest as he came toward me, the metallic click of the blade opening echoing louder than it should have in the stillness. He stopped just one step away.“You forgot, Wildflower,” he murmured. My brows furrowed, confused, until his eyes flicked downward.“The first rule.” His voice was steel. “You never wear undergarments.”Before I could respond, the blade slid clean through the center of my bra. The fabr

“We can’t be together. This is wrong,” he said. “Why are you the one being scared? It’s supposed to be the girl’s part to be scared, not the guy’s. I’m not scared—then why are you?” I asked. His jaw clenched. “I’m not scared for me. I’m scared for you. If your mom finds out, she’s going to—” “She’s going to what?” I cut him off. “I have a life. She doesn’t get to decide it for me. It’s me who decides who I want to be with.” He just stared at me, silent. I stepped closer, my heart hammering. “I’m saying this one last time—accept that you need me as much as I need you,” I whispered. He opened his mouth to interrupt, but I pushed ahead. “Or let me live my life. Let me find someone else. Stop interfering in my matters.” His eyes darkened, but he still said nothing. “Fine,” I snapped. “If you won’t accept me, then I’ll go back to that guy tonight—” Before I could finish, his hand shot out, gripping my arm, slamming me back against the wall. “You won’t,” he growled. “Why not?” I

His hand rested on my throat, not pressing, not gentle, only enough to have my pulse hitch beneath his touch. His words were a slow undercurrent beating into my skin like something dark and treacherous. You are only mine, wildflower. My mouth fell open and I breathed shallowly. “You did,” I whispered feeling sweet relief and something hotter, heavier, tumble down through me. “You finally admitted it.” But only a moment passed when regret shut out his eyes. He dropped me like a burn and took a quick step back to create separation. “Don’t put words in my mouth,” he muttered angrily. I pressed on befofe he could escape me. “Yes, you did. You can’t lie, not anymore. You called me yours. You called me wildflower.” His jaw tensed, his face went taut. “Elora—” “Why?” I choked up, but I went on. “Why are you fighting this? You feel it too. I know you do.” He bit off the request, closed his eyes and took a deep, ragged breath. When he opened them, the fire was smothered in ice. “Beca

I woke up with a throbbing head. Slowly, I sat up, pressing my palm against my temple. “Oh God, it’s too much,” I cursed under my breath. When I finally opened my eyes, I realized I was in my own room. It took me a whole minute to register that fact. Dropping my hands from my head, I whispered in my mind, How did I even come here? And then everything flashed back—me going there, seeing him with another girl, drinking with that guy… My hand flew to my mouth as the realization struck me. What was I going to do with him? Are you mad, Elora? I cursed myself silently. And then those words echoed again in my head. You are only mine, wildflower. My eyes widened in shock and surprise. Did he admit it? I asked myself. I looked around. Did he bring me home? So he gave in, I thought, springing out of bed. I had to confront him. I should still be angry, but instead, an odd happiness bloomed inside me. He admitted it. I rushed out of my room and pushed open the door of his. Empty. I w

“Thank you,” I said as I paid the taxi driver and turned around.Right in front of me stood the Mex Club. As invited, I was here to attend Kevin’s birthday party.Though I knew I might get bored, what other choice did I have? My best friend was also here, so it wasn’t like I had anywhere else to spend the night. With him? Hell yes—if he were like before. But now… I would just feel bored and desperate. So, it was better to be here.“Elora!” I heard a familiar voice—it was Ava.She reached me with a bright smile. “Oh, darling, you look amazing,” she said.“You’re not looking any less,” I replied. She was wearing a silver dress that shimmered under the lights.“Thank you,” she said.I was in a black bodycon dress that hugged my figure just right.“Let’s go inside,” she said.“Yeah,” I agreed, and together we made our way in.I had come to get distracted from him… yet I didn’t know why my eyes were searching for him. Was I hoping he would come? Was I foolishly wishing he’d check on me?Th
