Ryan’s POV

“Uncle Ry-Ry!” Molly squealed with excitement and vaulted off the sofa. “I thought you weren’t coming!”

I caught her mid-jump and swung her in circles.

Those precious giggles made the day’s weariness melt off my bones.

“I told you I’d visit you tonight, Mols.” I grinned, setting her down.

“You’re late.” My niece glared up at me and shook a finger. “You’re lucky Mommy let me stay up past bedtime to see you.”

I wagged her favorite hazelnut chocolate in front of her.

“I guess you’re too angry with me to accept this.” I sighed and pretended I was going to open it. “I’ll just have to eat this my–”

She tried to jump for the chocolate, but I held it above my head.

“Only if you promise to eat it tomorrow–I don’t want your mom to murder me.” I said, glancing sideways with feigned fear.

Molly nodded solemnly. “Mommy will definitely murder you… Okay, I promise.” I handed her the chocolate, and her big innocent eyes suddenly gleamed with malice. “Only if you promise to take me to visit

Molly’s POVI didn't like school anymore. It used to be easy. People used to listen when I talked. They used to look at me like I was special. Vanessa always said I was special. Well, she used to. Before Atlas came and took all her attention like a greedy little monster with his tiny hands and his stupid baby noises. Now when I tried to talk to her, she just said, “Not now, Bonnie, I’m feeding your brother,” or “Go play by yourself, Bonnie, I’m busy,” or “Don’t be clingy, Bonnie, you’re a big girl now.”But she didn't say that to Atlas. She never said he should take care of himself. She never said he was too big to need her.And Daddy was tired all the time and angry, so when I tried to talk, he just sighed and rubbed his forehead and said, “Later, sweetheart.”But “later” never came. So I thought… maybe if people at school treated me like I was important, it wouldn't matter what happened at home. But now… everything was wrong. It started at recess when I told Nora and Tilly that Molly

Molly’s POVI liked mornings the best.Because in the morning, Aunt Celeste always hugged me before school. She smelled like vanilla and the shiny polish she used on jewelry, and when she squeezed me, it felt like my heart got warmer, like a little candle lighting up.And Uncle Ry-ry carried my backpack even though I told him I could do it.He always said, “You’re strong, Mol, but let me take care of you too.”Nobody ever said that to me before them. Not Mama Vivian. Not Papa Steven. They always said, “Not now, Molly, we’re busy.”I used to think maybe I was too much… or too loud… or too little for them to love properly. But Aunt Celeste and Uncle Ry-ry made me feel like I was just enough. So when Bonnie stood in front of me in the school hallway that morning, arms crossed, chin high, and said loudly:“You’re just a street kid nobody wanted,”…I didn't feel small. My chest still hurt a little, but I didn't crumble the way she wanted me to.I held my lunchbox tighter. The one Aunt Celes

Celeste’s POVI signed my name slowly, one clean stroke after another, watching the black ink settle into the parchment-colored paper like a commitment I could no longer take back.Rosemary Atelier was officially going to work with Beaumont International. A collaboration people in the industry would either applaud… or quietly wait to see crash and burn.“Congratulations, Ms. Sinclair.”Mr. Beaumont’s voice was smooth, diplomatic, the kind of tone that held confidence without ever showing its teeth. “We’re honored to seal this partnership.”I exhaled, offering him a composed smile. “The honor is mutual. Rosemary is ready.”We had spent the last two hours finalizing the last points, exclusivity clauses, shared creative rights, press schedules. An entire legal forest of language that could make or break the next chapter of Rosemary Atelier. And now it was done.A three-year collaboration. A winter capsule collection, fully co-branded, to be unveiled at the Beaumont Winter Gala, an event s

Bonnie’s POVI don’t like mornings anymore. They used to be fun. Daddy would carry me downstairs like a princess, and Vanessa would kiss my cheek and call me her “little star.”Now everything is different.Everything is loud and messy and stupid because Atlas cries all the time, and when he cries, Vanessa acts like I don’t even exist.Today she didn’t even look at me. Not once. She was too busy holding Atlas like he was made of gold and diamonds. His hair is soft and shiny, and everyone keeps saying how pretty he is. But I’m pretty too. No one said it today.Daddy rushed me through breakfast because we were late. When I tried to tell him my shoe felt weird, he said, “Bonnie, not now, sweetheart.”He didn’t even check. He always checks.I wanted to throw my bowl. I didn’t, though. Daddy gets tired faster now, and his eyes look heavy.Maybe Atlas stole his sleep. Maybe babies do that. When we got to school, Daddy barely walked me to the gate. He just squeezed my shoulder and said, “Have

Celeste’s POVI always loved school mornings but lately they carried a different kind of warmth.A steadiness. A rhythm that belonged to the three of us.Ryan took Molly’s backpack from her little arms like he always did, slinging it over his shoulder even though it was almost comically small on him.Molly trotted between us, humming under her breath, holding both our hands. And for the first time in years, I felt the shape of something I never thought I’d have again.A family. When we stepped past the school gates, Molly leaned against Ryan’s side, and he ruffled her hair. She giggled, bright and unguarded, and my heart softened in my chest. The sight of them together did something to me every time, like a quiet promise settling into place. Then Damien’s car pulled up.I saw the exhaustion before he even opened the door. The stiff jaw, the dark circles, the irritated way he pushed his fingers through his hair.He looked like a man fraying at the edges, probably from newborn chaos, sle

Vanessa’s POVI knew the moment he did it.Damien thought he was discreet, slipping out in the evening, pretending he was “dropping off paperwork,” coming back smelling faintly of antiseptic and guilt. But I’ve lived my entire life reading men like him, watching for the slightest twitch, the smallest inconsistency.By the time he climbed into bed that night, stiff and restless, I already knew what he had done.He sent Atlas’s sample for a paternity test.My son.And the fury that surged through me was cold. I didn’t flinch. I didn’t scream. I didn’t even breathe differently.Instead, I smiled faintly in the dark and whispered, “Long day?”He murmured something. I didn’t care.He had doubted me. After everything, the humiliation I endured to be by his side, the way I rebuilt myself and our future after Celeste, the sacrifices I made without ever complaining, he doubted me.It was true that Atlas wasn’t his, but why was Damien even suspecting it?I should have expected it. Men like Damie
