SOFIA

I froze.

His words left me in shock. Did I hear right or I was only hallucinating?

I fiddled with my hands, gently raising my head to him. “I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right sir.”

He swallowed hard, his gaze fixed on me. “If you'll be coming with me to my pack, then I want us to get married.”

The words choked me.

“I'm sorry, but why do I have to get married to you?”

I was scared. Having just gotten out of an abusive marriage that lasted for six years, getting into another wasn't what I wanted now.

What if he wasn't any different from Mike? There was no prior news about him, so there's no way I could tell.

He smiled. Gosh!! That smile.

It.. it made my heart flutter. Oh, was flutter the right word? I wasn't sure, but then.

I remained quiet, my mind racing with thoughts.

“Why do you want to get married to me?” Finally, I asked.

He moved closer until only a few inches were between us. “I am not sure if this would sound nice to you, but I'd say it anyway. I need an heir to the throne.”

My jaws dropped. Yet again, I was to be a baby making factory? Never!! I wouldn't agree to that.

I couldn't. Six traumatizing years of my life, and then another?

“Hey!!” He called minutes later. I had been quiet the entire while. I jolted back to reality, a bit startled.

“I'm sorry. I was..”

“So what's your response? Would you marry me?”

I exhaled, my eyes flickering incessantly. “I'll need to think this through properly considering that I just got out of an abusive relationship.”

He grunted. “I understand. I'll give you some time.*

Silence returned again. More fierce and intense this time.

Finally, he broke it. “We should have something to eat. I guess you must be hungry already.”

I smiled, keeping quiet. My stomach rumbled, giving me away. My face flushed with embarrassment as his gaze rested on mine.

“It's nothing to be shy about. Let's get some breakfast.” He held my hand, carefully leading me to the dining hall.

My jaws dropped in adoration. It was the most stunning dining hall I had ever set my eyes on.

My gaze rested on him, questions racing through my mind. He smiled.

“You don't need to say anything. Let's just eat.”

I swallowed my words, quickly helping myself into the seat he had pulled out for me. He was warm and tender, melting my heart in mo small way.

“Thank you.”

“You don't have to thank me.”

I blushed. His words, carefully picked. The grace and eloquence with which he uttered those words. They were breathtaking.

“I'm not sure what you would love, so I asked the chef to make some variety.”

He snapped his fingers, and in a single trail walked half a dozen maids, each bearing a tray in each of their hands.

The aroma of the food serenaded the air. Again, my stomach rumbled. No doubt, the food must be delicious..

With the entire meal set before me, I couldn't help but marvel. “Are we perhaps expecting guests?”

His brows creased. “Guests? No we aren't. Why do you ask?”

“Nothing.. nothing really. I'm just surprised there's so much food.”

Gently, his hand reached across the table, gently resting on mine. “Like I said, I wasn't sure what you would like.”

I nodded, even though I didn't understand the need for it.

“It must have been real hell for you during these six years of being Mike's wife.”

My countenance turned sour. His words seemed to have stirred up the wound in me that was quickly healing.

“It really was hell.” Tears welled in my eyes.

“I do not pray for such a life even for my enemies.”

“Yes, I understand how you feel. Thank goodness it's all over now.”

“I'm really glad.”

He nodded. In his eyes, I could see he had things to say, but hesitated quite a bit.

“When would you give an answer to my proposal? I cannot afford to let you remain in this pack knowing Mike might try to harm you.”

It suddenly snapped within me. Why hadn't I thought about it all these while?

Fear gripped me, and my hands began to shake. There was no doubt Mike might try to harm me if I remained in his pack..

Soon, the thought gained ground in me until I couldn't get it out of my mind.

“Do you now see why I want you to come with me? Leaving you here all by yourself isn't safe.”

I nodded in agreement.

“So what's your say?”

“Fine.. I'll get married to you, but I have an announcement to make. I'm sure you might not find it cool, but I have to say it anyway.”

He adjusted himself on the chair, his eyes resting on me.

He was anxious, and uneasy.

“I'm pregnant.”

I went mute, my heart pounding against my chest. His eyes: they seemed to lose their colors.

“You are?” I nodded, slowly.

“Mike's child right?” Again, I nodded.

There was silence— thick and deafening. It felt so awkward and uncomfortable.

“That's not a problem. We can wait until you deliver, then you can conceive our child or..” He halted.

“Or?” I asked, curious. He looked really hesitant to speak further, like the words were heavy.

“Nevermind…” He waved me off.

“No!! Please tell me..”

He exhaled. “We.. we can abort the child in you and leave everything about your past life.”

I was flabbergasted. Those words of his made no sense. Infact, they did irritate me.

“Never!! I can never do that.” I shook my head vehemently.

No doubt, I hated Mike who was responsible for my pregnancy, but not the child in me.

“It's fine. I'm.. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you..” He reached for my hands, but I withdrew at once.

Without warning, he drew me into him until we were only a few inches apart. I could feel his breath all over me— Hot and intense.

“What do you think?” He rested his hand on my waist and slowly leaned in. A kiss rested on my lips.

It was soft and tender at first, and then… soft moans, gasps..

Oh, good lord.

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 108

SOFIA'S POV I wasn't sure what to make of Jackson. He was extremely kind and warm to me and I was starting to feel really comfortable around him.I wasn't sure I was making the right decision, though. I had grown extremely fond of my sister, Amy Stone and was the major reason I was reciprocating Jackson's warmness. There was nothing else I knew about him prior when I met him, except that he was an enemy of Dane.A knock rang suddenly on the door. I turned, wondering who it was. “Who's there? Come in!” The door turned and in walked Jackson, smiling. I kept still, wondering what he had come for.“Are you busy?” “No, I'm not. Is there something you would like me to do?”“I was wondering if we could have go out later tonight, with Amy. We can eat out instead of having dinner here in the house.”The idea wasn't entirely bad and it seemed pleasing to my ears. “Fine! I'll get ready,” I muttered, grinning.“Alright then. I'm heading out now, so I'll have one of the drivers bring you to whe

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 107

SOFIA'S POV Once I was back in my room, I sat quietly on the edge of the bed, staring at nothing in particular. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get rid of the memory of the kiss from Jackson. It wasn’t even on the lips—just a soft brush on my forehead. But the feeling of it lingered like a scent I couldn’t shake off.I kept replaying it again and again in my head. The way he leaned in, the warmth of his breath, the way his eyes softened before he did it… Why was it stuck in my mind like this?I groaned, burying my face in my hands. “Ugh, get out of my head already!” I muttered to myself. The more I tried to forget it, the more intense it became. Like it had unlocked something I didn’t want to face. Something I wasn’t ready to accept. It was frustrating. I paced the room for a while, hoping to distract myself. But his voice, his words, his gaze—everything was still so fresh.Eventually, I just slumped back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. Maybe… maybe I should sto

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 106

SOFIA'S POV The next morning, Amy and I decided to take a walk around the pack. The air was crisp and fresh, and the morning sun peeked gently through the trees. Birds chirped above us, and for the first time in days, the world felt somewhat normal—at least on the outside.Amy skipped beside me, holding my hand tightly. She was so full of life, pointing at everything she saw—flowers, butterflies, and even a tiny lizard crawling up a tree trunk.“Sofia! Look! That flower is purple, just like my favorite dress!” she giggled.I smiled faintly, brushing her hair behind her ear. “Yes, it’s beautiful, just like you.”She beamed at me, and for a brief moment, I allowed myself to enjoy the quiet. But then, footsteps crunched on the gravel behind us.“Can I join you?” a voice asked gently.I turned around to see Jackson standing there, his arms crossed casually, a soft look in his eyes. He wasn’t smirking or forcing anything—just looking at me calmly.I hesitated, my thoughts swirling. Par

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 105

SOFIA'S POV I felt like I was going crazy.A whole week. A full, dragging, miserable week—and still no sign of Sofia. Nothing. Not even a single whisper in the wind about her whereabouts.Every second without her felt like a blade dragging slowly across my skin.I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I couldn't breathe right. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face—her soft, warm smile, the fire in her eyes when she was angry, the way her voice used to calm the chaos in my mind.I wondered what they had done to her. Where was she? Was she locked up somewhere? Was she hurt?My chest tightened painfully, and I ran a hand down my face. “Could she even still be alive?” I thought aloud, my voice barely a whisper. But no. I couldn’t let my mind wander there.I immediately shook my head, pushing the dark thought out. No. Sofia’s strong. She has to be alive. She has to be.“Alpha,” Mark said gently from across the room, his voice almost hesitant. “We’ve searched every known rogue territory. N

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 104

SOFIA'S POV Pondering more on it, it began to make more sense to me.How Dane had suddenly approached me, out of nowhere, and then—without even properly courting me—offered to marry me right away.Back then, I had found it strange. His interest had been… intense. Too intense. But I was vulnerable at the time. I was running from Mike, from a past that nearly ruined me.So when Dane showed up, with his calm words, charming looks, and powerful aura… I thought I had found something safe. Something solid. I thought I was lucky.Stupid.I clenched my fists as the realization crawled through my chest like fire.Maybe it hadn’t been love at all. Maybe I had only been chosen. Selected like some object. A vessel.*The one who could break the curse.*“I was so foolish,” I muttered under my breath, my voice trembling. “How could I not see it?”From the other side of the room, Jackson was watching me in silence. He didn’t interrupt. He didn’t have to. My thoughts were already dragging me deeper i

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 103

SOFIA'S POV As if all that he had said wasn’t enough, Jackson returned minutes later, this time with a sleek black tablet in his hand. His expression was unreadable, but the way he walked in—slow, confident—made my skin crawl. There was a strange silence in the room, the kind that made my chest feel heavy.I sat upright on the edge of the couch, still shaken by everything I had heard earlier. My mind was a whirlwind of confusion, betrayal, and fear. And now he was back, again.I glared hard at him, my brows furrowed tightly. I could feel the anger boiling in my chest, sharp and restless. He had already turned my world upside down with his words—what more did he want from me now?Why had he come again? He walked past the edge of the couch and sat beside me slowly, too slowly, like he was giving me time to speak… but I didn’t. I pressed my lips together and turned my face slightly away from him. From the corner of my eye, I saw him lift the tablet.“Do you still have doubt about al
