"What did you just say?” I asked, but Dorry’s response was silent tears, followed by covering her mouth. She avoided my gaze, clearly regretting what she had just said. But it was too late. No matter how much she tried to dodge it, I wouldn’t let this conversation end.

“You came back to the island, Dorry? When? Why didn’t you show yourself? Why didn’t I know?” I asked rapidly. I didn’t really want to lock her up. But I was at my breaking point. I didn’t care if she hated me more—as long as I could understand the reason for her anger. That way, I could figure out what to do to earn her forgiveness.

“I’m not lying, Dorry. You’re the one pushing me to this! Do you want me to go crazy, constantly wondering what I did to make you hate me? Fine! Let’s both lose our minds together!”, my mind reeling as if a storm had hit. She, however, remained silent, with no intention of speaking further.

“Dorry, look at me!” I ran a hand through my hair, trying to keep my anger in check but failing. It wa

  • Nelson de Vedra: The Outcast Billionaire   Chapter 34

“If you never really came back, Dorry, why is there a record of you at this hospital? You were confined here three years ago. What really happened to you? Why won’t you even let us know about that?”Dorry and Diego both turned their eyes to me. Diego looked puzzled, while Dorry’s gaze was anxious, her restless eyes giving her away.“Why can’t you answer me?”I stepped closer to her bed, not breaking eye contact. Even Diego couldn’t take his eyes off her.“What exactly are you hiding? Instead of answering the questions in my head, you’ve only made them multiply. It’s getting more confusing. What is your secret, Dorry?”Diego tapped my shoulder as if trying to calm me down. I knew he could feel the turmoil inside me. He’s known, even from the beginning, how much pain Dorry has caused me. That’s why I know he understands exactly how I feel now.“And why does it matter to you if I’m hiding something, Nelson? What’s it to you if I come back or not? ” She let out a bitter laugh. “And coming

My ears were ringing. I could now hear Dorry’s soft giggles like she was being tickled. Whoever was with her inside didn’t seem to be holding back their flirting."Open your mouth. This is sweet, like me.""Stop it, you’re so flirty. Someone might hear you, and it’s—”“Oh, really now!” I barked as I flung the door open. Dorry’s eyes widened for a moment but quickly turned into a scowl. And to my annoyance, she didn’t say a word. Her eyes, though, were sharp, as if trying to shoo me away, but she kept sneaking glances at the man with her, who, oddly enough, looked completely unbothered by my presence. He didn’t even turn around. Sure, he flinched when I entered, but now he was back to peeling an apple, shrugging as if nothing happened.I wanted to keep my cool today. I didn’t want to start a fight with Dorry because I needed to talk to her and apologize. But damn it! This?! This is what I walk in on? Them flirting like that? What husband wouldn’t feel their blood boil? Who wouldn’t get

"Sir Nelson, we’re here," Jac announced as the car came to a stop.I took a deep breath before stepping out. Just like the De Vedra mansion, it had been years since I last set foot in this building. No one here knew me except my aunt and her family. It was almost funny. After all these years, the building remained unchanged. The exteriors looked ancient—not just the exteriors; even the interiors had stayed the same. The De Vedras were supposedly the wealthiest family in the country, yet the building looked dilapidated. Despite being the largest retail and banking corporation, they couldn't even afford renovations. A clear sign of corruption among those in charge."Sir, where would you like to go first?" Jac asked, scanning the area as if taking mental notes. We ensured that our presence would leave an impression on everyone here."This building is enormous, sir, but I’m sure we won’t get lost."I responded with a sly grin, noting how Jac had deliberately spoken loud enough for others

Jane was one of the rebound relationships I had, just to forget about Dorry back then. But no matter how many rebound girlfriends I had, none of them could erase what I still felt for Dorry.“You’re so self-centered, Nelson as if we never had anything between us,” she said, rubbing her belly.I just scratched my head and smiled, though it was a sarcastic smile. Out of all my rebounds, she was the one who lasted the longest.“In fairness, though,” she added, playfully hitting me on the arm. “You’re still handsome. You’re even more handsome now. And it seems like you smell better too, compared to before.”I scratched my head again, giving her a forced smile. I wasn’t in the mood to chat. Even Jac, who had been quiet beside me, rubbed the back of his head uncomfortably. We were about to leave, but Jane blocked our way.“You’re so quiet. How have you been, Nelson? If I had known we’d meet again, I wouldn’t have made you my wedding godfather. You could’ve been the godfather of my second ba

I couldn't stop sighing, holding Dorry's hand. I've been staring at her for a while now. I kept pressing her hand to my lips repeatedly."Dorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I must sound like a broken record, constantly apologizing, but she can't hear me.It's my fault she's here in the hospital. I'm the reason she lost consciousness. I pushed her to talk, making her suffer even more. I, too, was in so much pain. I couldn’t sit still; it felt like I was going insane. That’s why I became harsh. I shouted at her, yelled at her until she couldn’t take it anymore. But I didn’t mean to do that. All I wanted was to get an answer to yet another riddle she left me with. I wanted my suffering to end. But she’s so stubborn."Sir Nelson, I apologize for the disturbance." I glanced at Jac, then turned my attention back to Dorry, still asleep."I know you're not in the right state of mind because of what happened with your wife, but you need to go to the company now.""I’m not leaving. I won’t leave unt

Weak and barely able to see the path ahead because of the tears blurring my vision, I forced myself to keep walking. I tried desperately to erase the memories that were tormenting my heart."I hate you, Nelson! I hate you!" I repeated over and over, just as I kept trying to push away the memories crushing my heart. But no matter what I did, they wouldn’t disappear. Every scene played back in my mind.***FlashbackIsland, Year 2001 Before the boat even docked, I stood up. My neck stretched long, practically like a telescope, as I strained to catch sight of the faces on the pier. I was hoping to spot Nelson right away so I could tell him the good news—finally, I could confess my feelings for him, feelings I thought I could forget but couldn’t.I gently caressed my belly, unable to wipe the smile off my face. Though a small part of me felt nervous, my happiness overshadowed it.I knew I had hurt Nelson when I left. I didn’t even wait for him to step off the boat. I didn’t give him a ch

NelsonDorry’s hand immediately pressed against my chest to stop what she thought I was about to do. My eyes widened, and the mischievous smile on my lips gradually faded.I had been so excited to surprise her, but now I didn’t know what to say. Hurt bubbled up inside me. It felt like she was afraid of me—like she truly believed I’d do something she wouldn’t like. Did she really think I was like Hector? I’d already learned my lesson from what happened before—it had backfired on me.“Nelson, enough with your nonsense. Put me down, please!”“Nonsense, Dorry? Does everything I do have to be nonsense to you?” I asked seriously, carefully lowering her to the ground.“Wasn’t what you said earlier nonsense? And what you’re doing now—isn’t this nonsense? Bringing me to a room in a mansion that isn’t even yours—isn’t that nonsense?”I let out a short laugh. “You know, Dorry, it wasn’t nonsense when I said I wanted to make you happy. I just wanted to give you something I knew would make you smi

"Nelson, can you behave? There are so many people here, yet you still manage to flirt," I whispered, my tone calm, but I couldn't mask the irritation in my voice."I'm the one you're blaming again? You're the one who woke up my..."I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Honestly, I just wanted to shove him away, but he was enjoying the way he had me wrapped up in his arms. The real problem, though, was Hector still standing there, too embarrassed to leave."Nelson, let go of me. This is too much," I said, barely parting my lips.I was making sure my fake smile stayed in place. The maids—just like Hector—were still in front of us, watching, grinning, just like Nelson. That playful, crazy Nelson held me like he had all the time in the world, wrapping me up in an endless embrace."Can't you hear what I'm saying?" I whispered again, but Nelson only flashed that annoying grin."No... I hear something else. The cry of your lower belly... I mean, your heart, calling my name," he t
