Chapter 2

Author: Cocojam
I was calmer this time.

“Yeah, I just found out.”

“You saw his post? We were all freaking out! He never posts, and now suddenly there’s a whole album! We all thought you were the future Luna! But…”

I didn’t want to hear it. I cut her off.

“Want to hear something even crazier?”

Maya was all ears. “What?”

My eyes softened. “I’m pregnant. You’re going to be a godmother.”

“WHAT?!”

“I’m not kidding. Twelve weeks along.”

I sent her the pregnancy report. She sounded like she was about to cry.

“I thought you were stuck on Declan for life! I was just about to tell you to give up on him, but you’re one step ahead, with a pup on the way! This is amazing!”

“Quick, tell me! Who’s the dad?”

I was coy. “In a few days. He’s busy right now. When he comes to get me, you’ll be the first to meet him.”

She agreed instantly. We chatted about baby stuff, and then hung up.

I had just sat down at my desk when Maya posted.

[Thank the Moon Goddess. Thank my girl Maeve. I’m a godmother!]

I was about to tell her to be discreet.

A second later, a comment appeared from the long-silent Declan.

[? You’re in on this act too?]

Maya clapped back instantly: [Jealous much? Are you blind? Read the clinic's official stamp!]

A bit of the anger I’d been holding in finally eased. Thanks, Maya.

I hummed a little tune and worked all afternoon.

Later, I took a picture of the flowers he sent me, the ones meant to calm my pregnancy hormones. I posted it.

[It’s nice to be cared for.]

Declan, breaking his own rule, replied:

[Does deluding yourself actually help? Don’t go spreading rumors that I sent you those.]

In his eyes, I was worthless.

I didn’t reply.

After work, I was waiting for my ride when a familiar car pulled up.

Declan, looking annoyed, rolled down the window. “Get in.”

I didn’t move. “I already called a car.”

“This isn’t a discussion. Get in.”

I sighed. I texted my guy and told him not to send the bodyguard.

I instinctively walked to the passenger side. He shot me a cold look.

I obediently got in the back.

Declan drove fast. Too fast. The wind felt like knives on my face.

At a red light, he reached for a cigarette.

Then his eyes flickered to my flat stomach. He crushed the cigarette in his hand.

“You can’t keep this pup. I can compensate you for that night. But my pack will not have a bastard child in its ranks.”

My hand went to my stomach. My heart clenched.

“You say that like I forced you. I’ll say it again. I don’t need you to take responsibility. The child isn’t yours.”

Declan cursed under his breath and slammed on the horn.

“You’re still pretending, even now? I don’t see what’s so special about you that another male would even look your way.”

He watched me in the rearview mirror, his eyes filled with scorn.

My own pale face reflected in the window. I couldn’t argue with him.

Since we were kids, Declan had been the golden boy of our pack. Tall, handsome, a powerful fighter, good at everything.

Later, we went to the Shifter Academy together. She-wolves lined up for miles just to get his attention.

Some of them even tried to get close to me, knowing we were from the same pack.

I was plain. They knew I wasn't a threat.

The first time I passed a love letter to him for one of them, Declan was shocked.

“Hey, why are you giving me a love letter? I don’t like you. Stop it.”

I told him the truth.

“I didn’t write it. Someone asked me to give it to you.”

“Oh, good.” He breathed a sigh of relief. “Just so we’re clear, don’t get any ideas about me. It’s never going to happen between us.”

The grand Mating gala finally ended. The guests left. The territory grew quiet. But a knot of tension remained in my chest, a heavy stone I couldn’t dislodge.Wyatt led me into the master suite, the floor covered in rose petals. He didn't rush to embrace me. He gently had me sit on the edge of the bed. Then he knelt before me, his large hands enveloping mine. His deep eyes saw right through me.“I know what you’re worried about, my Luna,” Wyatt’s voice was a low rumble. He could already sense it. The faint, lingering, sour scent of Declan, hovering just outside. He released his Alpha pheromones. A gentle, calming wave that soothed my agitated inner wolf.“Go,” Wyatt said, tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear. “Go and end it. Whatever happens, I’ll be right here, protecting you.”His complete trust gave me courage.I looked up at him, my heart full, and nodded. I stood and walked out the door. The late autumn air was sharp and cold.Outside the heavy iron gates of the territory,

A week flew by.Wyatt, not wanting me to stress while pregnant, had changed the complicated Mating Ceremony into a lavish, luxurious evening gala.I sat at the vanity, the stylist carefully adjusting my veil.My phone alarm went off. The ceremony was about to begin.I picked it up, and the screen exploded with notifications. They were all from Declan.Maeve, you can’t mate him!I was wrong. I regret everything. Please come back. You can only be mine! I’m coming for you now!The screen was filled with his frantic, insane messages.I could almost smell his obsessive, out-of-control scent through the phone. My heart seized. My fingers went cold.I knew Declan. When he wanted something, he would rather destroy it than let anyone else have it.I was terrified this madman would show up and ruin the one good thing in my life. The stylist told me it was time.I took a deep breath, gathered my dress, and walked out onto the red carpet.A black stretch limousine was waiting.Wyatt, in a stunning

The car had barely stopped before a team of burly Wolf Enforcers started hauling boxes upstairs.Rare medicinal herbs, priceless jewels, custom baby supplies infused with a top-tier Alpha's calming scent—they filled the entire hallway.Wyatt, in his custom-tailored suit, stood at my door, taking deep breaths. His long fingers nervously fumbled with his tie. A sheen of sweat was on his brow."Maeve, quick, is my tie straight? Do I look respectable enough?"It was the eighth time he'd asked me that.I laughed, straightened his collar, and patted his chest reassuringly.Who would have thought this legendary Alpha, the founder of a fearsome new Pack, would be as nervous as a teenager on a first date. The door opened. My mother stared at the extravagant scene in front of her.Wyatt immediately straightened his back, all traces of his usual dominant aura gone.He stammered, "G-Good evening, Ma'am. I'm... I'm Wyatt. I apologize for the intrusion."Then, he did something that shocked everyone.

Just as his power was about to hit me, Wyatt stood. He didn't flinch. He unleashed his own aura—more terrifying, more dominant—and stepped in front of me, a protective shield. A low, warning Growl rumbled in his chest. The two Alpha auras clashed violently in the air.Maya, struggling under the pressure, finally snapped.“Declan, are you sick in the head?! You have your prize right there, but you’re still obsessed with what you can’t have! All for your pathetic pride, you stand here and slander her!”Her words hit their mark. A dark flush crept up Declan’s neck.Victoria’s face was beyond pale. It was mortified. She had come to this party expecting to be celebrated. Instead, she was dragged into a humiliating, public Mate-challenging.Her pure-blood pride was in tatters.I sighed, looking at the pathetic drama. It was time to end this.I stepped out from behind Wyatt’s solid frame. I looked Declan dead in the eyes.“Declan, you think this is all some game to get your attention. So let

His deep, magnetic voice filled the hall.Wyatt, dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, walked to my side. His warm, large hand rested securely on my waist.A crushing, dominant Alpha scent swept through the room.Silence. Every eye was locked on this powerful, handsome man.I smiled and pulled out the chair next to me for him.“Maya, let me introduce you properly.” I looked at my best friend’s stunned face. “This is my Fated Mate, and the father of my baby. Wyatt.”Maya gasped, pointing a shaky finger.“Wyatt? The Runt who couldn’t even manage a full Shift? How did he become… this?”I couldn’t help but smile. I told her everything.“After he left the academy, he went to the Rogue Territories to survive. He came back six months ago. He’s not just stronger now. He’s built his own Pack.”I looked around at my stunned former classmates. I raised my voice, dropping the real bomb.“Wyatt is the Alpha of that new, powerful pack everyone’s been whispering about.”Ignoring the gasps, I turned m

The man's face darkened.“You’re in your first trimester. I won’t argue with you. The comfort items and baby supplies you’ll need for the pregnancy… I’ve already ordered them, based on online guides. Just take care of yourself.”I looked at the pile of supplies by the bed.Declan still misunderstood. This was a good time to clear things up. Everyone was here. It would also stop a certain someone from getting jealous. Before I could speak, a slender, beautiful figure walked in.Declan practically shoved me aside to stand and greet her.“What are you doing here? I told you I was just visiting a friend.”I winced in pain and looked up. A gorgeous face met my eyes.Victoria smiled brightly. As elegant as she was on the academy training grounds. She nodded at me.“I heard it was a friend of many years. We saw each other at the academy, didn't we? I thought I should come and say hello.”I smiled back. I gestured for her to sit.She noticed the baby supplies and feigned surprise.“Oh, my. I f
