Chapter 2

Author: Wulan
I looked down again and noticed that Abigail had already pocketed her phone and was walking away with Ethan. They walked hand-in-hand with interlocked fingers, the rings on their fingers looking unexpectedly well-suited and eye-catching.

I then looked at my phone and accepted the two friend requests on my social media. Their profile pictures matched perfectly with the one Abigail had recently switched to; before that, her profile picture had always been a photo of me.

Those brash young men weren't polite at all. "You've already divorced Abigail, so you need to pack up, clean the place, and be out by the end of the day."

They had no idea that, because she felt guilty, Abigail had allocated 80% of the assets to me in the divorce agreement—including the villa we were living in.

I casually highlighted the clause in the agreement and sent it to them, asking, "You should have seen the divorce agreement, right?"

There was no reply from them after that.

I didn't have much to take with me, so one suitcase was enough to pack nearly everything.

I had just gone downstairs when I noticed Abigail curled up on the couch, though I didn't know when she had returned. I walked straight over to pour a glass of water, grabbed her stomach medication, and walked over to her.

Abigail suddenly lunged up and slapped me hard across the face. "You've gone too far, Christian! Who said you could forward our divorce agreement to them? I've explained this to you countless times—they're just temporary entertainment! They won't be able to threaten your position in my heart!

"I'll obviously return to our marriage once I've had my fun. What exactly are you throwing a tantrum over? You ought to know that people in our social circle all have a few male companions on the side—even your mother…"

I glared fixedly at her as my eyes turned bloodshot.

Abigail's voice softened as she stepped forward to hold me close, saying, "I've only ever committed to you ever since we got married, Christian. How can you doubt my love for you?

"You should be obedient for now. You can rest assured that after this time, I'll spend the rest of my life staying faithful to you and only you, Christian."

I suddenly recalled how years ago Abigail, the notoriously flirtatious heiress of Bellvoria, had spent three whole years pursuing me. She told me that I'd be the only one for her in this life, and she promised to protect my family and me with her very life.

I believed her back then, but hearing it now did absolutely nothing to me. I couldn't help but wonder when all that trust had eroded into nothing.

It started when Ethan and Owen went missing for the first time. Abigail actually logged into my account in the company group chat to make a public declaration of love to coax them to return, making me the butt of the joke among everyone we knew.

I was cornered by reporters the following day, left completely helpless and alone under the flashing cameras.

It happened again during our anniversary when she abandoned me to go on a risky, high-altitude stunt for her lovers, leaving me completely on my own to face her family's accusations that I didn't care about my wife's safety.

It was the 101 calls for help that she hung up on while she was out having fun at the amusement park with Ethan and Owen.

Just because I shared the same blood type as Ethan and Owen, Abigail had forced me to donate blood against my will, which triggered severe anemia and ruined our chances of trying for a pregnancy—only for her to turn around and blame me for being incompetent.

It happened the day before she handed me the divorce agreement. She had pulled all the medical experts away for Ethan and Owen, leaving no one to care for Dad. He was all the family I had, and he died because there was no one there to save him.

I was trembling all over, the water still drenching my clothes, while Abigail was still embracing me, my senses filled with a perfume she had never previously used.

I turned my head away and caught sight of a string of numbers tattooed near her collarbone—it was the number for Ethan and Owen's birthday, which happened to be the day Dad died.

I recalled Dad's final words on his deathbed and quietly backed out of her embrace.

Abigail simply slipped a check for 12 million dollars into my hand and said, "Ethan and Owen had taken a liking to this villa, so you should move out for the time being, Christian."

"Alright," I murmured as I took the check from her. I then handed her the stomach medication.

Abigail's expression warmed up as she reached out to take my hand. "C-Christian—"

Just then, a series of sharp, agonizing yelps echoed from outside—it was my dog, Sparky.

I rushed out in a frantic blur and saw Ethan and Owen repeatedly kicking Sparky, who was lying helplessly on the ground, barely clinging to life.

I shoved the two of them away with all my might, my tears completely spilling over. "Sparky! Sparky!"

Sparky was on the verge of death, yet he still made an effort to wag his tail when he saw me.

Ethan and Owen just stood there watching indifferently. "It turns out it's your dog, huh? We figured it was just a stray that snuck into our place. Why haven't you packed up yet? Didn't Abigail tell you?"

I rose to my feet and slapped Ethan hard across the face, but in the next instant, a slap came down on my face.

It was then that Raven suddenly retched. I stared at her in a daze, then immediately jumped to my feet in excitement. "Are you pregnant, Raven?"Raven shook her head and replied, "I'm not sure since my period has always been irregular."I immediately picked Raven up in my arms and said, "We're going to the hospital.""Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller. Your family is about to welcome a new addition."I was so overjoyed that I swept Raven up and spun her around before catching myself and gently setting her back down.Raven looked at me affectionately and kissed my hand, saying, "I'm so happy, Christian."Just then, Abigail appeared behind us out of nowhere, looking at me completely despondent. "Christian..."It was then that a nurse rushed over and grabbed her arm, asking, "What are you doing here, Ms. Southall? You need to sign the paperwork since the patient requires surgery!"Abigail was then dragged away by the nurse. It was much later when I found out that Abigail had g

In the end, Mr. and Mrs. Southall eventually retreated in disgrace.I didn't stop there, though. I took advantage of the freefall in Southall Group's stock and kept buying up their shares, and as a result, when Abigail presided over the shareholders' meeting, the person sitting directly across from her was me.Abigail stared at me in a daze, utterly lost for words. Ethan and Owen sat to her left and right, glaring at me with pure hatred.I glanced at Abigail's slightly swollen belly and sneered, all while Abigail just stared back at me, remaining silent for a long time.I reminded her coldly, "Please present Southall Group's current cash flow statement, Ms. Southall."Abigail pursed her lips tightly, and under the impatient, scrutinizing gazes of the other shareholders, she forced herself to look away. She caught up to me and stopped me once the shareholders' meeting wrapped up. "Can I treat you to dinner tonight, Christian?"She was afraid that I would turn her down, so she adde

I suddenly felt my heart, which had lain dormant for so long, spring back to life. I reached for Raven's hand and held it gently, saying, "Thank you, Raven. Thank you for standing by me when my life was at its lowest."Raven nestled into my embrace and said, "I made you a promise a long time ago—that I would come back for you. I'm sorry for coming too late and letting you go through all that pain, Christian."I never expected Abigail to actually follow us on our honeymoon. She would wait along the path back to my hotel every single day, holding a bouquet of flowers with the stamens carefully snipped off and carrying an exquisite gift.Abigail's eyes would always well with tears the moment she saw me. "I've realized my mistake now, Christian, so please come back to me. I've missed you so much while you've been away. "I swear I'll never do anything to hurt you like that again. I've already kicked Ethan and Owen out, so please come back to my side. I can't live without you, Christian

I kept my feelings for Abigail hidden for a long time, not daring to return her affection. She spent three years pursuing me before I finally gave in. She spun around me in pure excitement the moment I agreed, overcome with a childlike joy.It was then that the makeup artist knocked on the door and said, "You may change into your attire now, Mr. Fuller."I had just put on my suit when a butterfly settled on my shoulder. I choked up instantly, my eyes blurring with tears. "Is that you, Dad?"Raven appeared behind me without my noticing, gently taking my hand. "I'm sure it's your father, coming specifically to offer us his blessing."She then spoke earnestly to the butterfly, saying, "You can rest assured that I'll take good care of Christian, Dad."She had just finished saying that when the butterfly circled around us several times before flying out the window.I watched through blurry, tearful eyes as it disappeared into the distance before Raven patted my shoulder comfortingly a

Abigail stated flatly, "You've gotten exactly what you wanted, so get lost now. You'd better not show your faces in front of me again; I don't want Christian getting upset."Ethan abruptly rose to his feet, staring at Abigail in disbelief. "You said you loved us, Abigail! You already divorced Christian, didn't you? How can you kick us out now? Did Christian say something to you? Did he threaten you, Abigail?"In the very next moment, Ethan's face stung with searing pain.Abigail deliberately rubbed her wrist, her gaze utterly cold as she snarled, "I told you to get lost! Is that too hard for you to grasp? You're nothing but cheap amusement I ran after when I had nothing better to do. Did you actually mistake yourselves for some scions in high society?"She then signaled to the bodyguards behind her, who immediately stepped forward, grabbed Ethan and Owen, and threw them out the door.Ethan and Owen banged on the door like madmen. "Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about us

Raven couldn't help but laugh and squeezed my hand. "You're still just as impatient as you were when we were kids. We'll get married as soon as you're healed up. Mom and Dad have already taken care of the wedding plans, so don't you worry about a thing, Christian."I ended up spending three full months healing under Raven's strict supervision before she finally let me be discharged from the hospital. I had been meticulously looked after and cared for, but the burns on my body inevitably left permanent scars.Raven saw me spacing out as I looked at the scars and reassured me gently. "You have nothing to be worried about. I've found the leading expert in scar removal for you. If we take the recovery step by step, there won't be any scars left later on.""I want to keep them," I said, shaking my head. I needed the scars to remind me of the pain Abigail, Ethan, and Owen inflicted on me. I then looked up at Raven and asked, "Do you find them ugly, Raven?"Raven leaned over to place a ge
