LAUREN'S POV

As I stood in front of him — arms crossed, chest heaving, my words still echoing in the air — I expected defiance. Maybe even silence. I braced myself for Ethan to shake his head, tell me no, maybe walk away like he always did when things got uncomfortable.

But instead… he laughed.

Laughed.

A deep, shameless laugh that cut deeper than any insult could have. His shoulders moved slightly with each chuckle, and he stared at me like I’d just told the funniest joke in the world.

I raised a brow, confused and disgusted. “What’s so funny?” I asked.

He wiped an invisible tear from the corner of his eye. “And why exactly would I do that?”

My stomach twisted. “Because you’re a married man, Ethan,” I said through gritted teeth. “You already have a family. You have a daughter. You have me. And even if you don’t have the decency to do it for me, at least do it for Elena.”

I paused, hoping — begging — for something in him to soften. For a trace of the man I once loved to show th

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 021

SOFIA'S POVThe juice still in my hand, my fingers tightened around the cold glass as those memories came flooding back to me.After I saw that familiar woman next to him in the photos, everything became painfully clear: if I wanted Ethan back, I would have to fight for it.No, I deserved him. That woman — Lauren, as I later learned — was standing where I was meant to be. And I wasn’t about to let that happen.I promised myself, right then and there, that I would do everything in my power to get that slut out of his life.To reclaim what was mine.Ethan belonged to me; his wealth, his power, his attention — it was all supposed to be mine from the start. After that day, I couldn’t sleep properly. My mind was on fire, twisting and turning around the same thought: How do I get him back? Then, the perfect plan slowly took shape.Since Ethan had become a public figure, everything about him was out there: the events he attended, the places he dined, even photos of him arriving at his compan

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 020

SOFIA'S POVI finally got back home to my apartment and slipped my shoes off by the door, letting out a long sigh. Geez, the whole day had been exhausting. My feet were sore, my back ached, and the tension in my shoulders felt like stone. But despite it all, I felt good — actually, better than good. I felt satisfied.Because today, I’d finally done something I’d been wanting to do for so long. I had faced that so-called wife of Ethan’s — Lauren — and shown her, without saying it outright, that I wasn’t just another fling he’d hide away in the dark. No, I was different. I was the woman carrying his child. That fact alone changed everything. It gave me leverage, power — a path forward that belonged to me and no one else.I made my way over to the fridge and pulled out a chilled bottle of orange juice. I found a clean glass, set it gently on the counter, and poured myself a drink. As I watched the juice swirl and settle, a small, satisfied smile curved across my lips. I really am the ult

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 019

ETHAN'S POV “Talk about a stressful day,” I whispered to myself, still trying to stop thinking about everything that just went down a few minutes ago. At least this day wasn’t that bad though, especially when I was at the office, as usual, Sofia knew how to always satisfy me even as she’s pregnant. I lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, and for the first time in what felt like ages, I let my mind drift backward — to where it all really began. Back at college when I first met Sofia. She wasn’t the smartest in the lecture hall, nor the kindest soul on campus. But damn, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. From the very first glance, it felt like the air shifted around her. The way she walked — graceful, deliberate, each step measured like she knew exactly what effect she had on everyone watching. And she did. Sofia absolutely knew. Back then, I was still riding the wave of my late father’s investments. The money felt endless — enough to live large, to impre

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 018

ETHAN'S POV I stood there at the top of the stairs, my hand gripping the smooth wooden railing so tightly my knuckles turned white. I watched Rosa step back into the house, no longer carrying any luggage. She didn’t dare look at me directly, only offered a quick respectful bow before hurrying back to the kitchen, leaving the hallway painfully quiet. I kept my eyes fixed on the front door, waiting… half-expecting to see it swing open again. Maybe she’d change her mind. Maybe she’d remember who she was, where she belonged, and come running back in — face flushed with regret, eyes soft and pleading, the way she used to look at me when she felt she’d crossed a line. Minutes passed. The door stayed shut. Nothing but the faint ticking of the clock on the living room wall. A disappointed sigh escaped me before I could stop it. “So she actually went through with it,” I muttered under my breath. For a moment, it felt absurd. Lauren. Leaving me. Actually walking out of my house with our da

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 017

LAUREN'S POVElena just gave me a small nod, then slowly pushed her blanket aside and slipped out of bed, her little feet touching the cool floor. My chest tightened watching her – so small, so innocent, and yet about to be pulled into something she didn’t ask for.I got up, my fingers trembling slightly as I opened her small wardrobe and started packing her essentials. Her favorite pajamas, the little yellow dress she loved to twirl in, some leggings, and sweaters – because nights could get cold wherever we ended up. I folded them carefully, almost as if each piece of cloth carried my hope to keep her life feeling normal, despite everything falling apart. Then I packed her school bag – her books, her pencils, and her colored pens that she used to draw those pictures that broke my heart earlier. Even if we were leaving, I wanted to keep her routine as stable as possible. She would still go to school, she would still draw, laugh, and live like every child deserved to.Behind me, her sm

  • No Second Chances, Ex-husband   CHAPTER 016

LAUREN'S POVAt that, Ethan’s face darkened, his jaw tightening until the muscles stood out sharply against his skin. “I don’t care if you leave,” he hissed through clenched teeth, his voice cold enough to make the air feel icy between us. “But you see her? You’re not taking her anywhere.”“I am,” I shot back, the words slipping past my lips before I could second-guess myself. My heart pounded in my chest like a warning drum, but beneath the fear, there was something stronger — something fierce. “She’s my daughter too, Ethan. And she doesn’t deserve to grow up in a home where her father treats her mother like this.”His eyes narrowed, and he took another slow, deliberate step forward until he was towering over me. The shadows of the room seemed to grow around him, making him look larger, darker, more threatening. “You can’t just walk out of here and take her,” he barked, his voice echoing in the silence of the bedroom.“So what do you want me to do?” I snapped, my voice rising despite
