Unsurprisingly, he was a bald man now with few white hair stands. Her mom had changed too. Her once light chocolate hair was dyed strawberry blonde.

Her chocolate brown eyes were hidden behind grey contacts.

So many times, when Emerald was alone at night she used to imagine how they looked lately. She once saw their picture displayed as a profile pic on Cassandra’s wall.

But nothing in the world prepared her for those wrinkled faces.

She bit her lower lip to control her whimper.

“Won’t I get a hug?” Same old request by her father. Walking slowly, she went to him. He held her by her shoulders looking at her from head to toe and then gently hugged her to him.

Tears were running down her cheeks. And Anthony Aaron’s shaking shoulders were a telltale sign that he was also crying.
