Chapter 5 Met with her ex-boyfriend

Alice hear her daughter's words and was amused, as she chuckled, “Why did you say that?”

“Because…. I think daddy don’t loves mommy.” Eliana continued. “Other daddies kiss their children every day and play with them. But my daddy visits us only once or twice a year each time. He just says a few words and then leaves. He doesn’t even hug you. He doesn’t love me. I don’t want this Daddy anymore.”

Alice's heart sank.

She did not dare to tell Eliana the truth for fear that it would come as a terrible blow to her. So, Alice asked someone to help her out and pretend to be Eliana’s father.

She did not expect Eliana to be so intelligent and considerate.

Eliana continued, “Mommy, don’t think that I will be upset by a divorce. Why don’t you look for another man? As long as he loves you, I will also be able to accept him! If he has children, I will get along with them as well.”

“Silly girl.”

Alice’s eyes turned red on hearing that, “Other than you, Mommy doesn’t need anyone!”

“But I want a brother.” Eliana smiled and said, “I want mommy and daddy to pamper me and an elder brother who can take care of me and play with me.”

Alice patted her head and hugged her. However, she didn’t say anything and remained silent. She thought of her son who was taken away from her and she wondered how he was doing now. She wished she could see her son one day and hug him tightly.

When Eliana saw Alice being sad, she swore in her heart that she would look for a considerate and caring man for her mother. Who can protect her and love her mother?

That night, Alice received an e-mail from the HR department of the Dream High Group which informed her to start working at Hotel Dream High the next Monday.

Alice was tidying up the apartment when she saw Eliana was busy playing with the iPad. “What are you playing, baby?”

Eliana quickly hugged the iPad and said, “I am not telling you.”

“Okay, fine. I won’t look at it.”

Elaina continued to fill in the information after Alice walked away. It turned out that Eliana was registering Alice on a dating website.

She was satisfied with some of the men she saw on the website. However, she liked the man she met at the airport very much. She felt that he was certainly suitable for her mother.

But… she couldn’t find him on this website.

As for Alice, she had completely no idea that her smart daughter was on a mission to find a good husband for her…

If she know, she would certainly be shocked…

The day that Alice reported to work was the tenth anniversary of Hotel Dream High, which was why she was very busy throughout the day.

“Alice… Is that you?”

Just as she was busy with arranging the staff to work…

Alice was shocked by the familiar yet somehow strange voice…

Alice turned around and saw a young couple. The man was handsome and looked unsettled and the woman held his arm tightly…

Even though it had already been five years, Alice still felt hurt when she saw her ex-boyfriend walking hand in hand with her ex-best friend. She would never forget what her ex-boyfriend did to her five years ago.

Clenching her fists, she managed to smile and said, “It’s been a while.”

Evan looked at Alice and wanted to say something but eventually Ruby tighten her grip on his hand and nothing was able to come out of his mouth.

Ruby Hart held onto Evan's arm tighter and said to Alice, “Why didn’t you tell us that you are back?”

“I don’t think it was necessary,” Alice replied.

“I heard that you went abroad and broke all ties with the Brown family.” Ruby pretended to be concerned but the evil smile in her eyes showed her intentions. “You should go back home and reunite with your family.”

Noticing that Alice was not looking good and was feeling uncomfortable, Evan said. “Let’s go, Ruby.”

“What’s the hurry? We haven’t seen each other for so many years. I want to have a good chat with Alice.” Ruby said as she forced Alice into the elevator.

When the elevator opened, Ruby dragged Alice inside. At the same time, someone in a business suit brushed past Alice and she felt that she met him before.

Alice was about to look up to see who he was, when Ruby was one step ahead and asked, “Alice, Will you come?”

“What?” Alice asked.

“Will you come to our engagement party?” Ruby said while playing with the diamond ring on her finger. She wanted to show off in front of Alice.

With her eyes lit up and the corner of her lips tilting upwards, Ruby looked smug and condescending.

“It’s on the eighteenth of next month. I hope that you can attend the party.”

The familiar and expensive ring stung Alice’s eyes. She once visited the jewelry shop with Evan and pointed to a ring, saying that it would be the designated engagement ring for them. Little did she expect that the ring would end up on her best friend's finger.

“I just started working at this hotel and I won’t have the time for it.” Alice looked away from the ring.

“Alice you must come!” Ruby held onto Alice’s hand and then said, “I have always hoped that someday you will be my bridesmaid.”

Hearing that, Alice was speechless. She thought to herself “So, you mean that you have had the intention of stealing Evan from me for a long time?”

Ruby continued, “I know that you might be embarrassed about coming to my party without a partner. But it’s okay. I can introduce my friend to you.”

“No need, I do have a boyfriend. I just don’t have the time for it.” Alice pushed away Ruby’s arm. “Besides, my ex-boyfriend, aka your fiance, might not want me to go.”

Hearing this, Evan's face darkened.

Ruby paused and then held Alice’s hand again as she said, “Alice, why do you ask your boyfriend to come with you? I want to thank him for taking such good care of you.”

“Don’t bother. He is very busy.”

Because of the pulling and shoving between Alice and Ruby, Alice lost her balance and was about to fall. However, Ruby just stood there, not intending to help her at all.

A few seconds later, Alice fell on someone’s firm chest and hear a familiar chuckle.
