"Cole I can explain," I said when he stopped in front of me.
"Go ahead." He said with one eyebrow raised at me.
"He forced me to." I blurted out and everyone seemed taken aback by my words. Cole angrily looked between me and Rook.
"That's the best you could come up with?" He asked me and I ran a hand through my hair.
"I'm not lying. Ask him." I said confidently and everyone looked over at Rook.
"She's lying man. She kissed me first and then she asked me to be her date tonight." Rook said and I looked at him in disbelief.
"What the fuck, Liv?" Cole asked me and my heart started pounding faster in my chest.
"Are you seriously gonna believe this cheating liar over me?" I asked him in disbelief and he looked at me with narrowed eyes.
He turned around and punched Rook square on the jaw and the football team made a circle around them while cheering them on.
"Cole stop it!" I yelled when he threw another punch at Rook. "Stop!" I yelled again. Cole pulled back from Rook when he finally heard my scream. He stood up and came to stand in front of me.
I nervously gulped because he towered over me and he seemed really angry.
"Stay away from him." He said in a warning tone and I scoffed at his words.
"Fine, it's not like I want anything to do with him," I said in a never-mind tone.
"If you so much as just look at her again. I will fucking kill you." Cole told Rook before he walked away from us. And his "friends" followed him and I breathed out in relief.
"That was wild," Jade said in a startled tone and I once again ran my hand through my hair.
"By the way your brother is stupid hot." She said and I rolled my eyes at her. "Oh, I meant your stepbrother." She said before winking at me and I glared at her.
"Seriously?" I asked her and she shrugged at me.
"Technically you're not related." She said and I looked at her as if she was an alien.
"Do you ever listen to yourself when you talk?" I asked before walking ahead of her.
"Oh come on Liv. It was a joke." She said before placing her arm around my neck. I went into the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water while Jade fixed her lipstick.
"Tonight is gonna be epic." Jade sang out while I dried my face. I sighed tiredly before turning to face her.
"Should I even go anymore? I mean who throws a fundraising dance on the first day of school?" I asked and Jade smiled broadly.
"My dad." She said and I rolled my eyes.
"Right. I almost forgot your dad was the principal."
"You're coming tonight. You already promised me." She said and I glared at her.
"I didn't promise you anything," I said and she groaned.
"Stop being such a recluse." She said and I gasped in offense before placing a hand to my chest.
"Fine, I'll come," I said before we left the bathroom together. "I don't have anything to wear though," I said and Jade smiled broadly.
"You should know by now that I am always one step ahead of you." She said slowly. "Drive by my house when school is over and I'll give you a dress." She said and I pursed my lips together in a thin line.
"Ooh, I don't think Cole is gonna make that trip," I told her and she rolled her eyes at me.
"Yes, he will. He does anything you ask him to." She said before entering our AP bio class.
No, he doesn't.
"Hi, Liv and Jade." Miss Octavia said with a smile on her face.
"Hi, Miss." We greeted before taking our seats.
"At least one teacher who likes me," I told Jade who chuckled lightly.
"Holy shit, Liv." She gasped before pointing to the door.
"What?" I asked before I saw Cole walking in with the entire football team. Oh hell no.
I'm switching classes.
"What are they doing here?" I asked and Jade shrugged.
"This is a class that both juniors and seniors can attend." She stated the obvious.
"Yeah, but smart seniors. Not jocks." I said in disbelief.
"Rude much." She said under her breath.
Cole walked towards us and his gang followed suit. He took the seat next to me and the rest of them sat next to Jade and in front of us as well as behind us.
Definitely switching classes.
How am I even supposed to focus if Cole will be breathing down my neck every single day? God I hate my life.
"What's up Liv?" He asked and I pouted when I looked up at him.
"Nothing much, Cole," I said before crossing my arms over my chest and watching Miss write something on the blackboard.
"Isn't it great that we have a class together now?" Cole asked me and I silently grinded my teeth.
"No, it's not. You guys have to leave." I said pointedly but Cole just scoffed.
"I wouldn't be here in the first place if you didn't decide to disrespect your teacher and to make out with Rook." He said with a look of disgust on his face.
"That has nothing to do with you," I said tiredly.
"Tell that to my dad." He said before placing his focus back on Miss. "I need to keep an eye on you Liv." He said and I groaned. He's so annoying.
I looked over my shoulder and saw Jade smiling at something Tyler said. Awesome my best friend is flirting with my crush.
Tyler's eyes landed on me and I gulped nervously. He winked at me before placing his gaze on Miss.
I looked over at Cole who was already frowning at me for smiling at Tyler.
"Don't even think about it." He said and I slumped my shoulders.
When school was over I went to the principal's office.
"Hey Uncle T," I said and he smiled at me.
"How can I help you, Liv?" He asked before resting his gaze on me.
"I need to switch classes. My AP bio class to be precise." I said with a nervous smile on my face.
"Why?" He asked and I scratched my head.
"It's just not for me," I said and Uncle Tanner gave me a look of disbelief.
"I'm sorry, Liv. All of the other classes are full." He said apologetically. "Also that was a terrible reason."
"So I'm stuck in that class?" I asked and he nodded at me.
"Suck it up, kid." He said and I squeezed my eyes shut before getting up from my seat.
"Thanks for nothing Uncle T," I said before heading towards the door.
"Anytime Liv." He said with a smile on his face so I left his office. Why is everyone so annoying lately?
I went out into the parking lot and searched for Cole's car. He was talking to a bunch of cheerleaders.
"Can we go?" I asked Cole and he frowned at me before continuing his conversation with them. "Now, Cole," I said before climbing into the car.
I watched him telling the girls that he had to go before getting in on the driver's side.
"Can I drive?" I asked already knowing his answer.
"No." He said pointedly.
"Why not?" I whined.
"Because you almost killed us last time." He said in a 'duh' tone.
"But I didn't." I retorted.
"Not happening." He said with a smirk on his face. He turned the key in the ignition and I sat back in my seat with crossed arms.
"Can we stop by Jade's house?" I asked and Cole looked at me as if I asked the dumbest question.
"No." He said blankly.
"Please," I begged and he clenched his jaw before he made a right turn. I smiled happily before turning the radio on.
"You're like the best brother, I guess," I said awkwardly not knowing what to call him.
"I'm not your brother." He said pointedly and I looked at him with a look of disbelief on my face. Fine, he's not my brother.
"Dick," I said before singing along to the songs playing on the radio.
Five Years Later...Years had passed since those chaotic days, and life had finally settled into something resembling peace. Standing under the warm sun in my mom’s garden, surrounded by laughter and the buzz of family catching up, I felt a quiet kind of contentment I never thought I’d deserve. The years had been kind. I finally found my footing, throwing myself into writing, something that had always made me feel alive. What started as a simple hobby turned into something more. Now, my books are being sold in bookstores all across the country, and people I didn’t know appreciated them in ways I could never have imagined. Healing wasn’t a straight path, but it led me here to a version of myself I was proud of. I wasn’t the only one who had found their place in the world. Jade had started her own fashion line and was already making waves in the industry. Paige had opened a wellness retreat in Colorado and was thriving. Rook had gone into music production and was working with some of
After doing an obstacle course where mud and water was the core elements of the exercise we had to run ten laps around the training field.I don't even want to be here anymore so I don't know why I'm even trying so hard. Especially not after what Griff told me last nightAfter training in the sun for two more hours we were finally done. I went back to the barracks and before I turned the corner that led to my room I heard a familiar laugh.Cole's laugh.I sucked in a deep breath before turning the corner. I was shocked to see him laughing with a girl. His girlfriend, I assume. They spotted me before I could turn back around."Liv," Cole blankly uttered, his smile dropping from his face. "Come here." He uttered before pulling me into a tight hug."Cole, who's this?" The girl he was with as
I quietly sat in the mess hall. I haven't made a single friend, so here I am eating breakfast all by my lonesome. What's even worse is that I haven't seen Griff or Cole all morning."Fresh meat," I heard someone uttering from behind me. I slowly turned around and found a tall man hovering over me. He had a buzz cut, hazel brown eyes, brown skin and a smile that met his eyes on his face.He sat down next to me, our face only mere inches apart from each other and my eyes widened at his closeness."I'm Ash," he smiled at me before holding his hand out to me. He smells like heaven. I hesitantly shook his hands before moving back from him a bit."I'm Olivia but most people call me Liv." I told him."Olivia, that's a beautiful name." He uttered before taking a sip of his coffee. "First day?" He asked and I nodded. "Don't be nervous. If you are, Kenicky will noti
One Year Later...I graduated today, everything went well. The dance squad made it to regionals this year and won, but we lost at nationals. It was still good memories though. I threw my cap in the air before leaving the bleachers. Everyone has gone home by now. Maybe it was stupid of me to hope but I thought Cole would show up to support me. I heard he joined the army but my Cole would've shown up no matter what. Even if it meant showing up late, he still would've been here. But I guess he regrets falling in love with me now. I left the football field and made my way to the parking lot. I jumped into my car and drove home in silence, the radio was barely audible as it was playing in the background. I parked my car in my dad's driveway. I went inside and found him, my mom, and Ian all waiting for me in the kitchen.I greeted them before sitting down by the kitchen island. "Are you ready to go tomorrow?" Ian asked me and I nodded at him. "I am." I pointedly stated."Liv, you don'
A/N: Just a little heads up: there are going to be a few time skips to ensure the smoothness of the story. One Month Later... Cole I quietly sat at the edge of the road. I looked down at the water beneath my feet. I haven’t been here in so long. Grate's Bridge. This is where Liv, Rook, and I spent most of our nights before summer break. Back when his mom was still alive. Unfortunately, the cancer got the best of her, and now she’s just gone. I know what it feels like- to lose your mom. It’s the kind of pain you never forget. Not that I want to forget it; pain is the only thing I have left of my mom. That’s why I never talk about her. Colleen Cyprus. I think of her most of the time. She was beautiful. Always so calm and peaceful. She was gentle in everything she did. She never did anything wrong or bad. She was a saint. When I met Liv, she reminded me so much of my mom. She was so pure, maybe even too beautiful for me to touch. At least that’s what I thought.
I quietly watched Ian as his eyes scanned over the DNA results. I decided to come home and give them to him since he deserved to know. Ian slowly looked up at me before running a tired hand over his face. "Liv, what is this?" He asked me, his voice faint and confused. "Cole had a paternity test done. These are the results-""So what you're saying is that my son isn't my son anymore? How is that even possible? I raised him, and my ex-wife gave birth to him, Liv. I was with her the entire time-" he stopped, a deep frown settled on his forehead as he seemed deep in thought. "What?" I softly asked. "I need to be alone for some time, Liv. I just need to make sense of all of this and ask a few people some questions- thank you for showing me these." He uttered in a shaky voice."Of course, call me if you need anything." I softly told him. "And Ian- I'm sorry. For everything." I uttered before leaving his house.I climbed into my dad's car before driving to my mom's house. I haven't been
