Arlo sat on the balcony with his legs stretched out in front of him, one hand resting loosely around the glass on the small table beside his chair.

The night air was cool against his skin, carrying the distant sounds of Manhattan up between the towers. From the balcony, the city looked almost peaceful. Traffic moved in slow streams several floors below, headlights slipping between buildings while the windows of neighboring apartments glowed warmly against the darkness.

  • Nora and Her Unexpected Billionaire    Group dinner

The afternoon sun hung high over the private sports club, casting a warm glow across the large outdoor basketball court where Arlo and Ben had been playing for an hour.“You’re cheating,” Ben complained, catching the ball after it bounced away from him. “There’s no way you move that fast.”Arlo wiped the back of his hand across his forehead. “You’re just getting slower.”“I’m thirty-three, not eighty.”“Could have fooled me.”Ben gave him an offended look before tossing the ball toward him again.Arlo caught it easily, but before he could return the shot, his phone began ringing from the bench nearby. He walked over and picked it up.It was his mother.“Hi, Mom.”“Arlo, I wanted to let you know that dinner with Ben’s father has been scheduled for next Friday.”“Next Friday?”“Yes. Your father wants everyone there, and it’s important that you clear your schedule for the day. I don’t want you making plans that could interfere with it.”Arlo glanced toward Ben, who was drinking from his

  • Nora and Her Unexpected Billionaire    Arlo’s apartment

The morning light cut softly through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the penthouse, waking Nora up into a quiet haze. For a second, she just stared at the high ceiling, completely confused about where she was until the layout of the room clicked.Arlo’s apartment. Then she felt a heavy, warm weight pressing right against her middle.Nora reached down, peeling back the thick white duvet, and her face went hot. Arlo was buried under her oversized shirt, his arms wrapped around her waist as he snuggled against her. Since she only had the shirt on, the sudden sight made her flustered. She calmly tapped his shoulder a few times."Arlo. Wake up.""Arlo?"He didn't move. She reached down and calmly tapped his shoulder."Arlo."He stirred.Instead of pulling his head out from under the fabric, Arlo just shifted closer. He pressed a warm kiss directly to her stomach, his teeth biting her skin softly."Arlo!"Nora looked down through the wide collar hole of her shirt."Are you going to stay under

She had left the bedroom door open, and Arlo could occasionally hear the soft clatter of bottles and the running water from where she was washing her face.He glanced toward the glass doors when he heard her humming quietly to herself.A small smile touched his mouth. Then his phone began vibrating against the table. He answered.

  • Nora and Her Unexpected Billionaire    Arly

Arlo sat still in his office, his breathing heavy and his hands slowly curling into tight fists. He was rattled. He hated it, but he couldn't lie to himself. The word Bubba echoed in his head, making his chest tighten with an old, ugly anger. It shouldn't have affected him that much. She was nothing. Yet, she had still managed to find a nerve and pull a raw reaction out of him. He ran a hand through his hair, his jaw clenching as he tried to force the anger back down.“Bubba? Ridiculous.”His phone buzzed on the table, breaking the silence.Nora: Let me know if you're too busy with meetings! I can just order a Lyft back home.Arlo stared at the text, his expression softening instantly. He typed a quick reply, grabbed his coat, and walked straight out of the office.Ten minutes later, Arlo’s sedan pulled up to the curb outside Celeste’s brownstone. He walked up the steps, and Celeste met him at the door, holding a warm cup of tea.“You look stressed,” Celeste noted quietly, leaning aga

  • Nora and Her Unexpected Billionaire    Meetings

Several weeks had passed since the graduation celebration. In that time, Nora had become a regular part of Arlo's nuclear family. She had spent afternoons with his mother, gone shopping with her, and even ended up with a pair of matching shoes neither of them had actually needed. She had also visited Celeste severally and spent time with her new baby. Even the family gatherings that once would have made her feel like an outsider had started to feel natural. On a Tuesday afternoon, Arlo was at work. It had been a particularly busy day at Reeves Corp. The company had recently announced plans to fully integrate artificial intelligence into its architecture and real estate operations, and the announcement had attracted considerable interest from technology companies and investors eager to pitch their systems. Arlo had five presentations scheduled for the day. Four had already come and gone. The fifth was scheduled for late afternoon. Arlo sat at the head of the conference table,

  • Nora and Her Unexpected Billionaire    To Nora Ellison

Louise stood frozen, the clean shirt trembling slightly in her fingers. Her eyes darted over Nora’s upper body under the bright bathroom lights, completely horrified. “Nora...” Louise whispered, her voice shaking as she reached out a hand. “My God... what happened to you?” Nora raised a brow, genuinely unsure which part Louise was talking about. “What do you mean?” “You're covered in bruises,” Louise said, her eyes wide with worry. “And I see a scar running down your back. Not to mention the plaster peeling off your hands.” Nora let out a small breath. “Oh. Uh, the scar is from an accident I had as a kid. Nothing recent.” Louise nodded slowly, but her gaze didn't shift. She clearly needed more answers. “The plasters are from a cut I got yesterday,” Nora added quietly, looking down at her hands. “It's really nothing serious.” Then, silence stretched between them. The elephant in the room was staring right back at them. The purple marks were impossible to hide. Nora sucked in
