Rowan had referred to himself by name and not "Dad" or "Daddy". The small gesture appeased Rowley by a little.

Rowley slipped into his soft bedroom slippers and padded toward the window. "I can't sleep anyway, so yeah, we can talk."

Rowan couldn't see Rowley's expression, but he could picture Rowley's proud expression. He sat in his car and lifted his gaze to the bright bedroom window on the second floor of the villa. "Thank you."

Rowan was so polite that even Rowley felt a little awkward. "So, uh, you can go ahead and tell me what this is about. I'm listening."
