TILDA

The next morning I was up before anyone else.

The quiet, gray dawn pressed down on the roof above us. My body ached, but I forced myself to move. We would leave today. I didn’t know where we’d go next, but we couldn’t stay here. Gideon had been kind beyond measure, and someday, I hoped to repay him.

Miranda stirred when the sun had already risen high. She blinked, rubbed her eyes, and came over to me, her voice still thick with sleep.

“You should sleep more, Tilda. You’ve barely rested since... all of this.”

“We should leave before Gideon comes,” my hands folding the clothes. “Once the kids wake up, we will be out of here.”

She slid the trampoline flap open slightly and peeked outside. “See? We can't go now. The day is already too bright. People will see us.”

I sighed. “I just didn’t want to wake the kids too early. We’ll find a way.”

“You didn’t eat much last night,” she said. “There is still some noodles left. I will heat them for you,” she offered.

“No, no, Miranda,” I stoppe

THIRD PERSONAlicia reclined in her plush white armchair, her silk robe loosely tied, one leg stretched over a soft stool as her maid, Cyndy, focused on shaping her toenails.Suddenly, the sharp ring of her phone echoed from the dining area a few feet away. She frowned and turned slightly. “Lucia!” she called, raising her voice just enough to pierce the mild tranquility. “You, come bring my phone.”“I can get it, ma’am,” Cyndy offered without lifting her head.“No,” Alicia shook her head. “Continue with the pedicure. I want this to come out just right.”She raised her voice again. “Lucia! Where are you now? Ugh.”The other maid came running in from the next room. “Yes, ma’am.”“Can’t you hear the phone ringing?” Alicia snapped, her irritation rising. “Bring it.”Lucia hurried to the dining table and retrieved the ringing phone. She returned and handed it to Alicia with a cautious smile. “It’s a call from Mr. Strafford,” she said softly.Alicia’s eyes lit up instantly. “Oh, daddy,” she

OSCAR GRAYStanding still, Gideon looked at Ghaza, then at me. “For real,” he mumbled under his breath, disbelief spreading across his face.I stepped in before things got worse. “You know what, Ghaza? It’s better we leave now. It’s already clear that coming here had been a complete waste of time.”“I will stop by soon,” Gideon said, extending a hand to me.I didn’t expect to meet him again in such an awkward setting. Gideon had once helped me when no one else would. We still had unfinished business. But just as I lifted my hand to return the gesture, Ghaza’s voice cut in, halting me mid-motion.“We’re here, aren’t we?” Ghaza said coldly. “What harm would it cause, since you have nothing to hide, Gideon?”“You see, Ghaza,” I said calmly, “Gideon here is an old friend. He definitely won’t be hiding something this important from me.”Ghaza smiled faintly. He stepped closer and laid a hand on Gideon’s shoulder. “Permit me to say, sir, that the eye does better what the mouth would overloo

KRISTIEThe moment I dropped the call, I heard James from behind.“So this is what you are up to, Kristie?” he fired.I spun around, heart jamming against my chest. “James,” I breathed. “Um… you’re here?”His brows furrowed as he advanced slowly, eyes piercing. Just how much had he heard?“I heard everything, Kristie. You better start talking. What is this about?” he growled, his voice low but lethal, barely holding back the rage simmering in his veins.“It’s… it’s not what you think,” I stammered, struggling to arrange my thoughts fast enough.“I knew it.” He let out a bitter laugh. “I knew you were never up to any good with that horrible Sheila Belmont. But I never imagined… Kristie, I didn’t think you were this—this vile.”“James—”“No, let me speak today.” His voice trembled slightly, not from fear, but something worse—disillusionment. “Do you even think of Shantel? You’ve got the house now, what else do you want? You keep using us like props in your play.”I snapped. “And how lon

OSCAR GRAY“There is an update, boss. I think we’ve found Tilda and the kids,” Steven announced the moment he stepped in.I sprang from my desk, already reaching for my suit jacket.“Have the directors handle the meeting,” I told Miss Chloe who had been waiting to accompany me to the meeting with the investors that should commence in fifteen minutes. She stood hesitantly, her voice low but insistent. “But sir... um, the meeting is crucial. I mean, hmm... your presence.”“Then have it postponed,” I cut in.I didn’t wait for a response. I was already out of the office. Steven followed.“Where did you find her, Steven?” I asked as the elevator doors closed behind us.“Really not the time to ask questions, boss. Ghaza is already waiting. I bet you’ll be as shocked as I was. This is going to be good.”I kept my eyes on the numbers climbing down, gripping the railing. The air in the elevator felt heavy. My chest tightened with every passing second.“I know this won’t take long, sir,” Steven

  • OUR MUMMY'S EX-HUSBAND WANTS TO CLAIM US NOW   CHAPTER 117 – I WAS HERE ONCE, BUT NOW...

TILDAJust as Miranda suggested, it wasn’t until evening before we quietly slipped out of the shade. The fewer eyes that saw us leave, the better.Still, I left a small note behind for Gideon, just a simple thank-you for all the help. The shelter hadn’t been much, but it had kept us safe for two nights. That meant more than words could say.Miranda left first with Dixon and Dylan. A few minutes later, I followed with Denzel and Diamond. We’d planned everything. She would get a taxi, and we’d meet at the junction just up ahead.By the time we arrived at the villa, night had already fallen.“You said Aunt Edna lives here, Mommy. Will she be happy to see us?” Diamond asked, clutching my hand.“Yes, she will, darling,” I said gently, smoothing her curls. But the truth was, I wasn’t sure. I only hoped her words from the last time I came here still held weight.“Please return soon, Miss Tilda. We missed you around.”I held onto that promise like a fragile thread of hope. We had nowhere else
