The evening sun was setting when Jason Reed found himself staring at the glass walls of his office, his reflection staring back at him, older but not weaker. His temples were silver now, his face lined from years of hard battles, but his eyes carried that same sharp gleam; strategist, protector, husband, father.

“Jason,” Bella’s voice pulled him back. She was leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching him with that knowing half-smile she had worn since the first day he fell for her.

He turned. “You caught me drifting again.”

“Not drifting,” she said, walking closer. “Remembering. That’s allowed.”

Jason reached for her hand and kissed it gently. “We’ve come far, Bella. Sometimes I wonder how we even survived all that madness.”

Her smile softened. “Because we didn’t just survive, Jason. We built something no storm could erase.”

They had built it, indeed. The Phoenix Foundation now known worldwide for its uncompromising commitment to ethical philanthropy. Reed & Co. reborn as

The morning broke too still. Too quiet. It wasn’t the kind of calm that promised peace — it was the kind that came before something broke.Bella felt it the moment she opened her eyes. The air hung heavy, like the world itself was holding its breath.Jason was already awake, sitting at the edge of the bed, elbows on his knees, staring at nothing. His phone buzzed beside him. Another message. Another warning.“Who is it?” she asked softly, her voice still trembling from sleep. He looked over his shoulder. “Security update. Julian’s people are active again. Two sightings last night — one near the florist, one near the venue.”Bella sat up, clutching the sheet. “You think he knows?”Jason nodded once. “He always knows.”She took a slow breath. “So what do we do?”He turned fully then, eyes locked on hers. “We go ahead. We marry today. No matter what he throws at us.”Her lips trembled. “Even if it’s dangerous?”“Especially if it’s dangerous,” Jason said. “He wants to break us before we m

The rain outside came in waves, drumming softly against the wide glass windows. In the middle of Jason’s dimly lit studio, Bella stood frozen, her heart beating so loud she could almost hear it.Jason had promised her something — a truth powerful enough to end the man who had been haunting their every move. But the silence stretched on, heavy and uneasy, as he stood near the window with his hands buried deep in his pockets.“Jason,” Bella whispered, her voice trembling. “You said you found something. What is it? What’s his secret?”Jason didn’t answer right away. His shoulders lifted and fell with a deep, tired breath. “It’s not something I wanted to find,” he said quietly. “But once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.”Bella took a small step forward. “Tell me.”He turned slightly, his face shadowed by the glow of city lights. “My father… George Reed wasn’t just a businessman. He was a collector — of people, of leverage, of secrets. He had files on almost everyone who ever worked with him

The night felt heavier than usual—like the sky itself had sunk lower, pressing down on everything. The city lights outside flickered through the tall windows of Bella’s studio, casting faint gold streaks across the mess on the floor.Broken glass. Torn sketches. A half-finished canvas ripped in two.And Bella—on her knees, hands shaking, face buried in her palms—looked like someone who had just lost everything that made her believe. Her firm was collapsing. The investors had pulled out. Julian Voss had started openly funding rival companies, giving them contracts and media praise. Every client Bella had built from scratch was turning away. And tonight, it had finally broken her.Jason stood in the doorway, silent for a long moment. He didn’t know whether to speak or move. But then, as he saw her shoulders tremble, he stepped forward quietly. He didn’t say a word. He simply knelt down beside her.“Bella,” he whispered, but she didn’t respond. Her fingers dug into the floor as if she co

The cameras flashed like lightning. Questions flew from reporters like arrows. And right in the center of it all—smiling, polished, and dangerous—stood Adrian Vance.“Bella Reed’s firm,” he said with a faint, sympathetic smile, “seems to have forgotten what real art means to a community. It's sad, really. Passion traded for profit.”The crowd murmured. Some nodded. Others frowned. But the damage was already done. His words didn’t need to be loud; they just needed to linger. From a few steps away, Bella froze. Her breath caught in her throat. She forced a professional smile, but her hands trembled behind her back.Later, when they escaped the crowd and shut the office doors behind them, the mask finally cracked.“He’s using my reputation against me, Jason!” she burst out, pacing across the floor. Her voice trembled between anger and heartbreak. “He’s making it sound like everything I’ve worked for is fake—like I’m just doing this to show off!”Jason leaned against the desk, watching he

The night had been calm — almost too calm. For once, Bella allowed herself to breathe. No cameras. No boardrooms. No endless messages from Jason’s security team. Just soft music, the faint hum of conversations, and walls covered in quiet beauty. She stood before a painting — all shadows and light — and let herself drift. For the first time in months, her heartbeat slowed. Then a voice, smooth and familiar, cut through the stillness.“I always knew you had an eye for beauty, Bella.”Her fingers froze mid-air. She turned. And for a moment, her world tilted.“Adrian?”There he was — Adrian Vance. The name alone sent ripples down her spine. Sterling Vance’s younger brother. Jason’s old rival’s bloodline. But Adrian was nothing like Sterling. No hunger for power. No venom in his smile. He’d been gentle once — the kind of man who painted feelings instead of hiding them.He smiled, that same soft curve of lips she remembered from long ago.“You look surprised,” he teased lightly. “I didn’t t

  • Once my Wife   Chapter 108: A Moment of Surrender

The night felt heavy — the kind that presses against your chest and won’t let go.Bella stood by the window, watching the city glow beneath them. New York looked alive as always, but she felt miles away from it. Lately, every headline, every attack, every whisper online felt like another brick thrown at the life they’d built. She wasn’t made for this kind of war. She had always built things from the heart — with trust, kindness, vision. But power was a cruel game, and it was dragging Jason back into the darkness she thought he had left behind. He was out on the balcony, his back to her, staring at the skyline. He didn’t even notice she’d come closer. His shoulders were tight, fists clenched at the rail like he was trying to hold the world still.“Jason,” she said softly. He didn’t move. She tried again, stepping out beside him. “You’ve been out here for almost an hour.”“They hit us again today,” he muttered, voice low. “Pulled another investor. Spread another story. They think they c
