Chapter 74

Amara’s POV

The scream tore me out of sleep.

My heart slammed against my ribs as the remnants of my dreams scattered — my parents’ urging me to run, to escape — the same nightmare that haunted my first night in this house.

Only… this wasn’t my room.

This was his.

Alessandro’s scent lingered on the sheets. The events of last night washed through me like a wave — his hands gripping my waist, his mouth claiming mine, his fingers between my legs, the way I cling to him as if refusing to ever let go again.

And now, I truly believe… maybe I wouldn’t have to.

I slipped into his robe, tightening it around my body as hurried footsteps echoed in the hallway. Elena’s panicked pleas cut through the noise:

“Please — leave Signora’s things! She begged!”

My throat tightened.

What is happening?

I stepped out into chaos.

Servants rushed in and out of my room — clothes shoved into boxes, drawers emptied with careless hands. A large trunk lay open, stuffed with my dresses as thoug

Alessandro’s POV When I got back to Genoa, I didn’t announce myself. The house Matteo and I were staying in wasn’t large—just an ordinary place an errand boy could afford without raising suspicion. One living space. One narrow kitchen. No walls thick enough to hide anything. The kind of place where, the moment you stepped inside, you could see everything that mattered. And I did. Matteo was at the table. Not eating. Not drinking. Working. Several clear bags were laid out in neat rows, each tagged with a client’s name. Some were full. Others sat empty, waiting. Beside them was a larger bag—already opened—white powder glinting under the dull overhead light. Coke. My stomach tightened as I watched him scoop from the larger bag and pour into the smaller ones with practiced precision. Not rushed. Not sloppy. Careful. Calculated. He’d already filled a few before I came in; I could tell by the way the bags were sealed and stacked aside. The amounts going into the smaller bags were

Chapter 118Amara’s POVI had thought—naively—that when Alessandro came back, even if it was only for a short while, time would finally slow down for us. That we would steal hours from the world the way we used to steal glances. But that wasn’t the case. His visit felt like borrowed time, rushed and fragile, as if someone might snatch it away if we lingered too long. The urgency in his voice unsettled me. Every time he glanced at the clock or checked his phone, a chill slid down my spine. Still, he kept reassuring me—everything is going according to plan, he said. Genoa was under control. All he had to do was keep a low profile, blend in, and wait it out. He spoke with such certainty that I forced myself to believe him, even when my instincts whispered otherwise.I never got the chance to tell him.About the hospital.About the doctor’s words.About the fact that the baby had turned into babies. The truth sat heavy on my chest, but there was no space for it. Every moment felt counted,

Alessandro’s POV Ever since my arrival in Genoa, one would think Matteo and I lived inside a club. Night after night, the music never truly ended. Different locations, same dim lights, same pulse of sound vibrating through the walls, same scent of alcohol and expensive recklessness hanging in the air. If anyone had told me weeks ago that this would be my reality, I would have laughed and dismissed it as impossible. Yet here I was. What stood out the most was what didn’t happen. The incident I had witnessed on my first night—the underground casino, the men in black suits, Matteo disappearing and reappearing like nothing had happened—never repeated itself. Not even once. No strange interruptions. No sudden arrivals. No whispered conversations that ended too quickly. And Matteo never mentioned it. That alone told me everything I needed to know. He wasn’t stupid. He knew better than to bring it up, and I knew better than to ask. The moment I did, it would be obvious I was watchin

  • OWNED BY THE ENEMY: His Dark Claim   Chapter 116

Amara’s POVThe only thing I’ve been able to do since Alessandro left for Genoa is walk. From room to room. From window to window. Down the long corridors of a house that suddenly feels too large for just one heartbeat. My hands rest constantly on my stomach—big now, round and heavy with life—my quiet reassurance that at least one good thing is certain. My baby is healthy. And Alessandro… Alessandro is in Genoa, doing everything he can to secure our future, to make sure La Camorra never gets close enough to touch us again. That thought is the only thing that steadies me.Sometimes I pause by the tall windows, watching the gates as if he might drive in any second, even though I know better. Other times, I sit on the edge of the bed we shared and breathe through the loneliness, reminding myself that this separation has a purpose.Looking back at how everything started, I realize something that still shocks me.I did right by not telling Alessandro I was pregnant when he handed me that c

  • OWNED BY THE ENEMY: His Dark Claim   Chapter 115

Alessandro’s POV Even after seeing the club, I thought I had reached the end of it. I was wrong. This wasn’t about music, women, or even excess. The game board was already set. Matteo moved deeper into the underground, toward a section roped off from the rest. The air there felt heavier, quieter in a dangerous way. A single long table sat at the center, dark wood polished to a mirror shine. Cards. Chips stacked in neat, intimidating towers. Cash exchanged hands without counting. Men gathered around it—men who didn’t look like they worried about tomorrow. Their watches were discreet but expensive. Their suits weren’t loud, but they were tailored to perfection. These were men who had power, or at least proximity to it. The kind of people La Camorra watched closely. Matteo slipped into an empty seat like he belonged there. No hesitation. No invitation needed. The others acknowledged him with brief nods, nothing more. Respect without friendliness. Familiarity without warmth.

  • OWNED BY THE ENEMY: His Dark Claim   Chapter 114

Alessandro’s POV The drive from the estate to Genoa took close to five hours without a single stop. I barely noticed the distance. My mind stayed elsewhere—on Amara’s face when I kissed her goodbye, on the way her hands trembled even as she tried to be brave, on the promise I’d made and intended to keep no matter what this city threw at me. Damian had told me Matteo had been given a heads-up. He’ll find you, Damian had said confidently. Once you enter Genoa, he won't miss you. So I didn't go looking. I stopped at a club just outside the city limits—a place Damian had mentioned specifically. Low lights. Loud music. The kind of place where no one asks questions and everyone minds their business. Perfect. I ordered a beer and took a seat at the bar, letting the noise wash over me. I needed my head clear, but I also needed to blend in Genoa wasn’t my territory. Not yet. After the first beer, a man took the empty stool beside me. He didn’t look threatening.
