Ryan’s POV

“Sit down.”

My father’s voice could have frozen a room.

The blinds in his office were half-shut, slicing the morning light across his face like bars.

He didn’t even look up from the folder on his desk.

I didn’t sit. “The board knows now. You wanted transparency—congratulations.”

Maximilian finally glanced up, mouth twisted in a sneer “You think this is funny?”

“I think it’s predictable,” I said. “Vanessa stirred the pot and you let her. You believed every word she fed you.”

He leaned back, exhaling through his nose. “I believed the proof she showed me.”

“Proof?” I scoffed. “You mean the documents she conveniently found after Vivian tried to expose her?”

His jaw tightened. “The documents were verified.”

“By who?” I asked, stepping closer. “Her contacts? Her made-up experts? You don’t see it, do you? She’s been playing you since the start.”

“Enough.” His voice cut through the room like a whip. “Vivian and Steven were siphoning money through black-market purchases. It’s all rig

Celeste’s POVIt had been two weeks since Ryan stood in front of everyone and apologized. Two weeks since he’d said my name in that quiet, steady voice that still made something inside me splinter. And yet, he kept coming.Every morning, at precisely nine, the elevator would open, and there he was.A faint smile for Jenny, a polite nod for Grace, and then he’d take his place at the far desk, the one facing the window. He didn’t say much. He barely even looked at me.Just sat there, hunched over his bench, carving wax molds with a focus so sharp it made the whole room feel smaller. His fingers moved in that patient rhythm he’d always had, shaping silver and silence at the same time.It drove me insane.“Does he seriously not talk to anyone?” Rachel muttered one afternoon, leaning over my desk with a cup of coffee.“He talks when he needs to,” I said.Rachel snorted. “Yeah, like a monk.”I didn’t reply. I didn’t trust myself to.Because the truth was, his silence wasn’t cold.It was mea

Vanessa’s POVI’d been awake since dawn. Not because of the nausea, that had become background noise by now, but because I couldn’t stop smiling. The plan was set. The board meeting had been moved up.None of them, not Maximilian, not his precious prodigal son, knew.A few phone calls, a few favors.Men in suits were always eager to please a woman with the right kind of desperation and the right kind of smile.Six months pregnant or not, I still knew how to turn a weakness into leverage.By nine a.m., the conference room on the twenty-second floor buzzed with confused murmurs.Crown Luxe’s board of directors rarely assembled on short notice. Especially not without Maximilian himself calling it.Perfect.I adjusted the emerald pin on my blazer and walked in, heels clicking with my chin high.“Good morning, gentlemen,” I said sweetly. “Thank you for making the time. I know the notice was short, but there’s a pressing matter that requires transparency.”That word transparency always made

Ryan’s POVThe front glass doors reflected my face before I pushed them open.Rosemary Atelier was half-dark, the way it looked after hours when everyone was ready to go home.I could hear soft chatter from the back room.I hesitated at the threshold.Everyone here knew now.The truth about who I was.Ryan Edwards, not the assistant, not the quiet designer who stayed late polishing gemstones, but the son of Crown Luxe’s infamous empire. And the man who’d lied to their boss.Grace saw me first. She was pulling on her coat, car keys dangling between her fingers.“Well, if it isn’t the prince himself,” she said, voice sharp. “Should we be bowing?”“Grace,” I said quietly. “I didn’t come to—”“To what? Pretend you’re still one of us?” She crossed her arms. “You fooled everyone, Ryan. Especially Celeste.”I swallowed hard. “That wasn’t my intention.”“Oh, please.” She laughed under her breath. “You think we’re stupid? You think she’s stupid?”Her words landed heavy. I didn’t answer. She til

Vanessa’s POVThe nerve of them all.The nerve of her.I slammed my coffee cup on Damien’s kitchen table, spilling half of it onto the newspaper. The headline glared up at me.Heiress Breaks Off Engagement — Ryan Edwards Confesses Love for Another Woman.I didn’t even need to read the article. I knew who that “other woman” was.“Celeste Sinclair,” I hissed under my breath, like the name itself tasted bitter. “Of course.”Damien was sitting opposite me, slouched, his hair sticking up at odd angles. He hadn’t shaved, and there was a grayish look to his face that made me want to shake him.“You look like hell,” I said flatly. “Still thinking about your ex-wife?”He didn’t respond, just rubbed his temples.“Oh, don’t tell me you’re feeling bad for her.” I laughed, without any humor. “She’s probably sitting in her perfect little studio, pretending to be shocked. Like she didn’t enjoy being the secret lover of the moment.”“Vanessa.” Damien’s tone was low, warning.“What?” I lifted a brow. “

Ryan’s POVThe security guard didn’t even try to stop me this time.Guess my father had already stopped pretending I wasn’t his son.The elevator ride up to the top floor of Crown Luxe was silent except for the dull hum of tension vibrating in my chest. The mirrored walls reflected a face that didn’t quite look like mine. It was eerily calm. The kind of calm that came only when you had nothing left to lose. When the doors slid open, Mr. Davis, my father’s assistant, flinched like he’d seen a ghost.“Mr. Ryan,” he stammered. “He’s expecting you.”“Of course he is.” I brushed past him and entered the office.Maximilian Edwards sat behind his massive oak desk, back straight, jaw tight, the city skyline burning gold behind him.He didn’t look up right away, just kept flipping through a file as though I were another tedious meeting on his schedule.“Son,” he said finally, voice sharp as glass. “You’ve caused quite the spectacle.”I leaned against the door, hands in my pockets. “Good morning
