Aurora's POV

I settled into the room with my eyes scanning every inch of the room in search of something... Anything.

I moved toward the closet, hesitantly opening it. My breath hitched at the sight of the elegant dresses, designer pieces I had never worn in my life. Everything here was chosen for me, a silent reminder that I had no control.

Still, I had to play their game.

I selected a simple black dress, long-sleeved with a slit that tore through the thigh.

It was the most modest dress in this closet and I wasn’t about to give them the satisfaction of dressing me up like a doll.

After freshening up, I stood before the mirror, smoothing my hands over my stomach.

I swallowed my fear and stepped toward the door.

The moment I opened it, two guards stood waiting. Without a word, they flanked me on either side and led me downstairs.

As we approached the dining hall, I could hear the deep murmur of voices. My stomach twisted.
