Chapter 7

مؤلف: Mint Soda
Quinn's lower back slammed right into the corner of the table. Excruciating pain swept across her body, and cold sweat instantly broke out on her forehead.

She struggled to support her body and explained, "I didn't do it."

Levi, however, did not believe her. Disregarding her repeated explanations, he ordered the bodyguards to drag her to the living room.

At this moment, red rashes covered Charlotte's entire body, and she lay in Daniel's arms with a deathly pale face.

"Quinn, I never expected you to be so malicious," Daniel's voice said, suppressing extreme rage.

"Daniel..." Charlotte spoke weakly. "Perhaps... Ms. Quinn didn't mean to do it."

Seeing her weak, threadlike state, Levi felt so heartbroken that tears welled up in his eyes.

"Mom, stop speaking up for her! She was in the kitchen the whole time. She definitely wanted to harm you, so she added the mango juice!"

Quinn suddenly found the situation deeply ironic.

Whenever anything happened to Charlotte, it was always her fault in their eyes. Yet they forgot that she was currently merely a nanny for the Hortons. What reason would a simple nanny have to harm the Mrs. Horton?

Her lower back was still throbbing with pain, but she repeated once more, "I didn't do it."

"Shut up! Mom's already like this, yet you're still denying it!" Levi yelled at her, completely consumed by anger. "Dad, she harmed Mom! We should punish her!"

Daniel's fists clenched subconsciously. He looked at Quinn with complex eyes, but noticing the person in his arms growing weaker by the second, he closed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Alright."

With that, he picked Charlotte up and rushed toward the hospital.

"Nanny Quinn," Levi waved his small hand with a stern face, signaling two bodyguards to pin Quinn down on both sides. "You taught me that if someone does something wrong, they must accept their punishment."

Immediately, he instructed a staff member to bring over a glass of milk.

Quinn looked at Levi in sheer disbelief. She had a severe dairy allergy, and Levi knew this!

She struggled with all her strength but was no match for the bodyguards' firm grip. The moment the milk entered her mouth, she felt her throat close, and her entire body collapsed onto the floor.

Through her blurred vision, she saw the cold indifference on Levi's face.

Her own son had personally forced her to drink milk that could trigger a fatal reaction, all for the sake of another woman. How laughably tragic that he had become the sharpest blade aimed straight at her heart.

Quinn could no longer hold on. Her vision went black, and she lost consciousness.

When she woke up again, she was already lying in a hospital bed.

Seeing her open her eyes, Daniel immediately nudged Levi, whose small face was tense.

"Apologize to Nanny Quinn."

"I'm sorry," Levi said so quietly that one could hardly hear.

A deeply sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of Quinn's mouth.

One of them had permitted her punishment, while the other had personally triggered her allergic reaction. Who were they putting on this act for now?

"I didn't expect the punishment Levi mentioned to be..." Daniel wanted to explain.

"Rest assured, though. You were brought to the hospital in time, and the doctor said it was nothing major. Levi only wanted to vent his frustration on Charlotte's behalf. If you hadn't added mango juice to Charlotte's drink, this wouldn't have happened—"

"I know I was wrong," Quinn interrupted his words calmly.

Daniel froze, and Levi looked at her with a bewildered expression.

She repeated once more, "I already know I was wrong."

Her mistake was being in this marriage and giving birth to a son who did not love her.

The expressions on both their faces softened considerably.

Levi muttered softly, "Hmph. If you had just admitted your mistake earlier, you wouldn't have suffered so much."

"That's good. How are you feeling n—" Before Daniel could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by the ringing of his cell phone.

He did not know what was said on the other end, but undisguised joy surfaced on his face.

"Alright, I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, he looked at Levi. "The doctor said Mom's awake."

Levi jumped up in pure excitement and immediately pulled Daniel's hand toward the door.

"Then let us go and find her! She's so weak right now and will definitely be sad if we aren't by her side!"

Quinn lay in the hospital bed, listening to the hasty footsteps of the two leaving, a faint smile tugging at her lips.

Just then, her phone chimed.

[Quinn, your ride has arrived.]

At that moment, Quinn revealed her first genuine smile in days.

She processed her discharge paperwork on her own. Just as she was about to go downstairs, she spotted two familiar figures at the corner of the stairwell.

Daniel crouched down, looking at Levi with a serious expression.

"Levi, today's the last day for Aunt Charlotte to be your mom. Tonight, we must tell your mother the entire truth."

Levi twirled his fingers, nodding somewhat reluctantly.

"Alright. I'm already very happy that Aunt Charlotte could be my mom for seven days."

As he spoke, a hint of anxiety appeared on his face. He grabbed Daniel's hand with urgency and asked, "Dad, but I triggered Mom's allergy today. What if Mom gets angry with me after she finds out the truth?"

Daniel fell silent for a moment before reassuring him, "She won't. You only wanted to make her realize her mistake. Besides, you're her child. She won't be angry with you."

Hearing Daniel's reassurance, Levi finally put his mind at ease.

Looking at the father and son, Quinn felt no further emotion in her heart. She need not be angry. After all, starting today, they had nothing to do with her anymore.

Withdrawing her gaze, Quinn hailed a taxi straight back to the villa.

After quickly packing her luggage, she stepped into the private car sent to pick her up.

As the vehicle started, she took one last look at the home she had lived in for seven years.

'Daniel, Levi, I'm granting your wish and giving up the positions of wife and mother. From now on, we will never see each other again.'

Charlotte had never expected the father and son to return so suddenly. Pale with terror, she hung up, shoved her phone under the pillow, and forced a rigid smile, pretending nothing had happened."Daniel, Levi, I...""Enough!" Daniel interrupted her in a harsh voice. He no longer had the patience or the mind to listen to her lies."Charlotte, I never imagined you were such a calculating woman!"The man's voice, heavy with suppressed fury, choked back every bit of justification Charlotte was about to utter. She immediately shifted into a tearful, sobbing front, weeping as she begged them."Daniel, I was just speaking recklessly out of anger just now! It was only because I thought I had suffered an allergic reaction today because of Quinn!"Daniel had not expected her to still be making excuses, even attempting to throw all the blame onto Quinn."You're still lying!"He threw the iPad playing the security footage onto the bed before her. Her pupils shrank, the panic on her face t
