Chapter 7 Not Available

That was a bit of an insult. He had time to meet Julia and accompany her when she wanted to try on wedding dresses, but he got impatient waiting for a divorce for an extra 20 minutes? Wasn't her willingness to get divorced as soon as possible a favor to them?

She took a deep breath and suddenly heard a knocking sound from the other end of the line. She changed her tone. "Zachary, did you even go to the clerk's office?"

Zachary coldly sneered. "Do you think everyone is as fickle as you?"

Joey was confident he hadn't gone. "Then take a picture of the clerk's office's entrance for me ..." Before she could finish her sentence, Zachary hung up the phone. Joey tossed her phone aside and cursed, "Ugh, what a jerk!"

Selena helped her get dressed and joined in the venting. "What's wrong with him again?"

Irritated, Joey replied, "Who knows? I was late, and he didn't even go to the clerk's office, yet he's throwing a tantrum."

He could do whatever he liked, but heaven forbid if someone else did the same! As she finished speaking, Selena received a message on her phone.

She picked it up and read it with a disdainful eye-roll before handing the phone to Joey. "Zachary has scheduled a meeting with you the day after tomorrow." Or more accurately, it was an appointment with Chloe.

"That scumbag can't spare 20 minutes, but he's got all the time in the world to make an appointment with Chloe," Joey muttered under her breath.

"I'm recently widowed! I'm not available!" Right now, divorce was the only thing on her mind. She needed it immediately.

Selena relayed her message to the assistant. "Zachary probably wants you to work on a dress for Julia. There's a private fashion event in Eastwell next month, and I heard she's on the guest list. It's an exclusive affair, and Zachary must have invested quite a bit to get her in."

Joey, now somewhat numb to the situation, let out a bitter smile. Not only did he spend big bucks to get her in, he was also going to get Chloe's dress to make her seem the part. He was really making a big investment.

Seeing that Joey appeared less affected, Selena couldn't help but voice her irritation, "Wait, you're just letting this temptress have her way with him?"

Joey remained emotionless as she replied, "If you have a plan to bankrupt Zachary, I won't mind joining in."

Cheating was a two-way street, and Joey didn't want to stoop to a level where she'd quarrel with the other woman who probably didn't even know who she was. To her, it was a matter of principle, and it was Zachary who had crossed the line.

Selena was about to continue when Joey shifted the topic. "You mentioned a big client last time, didn't you?"

Selena replied excitedly, "Yes, it's Eastwell Entertainment. The CEO is in town, and they're interested in discussing the details. I haven't confirmed anything yet."

Eastwell Entertainment managed a roster of famous actresses and had a constant demand for dresses due to various fashion events, awards ceremonies, and galas throughout the year.

If they could secure this client, it could potentially elevate their studio's reputation to the next level within the year. Joey was determined.

"What are we waiting for? It's foolish not to make money when the opportunities are at our doorstep. I have an idea."

At 2:00 pm, Joey and Selena drove to Eastwell Entertainment. As they were about to park, a flashy blue sports car suddenly swerved from behind and snatched the parking spot Selena had her eye on. Startled, Selena hit the gas pedal.

A thunderous crash echoed through the air.
