Chapter 3

Author: Sweetie Moore
Selena drove the tip of the knife straight into my collarbone.

Blood trickled down the edge of the blade. I cried out in pain and sucked in a sharp breath, but I still forced myself to explain to Selena.

"Selena, I was afraid you'd be heartbroken after losing the baby. That's why I didn't tell you."

Yale shook his head and let out a cold laugh. "Martin, stop using the baby as a shield! If you really loved that child, then why would you hide the pregnancy after you found out she was pregnant?"

He stepped closer and pointed an accusing finger at me.

"I bet you were having an affair and didn't want to take responsibility for the baby. So you tried to get rid of both her and the child!"

Yale's vicious accusations sent a surge of anger through me.

"That's bullshit!" I roared. "I truly love Selena! She's the only woman I've ever loved!"

At my outburst, Selena looked dazed for a split second. I could clearly feel the hand holding the knife tremble slightly.

I opened my mouth to speak. "But—"

"That's enough!"

The next second, her expression turned cold, and she silenced me. She twisted the fruit knife lodged in my collarbone and stared at me with icy detachment.

I stared at Selena in disbelief. The pain in my collarbone was nothing compared to the agony in my chest.

How could my own wife take another man's side?

My heart twisted with bitterness I could barely contain. I looked at Selena with a wounded expression.

But all I saw in her eyes was hatred.

Her face twisted with anger as she spat, "Do you really think everyone is as shameless as you? If Yale hadn't told me about the baby, I would still be completely in the dark!"

She glared at me, her voice shaking with rage. "And even now, you're still trying to drag others down with you? I was wrong about you!"

She paused for a moment before continuing, "At first, I thought you kept quiet because you simply didn't want any children. But I never imagined you'd actually try to kill me just for that woman!"

I stood there, stunned, as Selena's accusations came one after another. By the time she finished, her gaze had turned cold as ice.

I couldn't believe what I'd just heard. Why would Selena believe Yale's nonsense? How could all those years of love mean less to her than a few words from Yale?

Seeing my stunned expression, Selena wore a smug look.

Yale gently slid an arm around Selena, pulling her trembling body close.

"Selena, I'll help you," he whispered in her ear, his voice soft and coaxing. "I promised I'd always be by your side."

Watching them stand so intimately together felt like a sharp blade driven straight through my heart.

At Yale's words, a conflicted look crossed Selena's face. She frowned and closed her eyes for a moment.

When she opened them again, she took a deep breath and bit her lip, as if she'd made up her mind.

"Martin, you betrayed me," she spat. "Now, I'm going to make you suffer a hundred times worse!"

The madness in her eyes sent a chill racing down my spine. She yanked the knife from my collarbone, drawing a bright trail of blood.

The next second, she handed the blood-stained knife to Yale. The very weapon that had severed my ear and dragged across my throat was now in the hands of a man who clearly had his own agenda.

I twisted my body and struggled against my restraints.

But what Selena said next made me freeze.

"Stab him wherever you want. Just avoid anything vital. Don't let him die too easily. He's a monster who doesn't feel pain anyway."

Her heartless words left my body rigid. It felt as if someone had torn out a huge piece of my heart. The pain was unbearable.

Was Selena actually telling Yale to stab me? Was this really the gentle, beautiful woman I married?

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, not in a million years.

"Selena, what's the point of doing all this now? He's already dead. We're both murderers now. We need to get rid of the body as soon as possible," Yale said, his voice low and coaxing.I was stunned. I couldn't believe how calm and composed Yale was while staring at my dead body.
