Purple Dress

There is a wise saying, the most dangerous enemy is not an enemy who attacks you suddenly from the front, but an enemy who attacks you secretly, namely the people closest to you. If other people hurt you on purpose, then it's different from them. They often don't realize that their actions hurt other people. Even worse, they continue to commit the same crime under the pretext of "accidentally" or "unintentionally", causing other people to fall into deep sorrow. Is that enough? oh, of course not! Those people will complement their crimes with one final attack, which is the word 'sorry'. An apology that according to them is said sincerely so that it can erase all the mistakes they have ever made. And Sena, hates people like that the most!

Sena drove her car, along the city streets that were not too crowded. Occasionally she glanced at her watch which currently showed seven in the morning. Well, What the reason she was driving so early? What's more, it's a Sunday! A small smile formed at the corner of her lips. Her eyes glanced briefly at the purple box she placed on the passenger seat. There was a strange and tingly excitement rising in her heart every time she saw the box. After driving for a while, she finally arrived at a house she had not visited for a long time. The last time she was here was before she graduated from high school. She didn't get out of her car right away, choosing to stay silent for a moment to stare at the brown painted house before looking at another house that was right next to that brown house. Suddenly a memory flashed in her head. A memory of her standing in front of that house with her clothes soaking wet, crying in the arms of someone who was stroking her head saying,

"Don't worry, I'll always be here for you."

Ah, what a sweet and bitter memory..

Having had enough of the nostalgic feeling in her heart, Sena then walked out of her car, pressed the bell of the brown house in front of her. It didn't take long, a middle-aged woman opened the door of the house. And less than three seconds after the door was opened, Sena was already in that woman's arms.

"Oh lord! How are you darling?! Auntie really missed you!”

Said the woman while hitting Sena's back gently. She then let go of her hug and kissed Sena's forehead several times, making a warm feeling immediately fill Sena's heart. This woman is aunt Rosa, Dira's mother.

"I miss auntie too!"

She then followed Aunt Rosa who pulled her into the house. Her eyes looked at the whole house which was still exactly the same as the last time she saw it. The small purple couch that she often thinks is tacky, the colorful wall hangings that she thinks are too dazzling, to the absurd style of family photos that are displayed everywhere. An ordinary house, but this house is a house that makes her very envious.

To be honest, the first time she was invited to this house, Sena always felt uncomfortable. An uncomfortable feeling because when she saw Dira's family, her heart was like being stabbed by a sharp knife. It was to the extent that she thought that the pain in her heart was because she hated the atmosphere of this house. Actually not the type of family like her family before, which always looks romantic. Sena mostly saw the family nagging or complaining to each other, but in the end, they would always laugh together while discussing things they thought were ridiculous. After coming here several times, Sena realized what was causing her heart to ache. That was because, this house seemed to break her skeptical mind that all families only pretend to look happy, but inside they are also broken, just like her family.

"Oh, where is Uncle?"

Sena asked while handing over the souvenirs she brought.

"Uncle? Ah! He went to the field earlier, there was a soccer match with the elders in this neighborhood-"

"Ah, right, dear, have you had breakfast? Do you want Auntie to make some food? Auntie can make you chicken porridge that you like so much!"

Aunt Rosa asked insistently. One of the most similar characteristics of aunts Rosa and Dira is their fussiness, which Sena is very grateful for. The reason being because of that trait, Sena finally took off her 'strong' mask and showed her heart in front of them.

To be honest, Sena wanted to answer 'not yet' and eat Aunt Rosa's cooking, even though she had already had breakfast at her father's house. Moreover, it wasn't a pleasant breakfast because she had to meet that snake woman again! Urrgh. But it seemed she had to put that desire on hold and focus on her main goal of coming here today. As for enjoying Aunt Rosa's cooking, which she missed so much, she could do it any time. Moreover, she plans to stay long enough in this city.

After telling Aunt Rosa about her purpose for coming so early, Sena then said goodbye and started walking up the stairs that led her to the top floor. Of course she doesn't need to be led, because she is still very familiar with the whole house. She stopped at the door of the room which was to the right of the stairs, then knocked on the door of the room. Without waiting for an answer from the owner of the room, she immediately entered while shouting excitedly,

"Wake up, girl!"

"Let's crash that damn bastard's wedding!"

***

Previously, Sena had said that there were two main events that made she decide not to believe in 'happily ever after'. The first is her father's betrayal, and the second is Dira, her best friend. Ah, it wasn't Dira who committed the betrayal, but Dira's boyfriend since high school who should have become Dira's husband if their relationship was really going like romantic fairy tales.

Apart from being a legend because Dira managed to conquer the cold Sena, Dira also has another very famous legend in their high school. From teachers to garden cleaners, they know the story. The story named as 'beauty and the beast' version of school life.

When they were in high school, Dira had a lover who became the dream of almost all female students at school. The man is named Adlet, the student council president who has many achievements. Not only smart academically, he is also athletic. The face? Extraordinary! The character? Impeccably! And when Adlet suddenly announced that he was dating Dira, the whole school immediately went into an uproar. How come? An almost perfect man suddenly dates a woman who they all think has a standard face, isn't smart, isn't stylish and only knows how to use muscles?! Impossible! Impossible!. Urrgh! Just thinking about their poor evaluation of Dira made Sena feel annoyed. How can they not see how extraordinary Dira is? In fact, according to Sena, it was Adlet who was lucky to get Dira! Her best friend always gives her best for Adlet. Always trying to make Adlet smile and be happy in the midst of the unfair treatment of Adlet's family. Being Adlet's cheerleader even helps him in every way she can. Dira even had to go back and forth to another city that was five hours away from their city to bring Adlet's belongings that he left behind when the man was taking part in a math Olympiad.

Their sweet love story continues until they graduate from high school. After graduating, Sena went abroad with her mother, so she no longer witnessed their love story. She only knew about it from Dira's mouth, every time she called Sena. Then surprisingly, several years ago, Dira stopped calling Sena for a long time. She didn't even answer Sena's calls or messages. Even though Sena still remembers, the night before that, Dira gave the happy news that Adlet proposed to her.

"Will you be the designer of my wedding dress?"

Not even an hour after their call ended, Sena was already busy with her sketchbook and laptop, designing the best wedding dress she would gift Dira. So, what's the reason she suddenly stopped talking about her relationship?

After trying to find out from Deon, then Sena found out what really happened. Dira, who always looks positively at love and sincerity, finally feels how bitter the sharp side of the 'world of love' is. Adlet.. cheated on Dira, and what's worse, Adlet had an affair with Dira's close friend since elementary school. Ah, how disgusting! To be honest, Sena wanted to go straight home to comfort Dira (and of course beat Adlet at the same time). But at that time, Deon asked her to stop her intention. Because Deon said, Dira doesn't want Sena becomes increasingly distrustful of loyalty in love.

"What are you doing so early in the morning?"

Dira stretched on her bed when Sena walked into her room.

Sena then put the purple box on the floor and started pulling the blanket that was still wrapping Dira's body perfectly.

"Didn't I say, let's crash that damn bastard's wedding?"

She said with a cold smile.

For some reason, seeing Sena's smile made Dira get goosebumps. She was reminded of Sena's various nicknames in high school, and the most famous one was 'Cold-blooded General'.

Dira ignored Sena's word and chose to cover herself again with the blanket.

"No, I'm too tired. Yesterday I had to stay up late to finish the prototype volcano which I will show the kids tomorrow.”

"Huh? Come on!"

Dira didn't budge, still covering herself with the blanket.

Seeing Dira's response made Sena sigh. Even though Dira is known for her soft heart (of course not physically), Sena knows best that Dira is a person who has a firm stand. She is very difficult to shake when she has decided something.

Sena finally decided to sit on the study chair, leaning her head while letting out a languid sigh. Alright, looks like she's forced to play her trump card.

"Even though I have deliberately designed a very beautiful dress for you-"

she muttered in a sad voice,

“In fact, this is the first dress that I want to show the world before I start opening my store. Ah, how pitiful I am.. It feels like my efforts were in vain! I haven't even slept in days for this dress, oh god..”

“All right, all right!”

Sena clapped her hands happily when she saw Dira finally giving up. Then, without any further delay, she taking out the dress she had specially designed for Dira from the box. A purple dress that looks simple, but anyone who sees it will admire the elegance that shines through every curve of the fabric.

“Wow!”

Unknowingly, Dira screamed in surprise. Her eyes twinkling when she saw the dress that Sena was now lifting high in front of her face.

"Crazy! You are absolutely amazing, Sen! Even the princess dresses in fairy tales that I often read are still less beautiful than this dress!”

Sena's heart seemed to beat twice as fast when she heard Dira's praise. But of course she tried to keep a deadpan expression on her face to hide her feelings. She then moved her index finger left and right, as if hinting to Dira that she had something else prepared to make Dira amazed. Well, let's do a little magic, isn't the best revenge to show that you live well?
