Lionel's heart was pounding as he searched the area again, scanning desperately for any sign of Iris.

There was nothing.

His gaze dulled. He turned back, got into her car, and drove straight to the police station.

The officers reviewed the dashcam footage and a wide range of security cameras around Whalers' Bay.

The footage showed Iris getting out of the car at 11:53 a.m. She took a selfie, tapped on her phone a few times, then slipped it into her pocket.

She walked toward the shoreline, entered a blind spot in the cameras, and never appeared again. She didn't show up on any other cameras after that.

There were no transportation records, no hotel check-ins, and no recent financial transactions.

"There's a very high chance that Mrs. Potter went into the ocean. We'll send teams to search this area, but the water here is extremely deep, with hidden reefs. If she really entered the sea, the chances of survival are almost zero."

When Lionel heard that, his chest clenched violently.
