Nora took a long, steady breath before stepping into the office that, not long ago, had belonged to Noah. Technically, it still did… until his mother decided she was done occupying it.

She was grateful she’d worn the fitted corporate outfit Mira had given her. If she’d walked in wearing one of her soft, easy-flowing dresses, Rosa Bamford might’ve asked security to escort her out before she could even introduce herself.

Still, even in tailored slacks and a sleek blouse, Nora felt like a child walking into the principal’s office.

“Good day, ma'am,” she said, with a composed smile. “You asked to see me?”

The answer came instantly… cold, flat, and uninterested.

“Yes,” Rosa’s chin lifted only barely. “Nora, is it?”

“Yes, ma'am.”

Only then did Rosa look up fully, her sharp eyes sweeping over Nora from head to toe. Her gaze paused on the modest necklace resting above Nora’s collarbone, then dropped to her folded hands, then back to her face.

ϖϖϖϖϖRosa Bamford didn’t trust Ava Marshall. Not even a little. The girl was loud, reckless, and entirely unsuitable… everything Rosa despised wrapped in designer heels. If it were up to her, Ava wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the Bamford name. But if she was truly carrying Noah’s child…That changed things.Rosa didn’t care how vulgar or embarrassing the girl was. If the baby inside her carried Bamford blood, then it would be acknowledged. Maybe not with open arms, but at least with a plan.Still, her instincts twisted uneasily. Something about this felt staged. And Rosa hated games."So,” she said coolly, eyes fixed on the man across from her, “what did you find?"Detective Abel remained unfazed. By now, he was used to her … her harsh tongue, her hunger for control.“She’s pregnant,” he confirmed. “At least, according to medical records.”Rosa’s lips tightened. "According to?”Abel inclined his head. “She’s been claiming it consistently. And for the last six months, the only man

ϖϖϖϖϖNora stood frozen, her heart pounding so hard it felt louder than the silence around them. She didn’t know what to say. Didn’t know how to move. Her eyes stayed on Noah, but her thoughts scattered… replaying everything, searching for something that made sense. Nothing did.She wanted to cry, but the tears wouldn’t come. She wanted to scream, but her throat felt locked.Something inside her had cracked, and now everything felt too heavy to hold. Why hadn’t he just told her the truth? Why had he let her believe… again… that she was losing something she had barely begun to hold onto? You should’ve told me. I would’ve stood by you. I would’ve understood. But now… this feels like too much.A bitter sound slipped from her throat before she could stop it.“Ha,” she laughed softly, hollow. Even her own voice sounded unfamiliar. “So, you lied about meeting her… and you already knew she was pregnant?” Her voice rose despite herself. “What is this, Noah? Why does it feel like I just lost a

ϖϖϖϖϖNora stared at Ava, her mind refusing to process the words she’d just heard. Her mouth opened, closed… opened again, but no sound came out."Calm down," she told herself desperately. There’s no way this is true. Noah can’t be the father… if she’s even pregnant at all. This is just Ava doing what she does best. Hurting you. After a long, awkward silence, Nora finally forced her voice to work. "Well… congratulations, I guess.” Her tone sounded foreign to her own ears. “But about the baby, does No—”"Yes."Ava cut her off instantly.Nora blinked. "What?""If you’re asking whether Noah knows, he does." Ava’s tone was casual. Almost bored. "He was with me when I told him."The room tilted."He was… with you?” Nora whispered. Her stomach dropped. So that’s why he hadn’t answered when she called?"Yes," Ava smiled wider. "And since you’re wondering… his mother knows too."Nora’s chest tightened. "You told Mrs. Bamford too? What... what did she do?"Ava laughed… a loud, soulless sound t

ϖϖϖϖϖ"You still can't find him?" Nora asked, her eyes narrowing on Max, filled with frustration, "Did you check his office?""Yes, Ma'am, I did," Max replied, calmly. “It’s empty.”"The meeting room?""All of them," he confirmed. "Why don’t you try calling him?""I did," she sighed, rubbing her temples in agitation. "He's not picking up."She hesitated, then added, "What about Lucas?”Max shook his head. “Out with a client. Off-site.”"And Noah isn’t with him?""I don’t believe so."Nora let out a frustrated breath. “Then where the hell did he go?”After his confrontation with Rosa, she’d expected anger, maybe a slammed door. She hadn’t expected that… their raised voice, the shockwave it sent through the entire floor. And then Noah stormed out before she could even reach the doorway.Part of Nora

Noah stormed out, shoulders fitted with tension, as he headed straight to the unreasonably large office tucked at the far end of the floor… a space originally meant for the CEO.He’d always hated it.
