As I watched him, I noticed he was looking back at me with an expression of confusion. I couldn't determine if he believed me when I claimed I was his lover.

Although I had involuntarily spoken those words, I realized they reflected the nature of our relationship; I just hadn't clarified that our connection was merely a deal.

“You don’t believe me?” I prompted, as he hesitated to respond.

His frown deepened, and I could see him wince as he shifted, a reminder of the scars he bore from his fall off the cliff.

The memory of his condition after the accident flooded my mind, and an overwhelming sense of worry washed over me for his well-being.

After my earlier conversation with Dad, I felt compelled to find Clark and alert him about Dad's directive for his men to follow him.

As I made my way toward him, I noticed a car trailing closely behind. To avoid being detected, I swerved out of its path, but Clark spotted the vehicle as well and quickly accelerated.

My heart sank as I

As he was packing his belongings to head home, his cellphone rang. While he busily tucked his laptop into his bag, I caught sight of the name flashing on the screen—it was my niece calling, and I couldn't help but frown in surprise. Our eyes met. "Does she often call you?" I asked. "Not really," he replied. "Then why haven’t you mentioned her?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued. "She’s not someone worth discussing," he shrugged dismissively. "But you always answer when she calls. What do you two talk about?" I pressed, sensing there was more to the story. I noticed him let out a deep sigh, and to my surprise, he suddenly handed me his phone. “If you’re so curious, why not answer it?” he said casually while his cellphone continued to ring. As he packed his laptop into his bag, I noticed his indifference. Instead of picking up my niece’s call, I simply turned his phone off. “Why didn’t you answer it and see what she wante

"Wait, not here." I halted him as our kiss grew more intense. "But I want you, my Angelo," he insisted passionately. "I know, but we can't do this here." I intervened again, adding, "There are investors arriving soon, and what you desire simply cannot happen right now." I hoped this explanation would deter him from pursuing his intentions further. "Hmmm, remember what I said before? I can invest in your company, eliminating the need for other investors. I can provide whatever you need, regardless of the amount." "I understand, but it's more than just securing an investor. I really need to broaden my connections within the world of influential business people." "Isn't my name enough? You know how well I'm connected in the business world." "Clark…" "Hmmm, fine! But you have to kiss me first," he said, pointing at his lips playfully. I simply shook my head, lifting myself slightly from my seat to press my lips against his. "Now go! Just

"Clark!" "Surprise, brother," I said, walking over to him. Since I didn't have a cast on one of my hands and my limp from the accident was almost gone, I seized Harold by the collar. Being slightly taller than him, I lifted him off his feet, forcing him to stand on his tiptoes. "I still respect you as my older brother, but what have you done? Huh?" My voice lacked aggression, yet each word carried weight. "H-how..." "How did I survive? You really wanted me dead when I fell off the cliff after being chased by your men and your friend's men, didn’t you? Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you, brother. You failed." I said, pushing him slightly before releasing my grip on his collar. As I pushed him, he stumbled backward. I reclaimed my throne—the seat he had occupied for nearly a week after declaring me dead. “Since you started this, brother, I won't let you down. And while I still can hold my own, you're free to leave,” I warned him, preparing to

"Can't you wait until your injuries are fully healed before you go out to show your brother?" Angelo questioned, already having persuaded me to stay in for the time being. I explained that I intended to surprise my brother at my workplace. "I can do this. It will be enough for him to enjoy a week thinking I’m gone." "But you have no idea what he might do to you, especially given your current state," he warned. "Hmmm, are you actually worried about me?" I teased, stepping closer to him. He instinctively leaned back against the edge of the table. "What do you think? If I didn’t care about you, I wouldn’t have helped you after your accident," he replied. I locked my gaze on him as I moved even closer, until there was no distance left between us, positioning myself between his legs as he braced himself on the table. As my hand rose, I grasped his neck, pulling him closer until our foreheads nearly touched. Our faces were just inches apart, and I

“Thank you!” I smiled at Angelo as he helped me clean up and get dressed. He responded with a brief, “Mmm,” then assisted me in lying back down on the bed. I realized it was time to stop pretending; if he discovered that I was feigning amnesia, it might upset him. I had already devised a plan to reveal to him that my memory had returned. “Get some rest. If you're sleepy, you should go to bed first. I still have some work to finish up,” he said. Each time he left the room, he placed a gentle kiss on my forehead, and I smiled as I watched him go. Once I was alone, I waited until I was certain he was in his library office before pulling out my cellphone. I instructed my assistant to prepare for my return the next day. It had been a week since my accident, and although I was still alive, my brother had already taken control of my company according to what my assistant informed me. He had assumed the responsibilities I left behind and told e
