Two years ago

The whole room hummed from the electricity that passed through the walls. I guess it took a lot of electricity to run a prison facility, and even though my room looked like it was part of a normal house, it was still just a fancy prison cell.

My mom had tried her best to make the place look homely. She had made sure I was provided with a desk and a comfortable seating area in addition to the utilitarian bed and bathroom my father had arranged for me to have. I appreciated her efforts and tried the best I could to keep my spirits up, but it was hard not to feel bitter about being kept inside a cage for all of my life.

It didn’t help that since my wolf awakened a few hours earlier, the humming in the walls seemed so much louder, and the lack of fresh air made my wolf anxious. It was infuriating.

Further down the corridor, I could hear one of the doors opening, causing my heart to beat faster in excitement. I knew that it was probably only a couple of the guards coming to g

  • Once Upon a Forbidden Mate   Book 2 Chapter 2 - Becka

Present day“Good morning, sweetheart,” Eddison purred as he carried my breakfast tray through the door with a far too cheerful grin on his face.Ever since he recognised me as his mate almost two years ago, everything changed. He is now pretty much the only person I ever see. He hasn’t taken a single day off, and he won’t let anyone else come into my room, even for a second. He acts as though I still belong to him even though he rejected me, and I hate it almost as much as I hate him.I tried to ignore him at first, but there is only so long you can go without human interaction before it starts to affect your sanity. At least that is the lie I told myself when I let my walls begin to crack. I wasn’t weak, I just needed someone to talk to. It didn’t mean I had to be nice to him, though, did it?“Good morning, d

  • Once Upon a Forbidden Mate   Chapter 64 - Brianna

I had never felt particularly comfortable in a cocktail dress, high heels, and a face full of makeup. But today was special, today was my Luna ceremony. I had tried to tell my mates that it wasn’t necessary as I had already been doing the job for nearly five months, but they wouldn’t listen to me.They said it was because the pack needed something to celebrate after all the problems we had with Alpha Kennedy and the council. However, I had a feeling that they were also looking forward to showing me off in front of the whole pack, especially now that my bump was starting to show. When I first found out that I was pregnant, I was worried. We hadn’t planned to start a family so soon, and we still weren’t sure if our plan to rid ourselves of the council had been completely successful. It had taken a lot of reassurance from both of my mates to convince me that everything would be fine.As it turned out, I hadn’t needed to worry too much about the council. Shortly after we allowed the counc

The next few hours passed by me in a blur. Mason and Dominic brought me some food and blankets and placed me in a comfortable seat in the corner of the room while they dealt with the aftermath of the council’s takeover bid.I felt a little bad for making the two of them do all the work while I was huddled in the corner. They had only had a little bit more rest than I had over the last few days, and they were probably just as exhausted as I was. There wasn’t much I could do about it, though. Every time I tried to do anything, they would escort me back to my corner and instruct me to rest, and I didn’t have the energy to argue with them.“How long does it really take for a werewolf and a witch to bond with each other?” Dominic complained while rubbing the back of his neck. I could see the weariness in his eyes even though he was trying his best to hide it from me.“I have no idea what witch bonding rituals are like, but I am certain that I don’t want to find out,” Mason replied while gr

This was not going according to plan. I was meant to be delaying whatever scheme the council had planned for us for long enough for Raymond’s ex-mate to complete her spell. It had been going so well, but I hadn’t counted on them threatening Dominic’s family, even though I probably should have. The council were masters of manipulation and Dominic was particularly susceptible to this given his history with them. His new Alpha wolf didn’t help either, your emotions were stronger just after getting your wolf and your ability to push back against your wolf’s control was much lower. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the reason they had targeted him in the first place.I couldn’t worry about that now though, I had to do something to manage this situation. Brianna had already shifted into her wolf and tackled Dominic’s wolf, pushing him onto his side. With him subdued, I could give my full attention to delaying the council. Her spell had to be nearing its end, I just needed to delay them fo

Mason was good at preventing his emotions from showing on his face, but he hadn’t quite gotten the hang of masking them within the bond he shared with Brianna and me. There had been an undercurrent of anxiety coming from his end of the bond ever since he had contacted his Beta back at his pack, and it had been growing stronger with each passing moment.I understood where his anxiety was coming from, and to some extent, I shared it but there was a greater part of me that was eager to give the council a taste of their own medicine. The council had spent too many years manipulating the lives of every member of the supernatural world, and the plan that Raymond and his ex-mate had come up with was perfect.“Do we need to run over each of our parts in the plan one more time?” Raymond’s ex-mate asked while wringing her hands together in the back seat of her car. She had been too nervous to drive, so she had passed that
