Vincent gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white. The moment Rafael mentioned Sarah kissing Damian, something inside him had snapped. Damian was supposed to protect her. That was the only reason Vincent had let him stay close.

And now?

Vincent’s car screeched to a stop in front of the prison. He stormed inside. The guards immediately stiffened at his presence. One of them rushed forward.

“Mr. Laurent—”

“Where is he?” Vincent’s voice was dangerously low.

The guard hesitated. “That’s why we were about to call you, sir. Damian… he’s gone.”

Vincent went still. “What?”

“We don’t know how,” another guard said quickly. “The cameras were cut. The cell was locked, but when we checked, he was gone.”

Vincent’s expression darkened. “Someone helped him escape?”

The guards exchanged glances. “It’s possible. It happened overnight.”

Vincent exhaled sharply, his patience fraying. “Find him.”

“We’re working on it, sir—”

Back at the Laurent estate, Vincent stood in his private gym, his fists crashing into the heavy punching bag with relentless force. Sweat clung to his skin. His breath came in ragged gasps, but he didn’t stop. Couldn’t stop.Kendra’s pale, lifeless face haunted him.Every punch was another scream buried in silence. Another demand for justice. Another stab of helpless rage. Then—Sarah’s face. Her terrified expression when the cuffs clicked around her wrists. Her sobs. Her desperation. Why did that image disturb him just as much?He wanted justice for Kendra. But his instincts whispered louder with each passing minute. If Sarah had done this—why hadn’t she run?Why had she stayed? Why had someone directed the police to her? What was the person doing there in the first place? Was it just a random witness—or a puppetmaster?Vincent exhaled, stepping away from the bag. His knuckles throbbed, but the ache did little to calm the storm inside. Then—soft, familiar arms slid around his waist.H

After a long wait, they finally let her in.The moment Keisha saw Sarah—pale, disheveled, and caged behind cold steel bars—something sharp twisted in her chest.“Oh my God, Sarah…” Keisha’s voice cracked as she rushed to the cell. “What happened?”Sarah, broken and barely hanging on, swallowed hard. “You believe me, don’t you?” Her voice was a whisper, fragile and fading. “I didn’t do this, Keisha. I didn’t shoot Kendra.”Keisha’s head bobbed fiercely as she gripped the bars. “Of course I believe you! But you need to tell me everything. Start to finish.”Sarah inhaled shakily and began recounting it all—how she’d gotten the mysterious message, gone to the riverbank, and found Kendra already on the ground, bleeding out.Keisha cursed under her breath, shaking her head. “Damn it, Sarah! If you’d just told me you were going… I would never have let you go alone. This wouldn’t have happened!”Sarah hadn’t even thought about that. If Keisha had been there, maybe things would be different.H

How could Sarah be at the scene? Why would Sarah kill Kendra? Was she even capable of murder? What could have possibly driven her to that?Despite himself, Vincent needed answers. It was the only way he could stay remotely sane. The tears didn’t come—only raw, shocking pain settled deep inside him.He didn’t wait for the nurse to return before he ripped the IV needle from his hand. The sting didn’t register. He got up, steadying himself with a sharp breath. He was leaving. At the holding cell, Sarah looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps. Her eyes were bloodshot, her cheeks streaked with dried tears. The moment she saw him, she shot forward, clutching the bars with trembling hands.“Vincent!” Her voice was hoarse, a gasp soaked in emotion. “I’m so sorry this had to happen. I swear to you—I didn’t do this. You know me… right? You know I couldn’t have—someone set me up!”She was holding onto hope by a thread. But Vincent’s eyes—the pain in them—were unlike anything she’d ever s

Kendra's body lay motionless on the pavement, the assaulter long gone. Blood gushed from the gunshot wound in her chest, pooling beneath her. Her final thought before everything went black was of her father. Not long after, another car pulled up, its headlights sweeping across the lonely riverbank. Sarah stepped out, completely unaware of the chaos that had just unfolded. Her steps were light, cautious, her eyes scanning the area for the person who had messaged her. She knew it was risky, showing up without knowing who had contacted her, but her curiosity outweighed her fear. She barely noticed the car that had sped past her moments ago. If only she had...As she moved closer to the river's edge, her eyes caught something-someone-lying ahead. Her heartbeat stuttered. Her instincts screamed at her to turn around and run, but curiosity pushed her forward. She pulled out her phone and switched on the flashlight. The beam landed on a figure crumpled on the ground. So much blood. She k

Kendra had always believed her father, Vincent, was strong. A man of steel. Untouchable by age or weakness. But the moment she saw the medical report on his desk, her world tilted. She clutched the papers, her hands trembling as her eyes scanned the words:Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer. The stark reality hit like a punch to the gut."No..." Her voice came out barely above a whisper.Tears welled in her eyes as she turned to Vincent, who sat calmly in his chair, watching her with an indifferent expression. But beneath that stillness, something twisted-buried emotions he refused to show."Dad..." she choked out, shaking her head. "You can't-" She gestured to the report in disbelief. "You can't be sick. This can't be real."Vincent exhaled slowly, folding his hands together. "Kendra, sit down."Her hand went over her red-dyed hair in frustration, dragging it messily down her face. But she remained standing, her body tight with disbelief."How long have you known?""A few months."Her brea

A pounding headache was the first thing Damian felt when he stirred. His limbs were heavy, his throat dry. His instincts screamed danger before his eyes even adjusted to the dim room, lit only by a single flickering light. He tried to move-but couldn't.His wrists and ankles were bound to a cold, metal chair. The steel dug into his skin with every breath. He inhaled sharply, forcing himself to stay calm.Then-footsteps. Rustling.A gloved hand reached out and yanked the black hood off his head.Blinding light stabbed into his eyes, making him squint. When his vision cleared, he saw three men standing in front of him. Tailored suits. Cold eyes. Power radiating from their silence.Damian let out a rough exhale. "Alright... which one of you bastards wants to tell me how I got here?"The tallest man-clearly the leader-smirked. "We helped you, Damian. You should be thanking us."Damian chuckled dryly. "Helped me? Looks more like a damn kidnapping.""You were rotting in that prison," anothe
