MIRIAM'S POV
Eli smiled the moment I asked him to come inside and I heard the low growl behind me. That was Jason getting pissed but somehow, he managed to restrain himself as I was right there in the scene. He certainly could not attempt to attack Eli.
"Long time no see Jason." Eli said as he started taking off his leather jacket.
Every inch of his clothes and hair was covered in mud. I could also tell from his eyes that he was somewhat exhausted. I still had no idea if I had done the right thing by letting him into our house but there was something I knew better, the truth as it should be would not be heard from one party alone. Both parties had a lot of talking to do. I loved my husband so much and he too had said that I was his mate and he knew the moment I saw him. I looked Eli over and then turned to Jason.
"Darling, just be calm please. It's just for tonight and there's a lot of things I don't understand." I said
"What you do not understand, Miriam , is that you let a liar into our home to insult me." Jason said with so much anger in his eyes. For the first time I happened to see this dark side of his being. I was shocked at what just happened and there I stood dumbfounded.
"We'll see who's the liar here Jason. Want me to beat the name into you?" Eli demanded as he made to walk to Jason
"Oh yeah, come on Omega." Jason said as he made to walk aggressively towards Eli. Then I stood in between them and screamed for decorum.
But wait, I suddenly looked at Eli as Jason had referred to him as an Omega and truly his eye color had changed. I felt really sad for him but at the same time suspicious. He had disappeared that night years ago. And had been declared wanted for murder. Now here he was after all these years in my home and calling my husband a murderer. I did not want to ask questions but my eyes fell again on his neck and that line was still there. It was a cut around his neck like something had been tied to his neck but then what could do such damage to a werewolf.
"Your neck Eli, why's it not healing?" I asked him.
He touched his neck and then shook his head as he answered me.
"It's pretty much healed now that it was before. It will be cleared up soon. Where's your bathroom?" he asked me
"Second door by the left." I said pointing to the narrow corridor.
He nodded
"No way would he enter my home any further. I demand he leaves immediately." Jason said
"Why Jason? Let him shower. Go Eli and behave Jason." I said pointing my finger at him.
Eli did a mock bow and started while Jason observed him with his eyes angrily. As soon as Eli was gone and we started hearing his splashes in the bathroom, I went straight to the kitchen area to fix him something. He did look famished after all and I wonder where he went to. Jason followed me as he tried to discourage me from being nice to Eli.
"Miriam, he has to go. I am only holding out because of you." he said
"Why? Can't you put up with him for just one night?" I asked him
"Can't you see what he's doing?" he asked me
"Tell me Jason, what is he doing?" I asked as I continued making the sandwiches. I knew Eli and his appetite whenever he got hungry.
"He's trying to tear us apart." Jason said
"Husband there's nothing to fear. Eli is just Eli now and nothing special anymore. You do not want me to go brooding without a proper closure. I have not seen him for fifteen years and now he's here, I need to make sure... Wait, are you scared of something?" I asked suddenly realizing it and turning to look at Jason
"Of course not but I just know he's trouble." he said
"Did you know him before?" I asked
"No. I told you I only ran in with him a couple of time in the past but we never talked to each other." he said
"Then there's nothing to fear." I said to him and patted his cheek
"Just promise me Miriam that no matter what lies he cooks up, you would be on my side." he said looking solemn
"I am always on your side." I said
"Kiss seal?" he asked
"Definitely." I said and kissed him.
I have never seen Jason this way before. He looked really unsettled but would not leave my side as I made the sandwiches. A couple of minutes later, Eli was out of the bathroom and had walked into the sitting room tying only a towel around his waist with water dripping from his hair and his wet hair for he sure was very hairy lying on his skin. You should see the beautiful hair on his chest and how it formed a beautiful pattern on his chest running down further. Save for the mature look he had added a little, Eli looked nearly small and still smoky hot as always. I could recall those days when everyone envied our relationship. Those were good old days really.
"Is that sandwich?" he asked as he came around to the kitchen to stand opposite me at the counter and then grabbed the first one that was ready. Typical Eli, he was already eating. "Gosh I'm famished. Haven't had anything since our last night together. Remember what we ate?"
He was asking me but I was confused even more. How does one go on without food for fifteen years unless this was a ghost. As he ate, color was returning to him and he was looking pretty much revived. I could tell something had happened and could also tell that things were just about to get even more ugly between us all but no matter how messy, I would be in charge long enough to get the truth I deserved to know. There would be no more hidden truths.
How could two werewolves claim to be mated to me? It was understandable when I thought Eli was dead but right now, I had a lot of uncovering to do.
Eli finished the sandwich he had and was making for another plate when Jason grabbed it.
"Mine." he howlers angrily
"Yours? We'll see how that turns out by the end of the night." Eli said.
Intuitively I knew they were no longer talking about sandwiches.
MIRIAM'S POV "Um alright guys, break it off." I said when they had suddenly started glaring at each other with their wolves eyes. The combo of red locking with blue was really something but I knew if not taken care of, that something was going to give rise into more. There was no telling with the both of them. Even as I called for them to stop glaring at each other, neither was paying me any atom of attention as they seemed so engrossed with hating each other. "Jason?" No response "Eli?" I called and he turned to look at me with a smile. The very same smile he had on his face back in the days. "I'm hungry Mimi." he said, calling me by my pet name I could not recall actually when last I had been referred to by it. It was shocking to me as I realized that save for a couple pet names, Jason still had no nickname for me. No, I was beginning to feel silly and seriously needed to snap out of it. I handed him the other sandwich which he ate rather quickly. Jason was pissed and left the
MIRIAM'S POV We eventually left the place after he had tried explaining things to me on how he was certain he was my mate. I know I come from a pretty weird family but could my life and family get any weirder? I actually agreed to follow him home and surprisingly he already knew the way to my house and I accredited that to the fact that he did say after all that he had been monitoring me longer than I could ever imagine. It had been a few weeks actually because when we got closer, he told me everything and for how long. Well he left me in front of my house but then came down as mother stood there in front of the porch. "You finally found your bride now haven't you?" she asked "Ma'am please let me take your permission to woo your daughter." he had said like the most gentleman in the world. I was totally floored especially when my mother agreed to his wooing me. Well I did give Eli a tough time but he made mine even more tougher at school as he started showing up around me and had s
MIRIAM'S POV I could say nothing to anyone for a long time and the only person there to comfort me was the handsome stranger that found me in the forest. You could imagine how shattered I was to keep living in the house which used to be lively with the sound of my family members. It was torment for me and at a point I became suicidal as I had begun blaming myself for all my woes. It was my fault they had died as had I not gotten entangled with someone like Eli, stuff like that would not have happened. I attempted suicide twice and was nearly successful with one had Jason not interrupted. He was there to wrap my slitted wrist with a cloth and took me to the hospital. When the doctors had spoken that it was too deep, he had snuck into my ward and poured some of his werewolf blood over my wrist. It did not heal all through but lessened the damage that I had done to myself. That actually was how I discovered that I was yet entangled with another werewolf. I wanted him gone but then he ne
"Who are you calling a murderer?" Jason demanded with so much anger in his eyes as he rose up abruptly.I was already prepared to step up."You buddy. How about you tell her about that night?" Eli asked him"What night? What is he talking about Jason?" I asked my husband"Nothing, he's full of lies Miriam. Let's send him away." Jason said"Or we could both tell our sides of the story." Eli said"There is no story to tell." Jason yelled"Oh but there is and I have a lot to say for that night fifteen years ago." Eli said"You're delusional." Jason said to him"Am I?" Eli demanded"Enough both of you. We are going to take these things out without waking the kids or alerting the neighbors who by the way if you have forgotten are all humans." I said, reminding them when I noticed the change in their eye colors. It took some time but then they both calmed down or rather pretended to calm down as they returned to their seats. I was glad I was beginning to get a hang of the situation but if I
"He's a liar, Miriam. This is why I insisted on letting him go." Jason suddenly screamed. It was clear something was amiss. In all my time with Jason, he has never done anything that would make me suspect him of anything like this as he happened to be the most calm person ever. At this point I had no idea what I should believe anymore but I needed to hear at least Jason's side of the story. That should be enough to make me decide but if I was being honest, right now I feared that a lot of things about me might be a lie. I calmed myself down and then turned to stare at Jason."J you said you found the necklace at the cliff right?" I asked him"You don't believe me?" he asked me suddenly squinting his eyes"Wait, the necklace of us both which he stole from my neck before wrapping that damned plant around my neck?" Eli suddenly asked me"Enough Eli!!! I'm talking to my husband right now." I screamed at Eli suddenly and honestly I felt bad about doing that. I knew I had hurt his feelings
JASON'S POVA banshee? This is impossible.I could not believe that this was the case right now. I had been living with my family's impending doom all these years and even dared to have children with her. I recalled how I had made certain to find out that she had no powers before pulling off the attack on their family. Yes, Eli just might have stated everything as truthfully as possible but seriously, what did I care about it?Years back, we had been working against the other pack of wolves and rounding them off as my family sought just one thing and that was dominance. I mean, we wolves were not wolves for nothing as it was clear what our supremacy was. To think that our kind hid in the shadows and in fear of the human race was simply something I could not understand. It did not make sense. How would one hold so much power and still be afraid to show it off.I had been tutored by my father himself and it had been his goal all these years but apparently, he did not have the strength
ELI'S POVI groaned heavily as I started healing. He actually had gotten me really good and it took a while because this was a fatal blow on my chest area and I could hear as muscles and sinews intertwined alongside cut arteries. Was this guy seriously trying to kill me in front of Miriam? Wait, Miriam. I had heard her scream earlier but I had an inkling she was safe. No way he would harm his own wife. Perhaps, he had just threatened her and made his way away from her and she might have fainted. But as the last part of my opened chest healed, I caught on with the scent of blood. That was not wolf's blood, it was human. Quickly I rose up and turned to find her lying on the stairs in the pool of her blood. No way in the world would I let her die on me. I rushed over and held her in my arms. She was bloodied as her side was bleeding badly obviously where he had gotten her and so was the back of her head that she had landed on the ground."Miriam.... Miriam!!! Don't do this to me. Miriam
MIRIAM'S POVI felt the cool air across my face and realized that I probably was in an open space as I simultaneously opened my eyes to gaze at the hay above me. It had to be hay, made into a rough covering over what seemed like a wooden shed. I realized I had been laying on a really big rock and got up immediately. Looking down, I lifted my camisole and discovered my stomach was wrapped with a bandage like material. Where was I and who had brought me here? I wondered as I looked around.I suddenly could hear someone approaching and quickly, I ducked as I hid behind the rock and listened. The person walked and stopped right in front of the shed as he suddenly dropped something. "Miriam?" He called out to me.It was Eli and I slowly made it out of my hiding spot."Where are we?" I asked him.He smiled as he rushed over to me and grabbed me in a tight embrace. I tried to stop him because of my large bandage but it was too late as he grabbed me tightly in an embrace. Surprisingly, I did
