Chapter 10: I Dare Not Disobey

Author: Tuobayanqing
Speaking of her son's injury, Lady Tong's eyes welled up with tears. "When Yulin had his accident, the whole family was in a panic. We were just focused on saving his life and didn't think about anything else. It wasn't until ten days after his surgery, when he was out of danger, that we thought to contact Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah. We sent several emails to his address, but we never received a reply."

"He often holes up in the mountains where there's no signal, so it's not surprising he didn't see the emails," Feng Wuan said, well aware of her master's habits. She knew that if she couldn't reach him, he was likely in some secluded mountain.

Nelson FitzGerald, who was sitting on the same sofa as her, asked, "Can he be treated?"

"Yes."

Her resolute answer brought a glimmer of hope to the Tongs. Lady Tong, overwhelmed with emotion, knelt down to confirm, "Miss Feng, can my son really be cured? Can he return to normal like before?"

"Yes, though it has been delayed for quite some time. The treatment will also take longer. He should wake up in about ten days, and it might take another half a month or so for him to fully recover and move around freely."

Lady Tong's tears flowed, tears of joy. "That's not too long, as long as Yulin can get better."

Orville Henley's face also showed a clear expression. He only had this one son, and he had been very worried during this period. A stiff smile appeared on his lips, and his emotions were more evident than before. "Miss Feng, how should we proceed with the treatment? What do we need to prepare?"

"We need to prepare some herbs. There are a few rare Chinese medicinal herbs that are hard to find. I'll write a list for you, and you should try to procure them as soon as possible. Both acupuncture and internal medicine will be needed to help him regain consciousness."

"Alright, I'll arrange for someone to buy them right away," Orville Henley responded.

Feng Wuan believed that with the Tong family's status, even the most elusive herbs could be obtained. She took out a pen and paper from her bag and quickly wrote down a long list of herbal names, handing it to Orville Henley. She pointed to the top two items on the list. "You should stock up on these two, preferably wild ones, at least two pounds each. If you can't find enough wild ones, then get more cultivated ones, and I'll purify them later."

"Okay." Orville Henley carefully read through the list and then instructed his wife to entertain the guests while he went to handle the procurement.

Old Master, now calmer, inquired, "Miss Feng, does Yulin need acupuncture every day?"

"Yes, he needs it three times a day—morning, noon, and night—without interruption until he wakes up."

"Alright, thank you, Miss Feng, for your efforts during this time." Old Master felt a great weight lifted off his chest, knowing his grandson could recover. He then asked, "Miss Feng, where are you staying in Y City?"

"At a hotel."

"Oh, at a hotel. Miss Feng, since Yulin needs acupuncture three times a day, it would be very tiring for you to travel back and forth. If you don't mind, would you consider staying with us for a while?"

"That's fine," Feng Wuan agreed to their arrangement.

"Ayuan, please arrange a guest room for Miss Feng and send a driver to the hotel to help her bring her luggage over," Old Master instructed.

"Alright," Lady Tong nodded.

Feng Wuan gathered the medical reports and handed them back to Lady Tong. She then stood up, "I'll go check on the patient now and examine his head injury again."

"Please follow me," Old Master led the way.

Yulin had a dedicated caregiver, and his room was bright and tidy, with fresh flowers on the cabinet to purify the air.

After entering, Feng Wuan gave a brief glance at the unconscious man lying on the bed. He was quite handsome, but not in the same league as Nelson FitzGerald.

She sat on a stool by the bed, first taking his pulse. After a couple of minutes, she turned to the caregiver, "Help him sit up and remove his shirt. We will start the acupuncture now."

"Yes."

Old Master stepped forward to assist, helping the caregiver to support Yulin.

Feng Wuan took out the silver needles and then retrieved a small white bottle from her medical kit. She dipped the needle tips into a dark green liquid and, under everyone's watchful eyes, inserted them into the acupoints on his head.

Seeing his grandson's head and back covered in densely packed silver needles, Old Master felt a bit uneasy and tried to ease the tension, "Miss Feng, how long will the acupuncture take this time?"

"Until the smoke clears."

"Smoke?" Old Master was puzzled.

Once all the needles were in place, a layer of white mist rose from Yulin's head within half a minute. Old Master understood and was shocked, "This... this..."

Nelson FitzGerald, who had been watching quietly, spoke up, "Miss Feng, your medical skills must surpass those of your master, right?"

"No, my skills are still inferior to his. He often scolds me for lacking talent."

Feng Wuan was serious; her skills were indeed not as good as her master's, and she still had much to learn.

Nelson FitzGerald believed her and stated, "So, the medical skills Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah displayed in the past were not his full capabilities."

"He only takes on patients he can easily cure within a few days, collects his fee, and leaves. He doesn't want to deal with time-consuming cases. For a patient like your grandfather, he probably saw the detailed symptoms and the attached medical reports, along with a generous fee, which made him willing to take the case," Feng Wuan explained.

They understood that Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah was an impatient and trouble-averse person, which matched his character.

Orville Henley returned after handling the herb procurement and was surprised to see the thick mist rising from his son's head. Noticing Feng Wuan was not in the room, he asked softly, "Dad, where is Miss Feng?"

"She went to the restroom."

Orville Henley nodded and sat down next to Nelson FitzGerald, speaking in a low voice, "Sian, thank you for bringing Miss Feng here."

"Uncle Qi, you're too formal."

Nelson FitzGerald and the Tong family had a close relationship. His father, Chu Yanjun, and Orville Henley were childhood friends and had been very close. After Chu Yanjun and his wife passed away, the Tong family had taken care of them, and the A Group had also received significant support from the Tongs.

Feng Wuan returned from the restroom, having made a phone call to a friend. She entered the room just as the mist from Yulin's head was dissipating. She asked Orville Henley, "Mr. Henley, when will the herbs be delivered?"

"It's a bit tight today, and we haven't managed to procure everything yet. We have enough for three days, and they will be delivered in about half an hour."

"Alright, let's use what we have for now." Feng Wuan walked behind Yulin to remove the needles and turned to Nelson FitzGerald, "If you have nothing else to do, could you take me back to the Four Seasons Peninsula? I need to pick up my luggage and start preparing the medicine."

"Divine Doctor Feng's orders, I dare not disobey," Nelson FitzGerald admired her boldness. Only she would dare to order him around like a driver.

Old Master smiled, looking between the two, "Sian, thank you for your hard work. Once Yulin is up and about, feel free to boss him around."

"I wouldn't dare to boss him around. Once he's better, I'll just stick to having tea and painting with Aunt Ayuan. That will make everyone happy."

Nelson FitzGerald and Yulin had a good relationship. Since Yulin's accident, Nelson FitzGerald had been deeply concerned and had seen the worry of Yulin's parents and elders. Now, he only hoped Yulin would wake up safely and spend more time with his family.
