Aria’s POV

I made it three steps down the corridor before my legs gave out.

My back hit the wall, and I slid down slowly until I was sitting on the cold marble floor, knees drawn up, hands pressed to my face.

The elders had saved me.

I hadn’t been completely sure what result involving them would yield. The plan had been a desperate gamble, a last-ditch effort based on fragments of pack law I’d pieced together from half-remembered conversations and the books I’d found in my old room.

But it had

  • Oh My Beta!   Chapter 40

Kade’s POVSunlight streamed through the windows of our bedroom, warm and golden.I woke to the scent of jasmine and the feeling of Claire’s body pressed against mine, her leg draped over my hip, one arm curled across my chest. For the first time in months, I felt… peaceful. No guilt gnawing at my conscience. No whispers following me through the halls. No pale, hollow-eyed girl staring at me like I’d personally destroyed her world.Just Claire. Just us.Exactly how it should have been from the beginning. She stirred against me, her breath warm on my shoulder.“Morning,” she murmured, voice husky with sleep.“Morning.” I pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Sleep well?”“Mmm. Better than I have in years.” She tilted her head up, eyes still half-closed. “What time is it?”I glanced at the clock on the mantle.“Just past eight.”“Good. We have time then.” She stretched like a cat, languid and satisfied, before propping herself up on one elbow. “I was thinking… we should go out today. Just th

  • Oh My Beta!   Chapter 39

Aria’s POVMorning light filtered through the grimy windows, turning the dust motes into dancing stars.I woke to the sound of Olive knocking frantically on my door.“Luna! Luna, are you alright?”I sat up quickly, disoriented. The wardrobe I’d shoved against the door last night loomed like a silent guardian.“I’m fine, Olive. Give me a moment.”With Sapphire lending me strength, I pushed the heavy wardrobe aside enough to open the door.Olive rushed in, eyes wide with worry.“Luna, I tried to bring you breakfast an hour ago but the door wouldn’t budge. I thought…” She stopped, taking in the moved furniture. “What happened?”I closed the door behind her.“Precaution. That’s all.”She didn’t look convinced but didn’t push.“Well, you have a visitor. Elder Cassius is downstairs. He says he’s here to discuss your Luna training.”My pulse quickened.“How long has he been waiting?”“Only a few minutes. I told him you were still dressing.”I moved to the basin and splashed water on my face,

  • Oh My Beta!   Chapter 38

Aria’s POVNight fell over the Cold Palace like a heavy curtain.I stood at my bedchamber window, watching the last rays of sunlight disappear beyond the tree line. The temperature had dropped sharply, and despite the fire crackling in the hearth, cold seeped through the old stone walls.Olive had left an hour ago to check on the kitchen staff and make sure the lower floors were secure for the night. Marta’s cleaning crew had departed at sunset, promising to return in the morning to continue restoration work. Now, the palace was silent. The kind of silence that made every creak of old wood sound like footsteps, every whisper of wind through cracked windowpanes sound like voices.I moved away from the window and sat at the writing desk, pulling one of the old books from the shelf. It was a history of the Blood Fang Pack, written decades ago in fading ink.I needed to learn everything I could about this place, about the pack, about the laws that governed us.Knowledge was power. And rig

  • Oh My Beta!   Chapter 37

Aria’s POVBy late afternoon, the Cold Palace had started to feel less like a prison and more like… possibility.Marta and her cleaning crew had worked miracles in just a few hours. The entrance hall gleamed, the worst of the dust and debris cleared away. The grand staircase no longer creaked quite so ominously. Several of the first-floor rooms had been opened and aired out, their furniture uncovered and arranged. It would take weeks, maybe months, to restore the place fully. But for now, it was livable. And more importantly, it was mine.I stood in my new bedchamber, looking out the tall windows at the overgrown gardens below. The room was enormous, easily twice the size of the cramped servants’ quarters I’d been relegated to in the main house. The four-poster bed was freshly made with crisp white linens. A fire crackled in the marble fireplace, chasing away the chill. The writing desk in the corner was dust-free, waiting. For the first time in weeks, I could breathe.“Luna?” Olive’s

Kade’s POVI stood in the living room, watching through the tall windows as the carriage rolled away down the long drive, disappearing into the tree line.Good riddance.Aria was finally tucked away in the Cold Palace, out of sight, out of mind. As good as gone.It wasn’t the clean break I’d wanted, those unsigned divorce papers still mocked me from my desk but the elders had handed me the next best thing. She was exiled.Banished to a forgotten corner of the estate where no one would see her, no one would remember her, and most importantly, no one would question why Claire was openly acting as Luna. The stubborn bitch had refused to sign. Had the audacity to bring the elders into it, trying to back me into a corner. But I’d won anyway. Because she was gone now, locked away where she belonged. The sound of heels clicking on marble pulled me from my thoughts.I turned to see Claire entering through the main doors, her blue dress catching the afternoon light, pearl earrings glinting. Sh

  • Oh My Beta!   Chapter 35

Aria’s POVThe next morning came too quickly.I woke to the sound of hurried footsteps in the corridor outside my small room, voices raised in hushed instruction, the scraping of furniture being moved. For a disorienting moment, I thought I was back in the main house, waking to the chaos of servants preparing for some grand event. Then reality settled over me like a cold blanket. Today, I was moving to the Cold Palace.Olive burst through the door without knocking, her arms full of folded linens and her face flushed with exertion.“Luna! You’re awake. Good. We don’t have much time.”I sat up slowly, my body still aching from yesterday’s tension.“Time for what?”“The elders sent word this morning. You’re to be moved to the Cold Palace before noon. They’ve already sent a cleaning crew ahead to make it… habitable.” She wrinkled her nose. “Apparently it’s been empty for over twenty years.”Twenty years?I pushed the blanket aside and stood, moving to the small basin in the corner to spla
