Chapter 4

Penulis: Seven Sevens
The patrol team soon expanded the search area to the outskirts of the territory.

Three days later, a patrol warrior stumbled into Chad's residence. "Mr. Senna! We discovered female remains downstream of a river on the edge of the territory."

The warrior's face was as pale as a sheet, and his voice trembled in his throat. "The body parts were cut very finely, but we found something special on them."

When Chad arrived at the scene where the body was found, his legs could hardly support his body.

Several white cloths were laid on the stone platform, stained with blackish blood.

He stood there, hesitating to walk over.

The warriors exchanged uneasy glances.

Finally, one of the werewolves lifted the white cloths.

The body parts had been dismembered and thrown into the river. They had swelled, turned white from being soaked for so long, and emitted a foul stench of decay. They were scattered there. They would never be able to be pieced together as they once were.

The coroner's voice was strained. "The dismembered body parts have been soaked for too long and cannot be identified by smell, but we found a tattoo on the inside of the left wrist."

My soul floated beside Chad, watching him approach step by step.

I knew what it was. It was the tattoo I had painstakingly pierced with a needle the day I awakened my inner wolf as an adult.

It was Timothy's initials.

Back then, I thought it was proof of love. Now, it seemed like nothing more than me being silly and sentimental.

"The tattoo is faded and a little blurry from the skin being soaked in water for so long, but the outline is still discernible." The coroner carefully turned the wrist over.

Timothy's initials were right there.

Chad's body swayed violently. He was the only one who knew this secret.

One year at the full moon festival, I got drunk. I hugged him and cried, rolling up my sleeve to show him the tattoo. "Chad, look! I tattooed his name here. Does that mean we'll never be apart?"

He called me stupid, saying he would find a chemical solution to remove it.

I clutched my wrist, shaking my head desperately and saying I wanted to protect my secret. No one was allowed to touch it. Now, this secret had become the only evidence he could use to identify me within this pile of rotten flesh.

The coroner cautiously broke the silence. "Mr. Senna, do you recognize this tattoo?"

Chad opened his mouth but could not utter a single word. He reached out to touch the severed wrist, but his fingertips trembled uncontrollably in mid-air, unable to close the distance.

Meanwhile, Timothy was lying on the bed receiving treatment in the treatment room. Without warning, the blood-patterned markings on his tongue exuded a blinding red glow.

Extreme suffocation instantly overwhelmed him. Ignoring the pain in his chest, he sprang from the bed, clutched his neck with both hands, and let out a terrifying scream.

The icy chill of the river and the stench of the mud frantically rushed into his mouth and nose. He felt as if he were drowning.

"He can't breathe! Get him on the ventilator!"

The healer panicked, while Rochell screamed as she rushed over. "Timothy, what's come over you?"

Timothy could not hear anything. His mind went blank as his consciousness rapidly plummeted into an abyss.

In that abyss, he saw the murky, icy river water, the light receding into the distance, and endless, chilling darkness...

That was how I felt when I was dismembered and thrown to the bottom of the river.

Now, Timothy felt it all too.

"Leah..." He mustered his last ounce of strength to wheeze out my name.

At the scene of the body recovery on the riverbank, the coroner's face contorted with reluctance as he whispered again, "Mr. Senna, is this tattoo... Leah's?"

Chad uttered dryly, "Yes."

After saying that, his back slumped limply as if all the blood had been drained from his body.

Thus, the future Luna who had gone missing, Leah Senna, was officially declared dead.

When the news reached home, Timothy had just been pulled back from the brink of death with a healing spell.

Chad pushed aside the guards in the treatment room and strode to the bedside. He did not yell or hit him. He simply stood there, looking condescendingly at Timothy with a chilling calm, and uttered, "Timothy, Leah is dead."

With the evidence on the USB drive and Rochell's confession, the Rogues haunting the territory border were completely eradicated. Their leader was sentenced to death by the Alpha Council.Rochell was publicly expelled from the pack and was sentenced to life imprisonment in a pitch-dark dungeon for her crimes of treason and murder, with no chance of release.Timothy's pack ended up paying a huge fine and undergoing a major reshuffle after Timothy voluntarily handed over the complete evidence and personally led the law enforcement team to wipe out the Rogues' stronghold.Although it suffered huge losses, the pack's foundation was saved.Everything was done and dusted.Chad and Timothy stood side by side in the cemetery on the mountain behind the pack. There was no picture on the tombstone, as no usable photograph could be found. The cold stone was only engraved with the words ‘Leah Senna’.Chad burned a copy of the council's judgment at the tombstone, and the smoke rose gently. "No! Timothy, you can't say that about me!"Rochell clung to Timothy's legs, completely hysterical. "What did I do wrong? I just wanted to be your mate! It was Leah! She was the one who hogged you! She deserves to be torn apart! I've been with you for so many years! Why does your wolf choose her the moment she shows up? I finally made you hate her and got you back. I can't lose you again! I'm jealous of her. I hate her! I want her dead!"All her composure and restraint had vanished, leaving only the ugliest possessiveness.Timothy looked at the deranged female werewolf at his feet, his eyes filled only with endless loathing. He kicked her away with such force that the blood from his old wound seeped through the bandage again. "Don't touch me with your filthy hands."His voice was so calm that it was terrifying. "Rochell, the elders will punish you with the harshest pack laws for the crimes you've committed, but I'll make you wish you were dead before your punishment even starts. Ev

"I... I was just passing by while patrolling the territory and thought I'd get a coffee," Rochell explained frantically."Timothy, what's the meaning of this? Do you suspect me of being involved?""I don’t suspect you." Timothy slowly sat up in bed. "I'm just wondering why you would go to a border town you usually find dirty and grubby to buy a drink you don’t like.” He stared intently at Rochell's face, his eyes indifferent. "And this chat record is well-forged, but you missed one detail."He held up the paper, pointing at the word ‘Darling’. "Leah is stubborn. She never uses pet names, not even me. My caller ID in her phone is still 'Timothy'."Rochell's face paled instantly. "No... No! Timothy, let me explain..."Bang! The wooden door of the treatment room was kicked open with force.Chad strode in with two pack enforcers, dragging a male werewolf who had been beaten beyond recognition. It was the leader of that group of Rogues."Timothy, Rochell. The show's over." Chad's v

The pack office was in complete chaos.Timothy was rushed back to the treatment room immediately. This time, he firmly refused Rochell's company.Lying in bed, he was covered with gauze soaked in medicine. The large, red, swollen blisters with flaked skin decorating his body were exactly the same as the silver burns described in the autopsy report. He finally had to confront the absurd yet very real truth. All the intense pain he was experiencing was a perfect match for the torture I had endured before my death. The memories he had deliberately ignored now flooded his mind. I had told him I was secretly investigating the disturbances at the territory border. I had warned him that the pack's defense was weak and that Rogues had infiltrated. How did he reply at that time?"Leah, put aside your self-righteous hero fantasies and just stay at home. Territory defense is the warriors’ job. You can't even maintain your wolf form properly. Don't cause any trouble for me."His arrogance

"Get out? Timothy, I think you're blind!" Chad laughed exasperatedly. He refused to waste any more time on Timothy or Rochell, so he turned around and slammed the room door shut.Inside the treatment room, Rochell gently wiped the cold sweat off Timothy's forehead. "Timothy, cool down. What if you make yourself sick from all this anger? I told you, Leah is smart. How could anything bad happen to her? She'll come back grudgingly after she gets bored of the werewolf from another pack in a few days."Timothy stayed quiet, closing his eyes tiredly. He desperately tried to believe the ‘evidence’ Rochell gave him, but that photograph and the lingering pain in his body still stabbed his heart like a sharp thorn.A few days later, a detailed autopsy report was released.Chad held the report and kicked open the door of the pack's office. "Timothy, take a good look!"Chad threw the report forcefully onto the huge, long table. "The deceased: Leah Senna. Time of death: seven days ago. Cause

"The amputated limbs were retrieved from the lower end of the river near the border. It had been in the water for so long that not a single piece of intact flesh could be found. The only thing that could be identified was the initials that she tattooed on her left wrist for you."Chad pulled out a photograph of the tattoo and shoved it in Timothy's face. The letters, which had been soaked white by the water and had blurry edges, were like a red-hot branding iron, searing through Timothy's pupils.'Dead? Leah's... dead? Impossible! She's just throwing a tantrum. She just ran away with another wolf. How could she possibly die?' Timothy wondered."Nonsense!" Timothy forcefully threw the photo away, ignoring the pain in his chest and struggling to sit up."She can't be dead! You guys must be mistaken!""Mistaken?" Chad scoffed. "Timothy, are you still deceiving yourself? Didn't you confidently claim earlier that she betrayed her mate and ran off with another werewolf? Then why was sh
