Chapter 5

مؤلف: Mint Soda
It was not until the sky turned dark that the three of them finally came out of the amusement park.

Levi had played for the entire afternoon and was covered in sweat. He was the first to jog over to the lounge and sit down.

Seeing someone selling ice cream, his eyes lit up. He pointed at the vendor and ordered Quinn.

"Nanny Quinn, I want ice cream! Get some for me right now!"

After saying that, he muttered softly to himself.

"You're just a nanny now, not my mom. You can't control me."

Because Levi had suffered a difficult birth, his health had been fragile since infancy. The doctor had explicitly instructed them to pay close attention to his health and try their best to keep him from falling ill.

Over the past five years of caring for him, she had poured all of her energy into him.

She would wake up four times a night to check his blankets, study nutritional guides to prepare balanced meals, and take him out for gentle exercise to build his immunity.

Right now, eating ice cream while drenched in sweat would make it extremely easy for Levi to catch a cold. In the past, Quinn would have firmly refused and gently coaxed him while handing over a cup of water instead.

Now, however, her gaze swept over the beads of sweat on his forehead, and she merely replied calmly, "Alright."

Levi widened his eyes in absolute disbelief. Could amnesia really turn a mother into a completely different person?

He could not help asking again, "Really?"

Quinn bought an ice cream, handed it to him, and proved her answer through her action.

"From now on, I won't stop you from getting anything you want."

Including wanting Charlotte to be your mother.

Daniel walked over, saw the ice cream in his son's hand, and frowned. He subconsciously looked at Quinn and asked, "Why are you letting him eat ice cream?"

"He wanted it."

Daniel was nowhere near satisfied with this response. He stared at the calm-faced woman before him with a heavy gaze.

Quinn had never allowed their son to eat ice cream while dripping with sweat before.

Even though she had lost her memory, this was the child she had carried for nine months. Was there really not a single trace of maternal instinct left inside her?

Charlotte's eyes flickered as she witnessed this scene. She wiped the sweat from Levi's forehead and offered a thoughtful suggestion.

"Daniel, let us head back. Levi is exhausted after playing for the entire afternoon."

Levi also chimed in beside them, clamoring to go home.

Perhaps because he was exhausted from playing, Levi fell into a deep sleep in Charlotte's arms the moment he stepped into the car.

Quinn looked at the "mother and son" embracing each other in the rearview mirror. She tugged at the corner of her mouth and shifted her gaze out the window.

At that exact moment, an out-of-control heavy truck suddenly hurtled toward them!

The driver instinctively yanked the steering wheel hard to dodge it, and the car slammed violently into a roadside utility pole, its front hood crushed out of shape.

"Mom, are you okay?!"

Quinn was sitting in the front passenger seat. The deployed airbag struck her, leaving her mind muddled and dizzy. Hearing Levi's panicked cries, she subconsciously searched for his figure.

When she struggled to turn her body around, she discovered that Levi was holding Charlotte's hand, staring with eyes full of worry at a bloody scrape caused by a shard of broken glass on her palm.

Anxious beyond measure, Levi kept tugging at Daniel's sleeve.

"Dad, Mom's bleeding! We have to take her to the hospital right now!"

Charlotte was also trembling all over from fear, her eyes bloodshot.

Daniel looked at Quinn sitting in the front seat, a flash of struggle passing through his eyes.

"But..."

"Nanny Quinn has an airbag. She'll be fine!"

Before he could finish, Levi impatiently interrupted him. He pulled both him and Charlotte straight out the door to exit the car. "Mom needs her hands to play the piano. She cannot suffer even the slightest injury!"

"Daniel, my hand..." Charlotte's choked sob caused Daniel to make up his mind.

"Quinn, wait here for the rescue team."

After saying that, he took Charlotte and Levi, hailed a taxi, and left.

Pinned in the passenger seat and unable to move, Quinn could only watch as the three figures walked away. The father and son shielded Charlotte tightly between them, never looking back even once.

When a car accident had occurred back then, she had been willing to push Levi away without caring for her own life. Yet now, this father and son were not even willing to reach out a hand to pull her out of the vehicle.

A desolate smile pulled at the corners of Quinn's lips.

The very last shred of attachment she held in her heart for them had been completely broken.

Seeing her reaction, Daniel, who had remained silent the entire time, could not hold back any longer and looked at her pleadingly."Quinn, you're lying to us, aren't you? Charlotte had never expected the father and son to return so suddenly. Pale with terror, she hung up, shoved her phone under the pillow, and forced a rigid smile, pretending nothing had happened."Daniel, Levi, I...""Enough!" Daniel interrupted her in a harsh voice. He no longer had the patience or the mind to listen to her lies."Charlotte, I never imagined you were such a calculating woman!"The man's voice, heavy with suppressed fury, choked back every bit of justification Charlotte was about to utter. She immediately shifted into a tearful, sobbing front, weeping as she begged them."Daniel, I was just speaking recklessly out of anger just now! It was only because I thought I had suffered an allergic reaction today because of Quinn!"Daniel had not expected her to still be making excuses, even attempting to throw all the blame onto Quinn."You're still lying!"He threw the iPad playing the security footage onto the bed before her. Her pupils shrank, the panic on her face t
