"So he got into a fight with Tyler because of me?" I asked Mara our school's journalist and she just nodded her head at me.
"See you in trig, Liv." She said before she walked away from me.
What the fuck? So he beat up two guys for vibing with me. That could only mean one thing.
Cole has some serious anger issues.
I went into Mrs. Beck's class for my admin period. I took a seat at her desk because we're practically best friends.
"Hey, Livvy." She said before she sat down at her desk.
"Hey, Martha," I said tiredly and she frowned at me.
"I know that face. What's wrong?" She asked and I placed my head on the desk.
"Cole," I whined before sitting upright again.
"Your hot brother? How could something so right possibly be wrong?" She asked me and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Well he is annoying and he drives me up the walls," I said before groaning.
"Okay, Godzilla. I'm gonna send you to Mr. Pierce so that you can blow off some steam." She said with a smile on her face.
"That dude sucks," I said and she raised a single eyebrow at me.
"I'm not asking you I'm telling you, tell him that I want to discuss this term's lit test for the seniors with him." She said and I sighed before getting up from her desk.
I exited the classroom and headed to Mr Pierce's classroom. I knocked at his door and waited patiently.
"Come in." He said so I entered his classroom. "Miss Reed." He said and I already wanted to scratch his eyes out.
Oh shit, Cole is here, ugh I wish I could wipe that smug smile off his face.
I heard a few boys in the back calling Cole's name and I tried really hard not to glare at them. I gave Mr. Pierce the message that Martha gave me and he smiled at me.
"Mrs Beck is the hot one right?" He asked me and I blankly stared at him.
"Easy, Dick," Griff said and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Try not to tear the place down while I'm gone." He told his class before walking outside with me. "Nice brother you got there." He said and I rolled my eyes at him.
I went into my class and went to sit on Jade's lap. She placed a kiss on my cheek before continuing her conversation with some random girls in our class.
"Where did you disappear to last night?" She asked me and I shrugged not wanting to tell her what happened.
"Well, Cole got into a fight with Tyler because apparently, he broke their code," Jade said and I frowned deeply. "If it was up to me I would say that Cole is telling guys not to hang out with you." She said and I shook my head at her.
"He might be an asshole but he wouldn't do something like that," I said before standing up.
The bell rang just as I did so. Everyone exited the room and I headed straight for my locker. I took my trig notes out before closing my locker.
"Hey, Liv." I heard a soft voice. I turned around and found Paige standing behind me.
"Paige," I said with a slight frown on my face. Why is Crawford High's Barbie talking to me right now?
"Do you have a minute to spare me? Maybe at lunch?" She asked and I tried to find the right words.
"Is it important? Cause I have so much to do." I said and she smiled at me.
"Of course, but yes it's very important." She said and I tiredly looked at her.
"Sure. I'll see you at lunch." I said slowly.
"That is so super awesome. Hey, isn't that your brother heading our way?" She asked and I looked to my left.
"Yup, that's him," I said in a bored tone.
Cole came to stand in front of me before placing his gaze on Paige.
"Hey." He said and it seemed like she was ready to faint.
"Hi," Paige said and I looked at them in confusion. Should I leave?
"Would you go on the senior trip with me?" He asked her and my eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"I mean yeah. I would love to." She said in a flirtatious voice so I walked away from them before rolling my eyes.
I entered my trig class and prayed for it to end. This teacher has this sleepy voice, he just makes me want to fall asleep.
"Stop falling asleep," Jade said in a frustrated tone so I sat upright for another five minutes before the bell rang.
Thank God it's lunch.
I searched my backpack for my lunch but it wasn't there. I think I forgot it in the car.
I went into the cafeteria and spotted Cole and his friends sitting at a table in the center of the room.
I headed towards them and watched how they nudged at his arms. He finally saw me walking towards him and one of his eyebrows raised.
"Hey, I need to get something from the car. Can you give me the keys?" I asked him and he looked at me in suspicion.
"What do you need in the car?" He asked and I looked at him in disbelief. What if I needed a tampon or something?
"I forgot my lunch," I replied shortly and he clicked his tongue.
I briefly looked up and found his friends looking at me as if I was a piece of art. I looked back at Cole who ran his hand through his dark locks of hair.
"Take mine." He said and I looked at him in amusement.
"You're serious?" I asked him and he nodded at me. I grabbed his lunch before placing a kiss on his cheek and his body stiffened. I placed a loose strand of hair behind my ear while looking at him before pulling my bottom lip between my teeth.
"Thanks," I said with a smile on my face before leaving their table.
"That was hot." I heard one of his friends say.
"I got a boner just watching that," Chris said and I pulled my face in disgust before going over to the table Jade was sitting.
"How are you still alive after that? I thought the football team was gonna rip you apart." She said and I couldn't help but laugh.
"I think they all have major crushes on you but how could they possibly make a move on you with Cole always in the room?" She asked and I rolled my eyes at her.
"They looked like hungry predators." She added and I laughed loudly.
"Stop making stuff up," I said through my chuckles. "Look what I got." I sang and her eyes went down to Cole's lunch in my hand.
"Food." She said before she took the food out of the paper bag it came in. "It's tacos Liv. Could he get any more perfect?" She asked in fascination and I face palmed myself.
"Stop drooling over him," I said in annoyance and Jade just shrugged before she dug into her food.
I started eating a taco before I looked over at the football team's table and Cole was already staring at me. He averted his gaze from me and talked to Griff before smiling broadly.
"Can you believe my dad is organizing a trip for the seniors? Mr Pierce's class, the football team is in his class and we all know what that means." She said in frustration.
"It's an excuse for them to have sex with random girls away from home," I said and Jade nodded in agreement.
"That's exactly what I told my dad. Just not the football team." She said before taking another bite from her taco. "Why is Cole looking at us?" She asked me in confusion and my eyes widened.
"He's probably just upset about his food," I said before laughing uncomfortably.
"Probably because this is delicious." She said before looking up at me.
"Can we leave?" I asked her and she frowned at me before nodding slowly.
"Sure, let's go." She said before she grabbed the food from the table and I breathed out in relief before standing up from my seat. Everyone was staring at me and I hate it. Can't they look at something or someone else? Jade and I left the cafeteria and the room dawned in silence until we were outside of it.
This is all because of that stupid hit list.
Five Years Later...Years had passed since those chaotic days, and life had finally settled into something resembling peace. Standing under the warm sun in my mom’s garden, surrounded by laughter and the buzz of family catching up, I felt a quiet kind of contentment I never thought I’d deserve. The years had been kind. I finally found my footing, throwing myself into writing, something that had always made me feel alive. What started as a simple hobby turned into something more. Now, my books are being sold in bookstores all across the country, and people I didn’t know appreciated them in ways I could never have imagined. Healing wasn’t a straight path, but it led me here to a version of myself I was proud of. I wasn’t the only one who had found their place in the world. Jade had started her own fashion line and was already making waves in the industry. Paige had opened a wellness retreat in Colorado and was thriving. Rook had gone into music production and was working with some of
After doing an obstacle course where mud and water was the core elements of the exercise we had to run ten laps around the training field.I don't even want to be here anymore so I don't know why I'm even trying so hard. Especially not after what Griff told me last nightAfter training in the sun for two more hours we were finally done. I went back to the barracks and before I turned the corner that led to my room I heard a familiar laugh.Cole's laugh.I sucked in a deep breath before turning the corner. I was shocked to see him laughing with a girl. His girlfriend, I assume. They spotted me before I could turn back around."Liv," Cole blankly uttered, his smile dropping from his face. "Come here." He uttered before pulling me into a tight hug."Cole, who's this?" The girl he was with as
I quietly sat in the mess hall. I haven't made a single friend, so here I am eating breakfast all by my lonesome. What's even worse is that I haven't seen Griff or Cole all morning."Fresh meat," I heard someone uttering from behind me. I slowly turned around and found a tall man hovering over me. He had a buzz cut, hazel brown eyes, brown skin and a smile that met his eyes on his face.He sat down next to me, our face only mere inches apart from each other and my eyes widened at his closeness."I'm Ash," he smiled at me before holding his hand out to me. He smells like heaven. I hesitantly shook his hands before moving back from him a bit."I'm Olivia but most people call me Liv." I told him."Olivia, that's a beautiful name." He uttered before taking a sip of his coffee. "First day?" He asked and I nodded. "Don't be nervous. If you are, Kenicky will noti
One Year Later...I graduated today, everything went well. The dance squad made it to regionals this year and won, but we lost at nationals. It was still good memories though. I threw my cap in the air before leaving the bleachers. Everyone has gone home by now. Maybe it was stupid of me to hope but I thought Cole would show up to support me. I heard he joined the army but my Cole would've shown up no matter what. Even if it meant showing up late, he still would've been here. But I guess he regrets falling in love with me now. I left the football field and made my way to the parking lot. I jumped into my car and drove home in silence, the radio was barely audible as it was playing in the background. I parked my car in my dad's driveway. I went inside and found him, my mom, and Ian all waiting for me in the kitchen.I greeted them before sitting down by the kitchen island. "Are you ready to go tomorrow?" Ian asked me and I nodded at him. "I am." I pointedly stated."Liv, you don'
A/N: Just a little heads up: there are going to be a few time skips to ensure the smoothness of the story. One Month Later... Cole I quietly sat at the edge of the road. I looked down at the water beneath my feet. I haven’t been here in so long. Grate's Bridge. This is where Liv, Rook, and I spent most of our nights before summer break. Back when his mom was still alive. Unfortunately, the cancer got the best of her, and now she’s just gone. I know what it feels like- to lose your mom. It’s the kind of pain you never forget. Not that I want to forget it; pain is the only thing I have left of my mom. That’s why I never talk about her. Colleen Cyprus. I think of her most of the time. She was beautiful. Always so calm and peaceful. She was gentle in everything she did. She never did anything wrong or bad. She was a saint. When I met Liv, she reminded me so much of my mom. She was so pure, maybe even too beautiful for me to touch. At least that’s what I thought.
I quietly watched Ian as his eyes scanned over the DNA results. I decided to come home and give them to him since he deserved to know. Ian slowly looked up at me before running a tired hand over his face. "Liv, what is this?" He asked me, his voice faint and confused. "Cole had a paternity test done. These are the results-""So what you're saying is that my son isn't my son anymore? How is that even possible? I raised him, and my ex-wife gave birth to him, Liv. I was with her the entire time-" he stopped, a deep frown settled on his forehead as he seemed deep in thought. "What?" I softly asked. "I need to be alone for some time, Liv. I just need to make sense of all of this and ask a few people some questions- thank you for showing me these." He uttered in a shaky voice."Of course, call me if you need anything." I softly told him. "And Ian- I'm sorry. For everything." I uttered before leaving his house.I climbed into my dad's car before driving to my mom's house. I haven't been
