LOGINThe moment Drake saw Ronan, the air itself seemed to thicken.
Something crossed his face but he masked it, tightening his fists as he approached him. “How dare you?” he growled. “You won't like to do that,” Ronan said, voice calm, smoke clouding his face. “After all, you are using him.” Drake paused, inches from Ronan, chest heaving, he lifted a fist, aiming straight for Ronan's face. “Using him? You….” Ronan caught it midair and twisted it aside. “Not here for a fight,” he said, eyes glinting. “I'm here to make a deal.” Drake’s jaw clenched, nostrils flaring. “I don’t want to hear your deal. Get out of my office.” Ronan leaned back in his chair, cigarette smoke curling lazily around his sharp jawline. “You sure. It's something quite interesting.” Drake's brow furrowed. “Interesting?” Ronan’s smirk widened. “A bet. The first person to sleep with him. Becomes the heir.” Drake’s head snapped up, voice sharp. “Wait! You’re using my boyfriend as a pawn? And who says I haven't already…..” “No one's touched him,” Ronan interrupted, tilting his head, eyes dark and gleaming with amusement. “Because all you cared about was dragging me down.” Drake swallowed, his teeth grinding. “And you think you can just… just sleep with him before me?” Ronan leaned forward, lips curling. “Let’s watch then. But there is a simple rule.” Drake stared at him, eyes impatient. Ronan's eyes twitched. “No drugs. And it has to be mutual. Otherwise, the bet’s void.” Drake blinked, his chest heaving, trying to act composed. “Mutual? You’re insane if you think he would ....” Ronan chuckled, slow and low. “Do you think love makes you own him?” Drake’s lips pressed into a thin line, eyes narrowing. “We will see about that.” Ronan snapped his fingers, and two men in black appeared instantly, placing documents on the desk. “Once our signature is engraved on this. The bet is on. The winner takes the company and inheritance, everything. And whoever violates the rule has a compensation to pay.” Drake’s heart hammered, his fingers hesitate as he took the pen. He stared at the documents as if they burned his fingers, before finally signing with a sharp exhale. Ronan’s smirk widened as he signed his documents. “May the best man win.” — Later that afternoon, Ronan returned to his office, to see everything set and arranged. Jayden sat behind a desk at the rear end of the office, a smile plastered on his face as he talked on the phone. Ronan shut the door silently behind him, chest tightening at the sight. “Did you check my schedule?” he asked, voice low and dangerous. Jayden spun abruptly, his heart skipping noticing Ronan’s presence. “I…..yes,” he mouthed. Ronan leaned against the edge of the desk, eyes sharp. Seconds later, Jayden ended the call and approached Ronan's desk with a tablet in hand. “You really have no big events during this week,” he reported. Ronan nodded, sliding into his chair. Jayden placed the tablet on his desk and returned to his desk, draping his jacket over his shoulders. “Going home?” Ronan asked, lighting a cigarette. “To your boyfriend?” Jayden nodded, his ears reddening as he grabbed his bag. He stepped forward, reaching for the door but Ronan's voice stopped him. “Wait.” Before Jayden could turn, Ronan's hand crossed over his neck, fixing his pendant neatly. Jayden froze, a sharp jolt of surprise and confusion shooting through him. “Why…..” But the moment Jayden turned, Ronan silenced him with a kiss, soft and short. Jayden pushed him back, eyes ablaze as his chest heaved heavily. “You owed me that,” Ronan murmured, returning to his chair. Jayden clenched his fists, face red. “You know this is called sexual harassment. And I can sue you for that.” Ronan’s eyes glimmered, unreadable. “I will love to see you try.” Jayden turned sharply, storming out, leaving Ronan twirling on his chair, amusement flickering across his face like a flame dancing in shadow. — Later in the evening, Jayden returned home to find his apartment transformed. Candles flickered along the edges of the room, a soft glow painting the walls. The dining table was set, elegant and meticulous, and Drake was there, tie off, sleeves rolled up, hands busy with finishing touches. Jayden froze, mouth slightly open, cheeks flushed. “What…?” Drake looked up when he heard his voice, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “I know it's too late. But at least we should celebrate our anniversary.” he said. Jayden swallowed, feeling a rush of warmth, relief and lingering guilt. “You did all this…?” Drake nodded, brushing a strand of hair from his face. “For you. Now go wash up quickly.” Jayden nodded, heading towards the bathroom. Minutes later, he returned downstairs dressed in his night wear. Drake pulled a seat out for him, Jayden's face flushed, his ears bright red. They ate in silence but Jayden’s stomach clenched as Drake’s gaze lingered, warm and assessing. Suddenly, Drake leaned in kissing the corners of Jayden's lips. “There was a sauce there,” he murmured, licking his lips. “And it seems it tastes better.” Jayden lowered his head, his face reddening, a huge smile dancing on his lips. — After dinner, they sat on the couch eating late night snacks while watching a movie. Jayden leaned into Drake's arms, his face buried in Drake's chest while Drake hands tightened around Jayden's waist. Each fleeting touch of fingers, each breath dripping familiarity and longing that made Jayden's heart thump loudly. Eventually, Jayden spoke, voice hesitant. “I…switched offices. Drake's eyes flickered for a moment, his fingers curling into a fist but he masked it, voice steady. “Your happiness is what matters.” Jayden lifted his gaze, leaning out of Drake's arms. “You are…..” But Drake leaned in, shutting him up with a soft short kiss. Jayden’s eyes watered, his heart spinning with a heat he couldn’t name. Without thinking, he leapt into Drake’s arms, lips colliding in a desperate, consuming kiss. Drake groaned, tilting him closer, hands exploring, lips claiming, until their breaths tangled and his body pressed against Jayden’s. Every touch sparked fire, every gasp pulled them deeper as their clothes got untangled beneath the red glow. Just as Drake’s lips began their dangerous descent, Jayden’s phone shattered the moment with a sharp ring. The night air struck Ronan's lungs the second he jumped off Jayden's window, landing on the gravel below. His knees bent instantly to absorb the impact, his coat flaring behind him before settling into stillness. For a moment, he didn't move as his eyes lifted instinctively towards Jayden's room watching the curtains sway faintly.Ronan exhaled slowly and turned, moving along the wall in swift silence.Every step was measured and controlled like the practiced movements of someone who had survived too many ambushes to trust quiet nights. He was three strides from the fence when suddenly his instinct screamed halting his step. His gaze shifted sideways too quickly and there were men, dressed entirely in black, blending into the darkness so perfectly they almost didn't exist. They had no flashlights, no voices nor sound accompanying them just slow patrol patterns designed for one purpose. “To capture him.”Ronan's jaw tightened. “You never change, old man.” he murmured under his breath.
The gunshot still echoed in Jayden’s ears long after the sound died.Blood hit the floor first, quietly.Jayden’s gaze lifted inch by inch until the figure standing in front of him came into focus, Black. His shoulders trembled slightly, one hand pressed against the spreading stain soaking through his coat. Dark red seeped between his fingers, dripping steadily onto the concrete.Alessio lowered the gun, irritation flashing across his face.“What,” he said coldly, “do you think you are doing?”Black exhaled through clenched teeth, voice steady despite the strain. “Why don't you rethink this?”Jayden stared, breath stuck somewhere between his lungs and throat.“He’s still useful,” Black continued calmly. “Killing him now gains us nothing.”Smoke curled from Alessio’s cigarette as he tilted his head. “You stepped in front of my bullet.”“Sir…”“Do you believe your explanation is worth it?” Alessio interrupted, coldly.Black's lips twitched faintly. “I believe it is, if you spare me a c
The air in the room seemed to vanish as sweat clouded Jayden's palm.Black stood by the doorway, hands tucked casually into his coat pockets, his expression carved from stone.Sunlight hit him from behind, turning him into a silhouette blocking the only clear path to the door.“Well,” Black said mildly, gaze drifting to the bedstand. “You never disappoint me.”Jayden’s breathing came out fast and heavy as his hands instinctively pulled out the USB drive and slid it into his pocket. But Black noticed his movement, his lips curving faintly. “Your actions are so predictable.”Jayden's lips quivered. “What do you want?”Jayden chuckled under his breath and took a step forward, each step closing the distance between them.“So,” Black continued, ignoring Jayden's question, “this is what you've been rushing your life for.”Jayden swallowed. “My life is none of your business.”“None of my business?” Black repeated, stopping at the foot of the bed.So close enough for Jayden to notice the fain
The tension in the room was so sharp as Drake gazed at Jayden, the phone sitting firmly on his outstretched palm.Jayden’s heartbeat pounded so violently that he took a step back afraid Drake might hear it.“My arm hurts, Jayden.” he said, voice low.Jayden swallowed, his fingers trembling so badly as he took the phone from Drake.Just then, the phone vibrated against his palm and he nearly dropped the phone.“Who's that?” Drake inquired, instantly.Jayden's breath caught when he saw the message. “Dial this number.” it read.He quickly turned slightly away, pressing the phone against his chest as if shielding it from sight.Drake reached for the phone. “Hand it over.”Jayden's throat tightened. “I…I…I will call him.”And without thinking, he dialed the number afraid Drake might suspect if he wasted even one quarter of a second. The ringing lasted for a second, then…“Jayden? Finally,” a familiar voice answered warmly. “You ended the call abruptly. Is there any problem?”Jayden's stoma
The crack of the gunshot shattered the morning before Jayden even understood what the sound was as glass exploded behind him.A sharp hand slammed into his chest. “Down!”The world tilted violently as Drake dragged him to the floor, Jayden's shoulder hitting marble as breath knocked out of his lungs.Drake's body covered his instinctively, one arm braced over Jayden's head as another shot rang somewhere outside.Silence followed heavy and ringing.Jayden blinked as his ears buzzed, Drake's familiar cologne scent mixed with blood and shattered glasses lingering in his nose.Drake didn't move as his weight pressed solidly over Jayden, shielding him completely.“Stay down,” Drake whispered, voice low but tight.Jayden opened his mouth. “I…..”“Don’t.” Drake’s hand slid over Jayden’s side, quick and searching. “Are you hit?”Jayden froze. “You….”Drake’s hands moved again, urgently, patting his ribs, his arms, his waist as his fingers trembled just enough to betray him.“Drake…”“Answer m
The contact between them lasted only a second and yet the air changed instantly.Jayden's eyes widened first, then reality slammed back into him as he shoved Drake hard. “We agreed on boundaries.” he said, his voice coming out sharper than he intended.Drake fell off the bed with a loud thud, more from surprise than force and stood up instantly as if to steady the moment itself.Jayden stood stiffly across him, wiping his lips with the back of his hand, his breathing uneven but his gaze refused to settle anywhere near Drake's face.Silence stretched between them. For a fraction of a second, something raw flickered across Drake's expression, confusion and then hurt but disappeared so quickly if almost felt imagined.Drake let out a short laugh that felt wrong. “Relax,” he said, running a hand through his hair. *You're acting like I planned it.”Jayden said nothing, as his fingers still wiped his lips. The distance between them suddenly feeling too enormous.Drake cleared his throat an
Jayden slowly opened the door and stepped inside, every sense on edge. But stilled when he saw a figure standing by the window, hands in his pockets. Drake.Jayden's fingers curled into a fist beside him. “What are you doing here?” he roared.Drake turned, startled at first, then relieved. “Jay…”“
*I said I’ll pay it,” Jayden repeated. “All of it.”Ronan took a step forward, then another, until Jayden’s back hit the wall.Ronan’s hand braced beside his head, caging him in. “Careful,” he murmured. “You have no idea what you’re offering.”Jayden lifted his chin, breath trembling. “You think I
The air in the room seemed to tense as they both sat staring at the television without a word.On the screen, Drake signed, shoulders slumping just enough to look regretful.“I take full responsibility for the altercation,” Drake said, smoothly. “I never wanted this to become public.”Ronan let out
Back at the city, Drake stood against the wall of his penthouse bathroom, blood smeared all over his body and pooling on the spot he stood on. His cold eyes gleamed dangerously as he stared at the bath tub filled with water mixed with ashes. On the floor not far from the bath tub lay a broken whi
