Find the Alpha's Mate

"Dad, what's this about?" Heli asks his father once he enters its office. He sees him slumped on his bed, tired eyes gazing straight at him.

"Sit here, Iverson," the old man says, beckoning the aforementioned man to sit on the chair beside his bed.

Heli did as he was told, "So? What are we going to talk about?"

"You knew about what happened to your mate, right?"

Heli stiffens for a moment at the mention of his mate. It took him a few seconds before he regained his composure.

They don't usually talk about his lost mate ever since they were told about the broken prophecy. The result of his mate running away.

And so with a blank expression, he nodded his head. "What about her?"

"We already know where she is."

The young man sat straight on his seat as he leaned closer to his father, "What? When did you find out? Where is she? What is she doing?"

"Hey, hey. Calm down, young man. Let me finish first."

Heli takes several deep breaths before nodding his head as a sign for his father to continue.

The old man clears his throat, "As I was saying, we already know where she is. Your uncle found out about it days ago and he just told me last night. I was about to tell you what he told me but I had an attack."

Heli's brows furrowed, "Is that why you looked so exhausted right now?" He asks in a low voice as he tries to mask his concern. He was clueless about his father's attack since the old man doesn't like it when people find out about his condition worsening.

The old man nods, "I called you as soon as I woke up because I don't want to waste any more time. You have to find her as soon as possible, Iverson."

Heli clenches his fist tightly when he understands what his father is implying through his words yet he tries his best to remain calm, "I will find her. So tell me where she is."

"Find her, okay?"

"I will," Heli mutters. "Where is she?"

The old man sighs before he responds;

"She's in the human world."

-

"Blake. Ro. Kier. Shine. All four of you are coming with me," Heli declares as soon as he enters Blake's room where they all agreed to hang out.

"Huh? Where are we going?" Robin asks.

"To the human world," Heli nonchalantly responds. It caught the four off-guard, Shine even choking on her drink.

"What?" She exclaims in surprise. "All of a sudden?"

"We're going to find my mate there."

At the mention of her mate, everyone instantly turns serious.

"So they've finally got a lead where she is, huh?" Kier mutters.

Heli hums, "But they had no idea who she was."

"Then how did they know she's there?" Blake asks.

"I had no idea either but I trust them," Heli says. "We'll leave tomorrow. Pack all the things you need because we will not return here until we find her."

"Heli... are you in a rush because of your dad?" Shine asks, worry evident in her eyes.

The reminder of his father's state made Heli's heart clenched. He isn't expressive of his emotions and he wasn't the absolute best in showing his affection but he loves his father. He wants him to meet his mate, witness how he builds his own family.

But his father's time is ticking. Heli had no time to waste. He had to find his mate so he could let her meet his father.

Instead of answering Shine, Heli says, "Pack all the things you need. We'll leave before sunrise."

That's all that Heli says before he storms out of the room, leaving the four worried and bewildered.

-

Heli enters his father's room as stealthily as possible although he knows he can hear him. He sat beside him.

"We'll leave today, dad. We're going to the human world to find my mate," Heli mumbles. "I will bring her here, dad. So until then, be strong. Okay? You need to meet her."

There was no response. Heli lets it be as he stays silent for a few minutes before he decides it's time to leave. But just as he was about to step out of the room, he heard a raspy voice speak.

"Be careful, son."

He turns around and sees his father looking at him, eyes slightly opened yet his gold eyes were still clear for Heli to see.

Heli smiles, "I will, dad." He replies before closing the door and heading downstairs where his friends are waiting for him.

"Are you all ready?" He asks them.

They all nodded in response.

"Remember what the elders said. Control yourselves and never show your wolf side to anyone. We can't let humans know that we co-exist in their world," Heli reminds his friends who responds with a salute.

With that, they left the pack house.

-

"Where do we start?" Kier asks, looking at his friends.

All of them turn to Heli, waiting for a response as they all expected him to have a plan once they crossed the boundary that separates the human and werewolves.

But Heli didn't answer. He remains standing, eyes wandering around the place they had stopped by. There were a lot of vehicles and large buildings. The air was polluted, causing the others to cough as they weren't used to smokes since their realm was fresh and clean.

"Heli, it's too polluted here. Let's leave this place," Shine complains, nose scrunching up.

"Why the fuck do they produce so much pollution here and still manages to live for years? I don't think we'll ever survive if our realm is as polluted as this place," Robin added.

"Hey, man. Aren't we going to leave?" Blake asks Heli.

Finally, Heli turns to face them. His face was blank as he stared at them for a few seconds.

"So...?" Shine trails off.

Heli sighs.

"I..." Heli mutters. "... don't have an idea where to go next."

"WHAT?" The four exclaims out of shock.

"Oh, come on, Heli! That can't possibly be true! We left our realm and went to a place we literally had no idea about and you're telling us you had no idea where we're going?" Kier exclaims.

Heli rubs his nape in embarrassment, "I didn't plan this out, okay? I was... in a hurry. I just decided the moment my father told me about my mate."

A series of frustrated groans can be heard from his friends as they complained.

"Hey, calm down," Heli says.

"How can we calm down if we're stuck in the middle of nowhere?" Robin replies.

"I have no plans, but dad told me something," Heli says. "He told me some places we can stay at as well as the place where my mate is studying."

"Don't they have this sort of papers or what that they used as payment?" Shine asks.

Heli nods, "Don't worry about that. All we need to worry about is how to find that place that my father told me about."

"Why don't we ask the people here for directions?" Blake suggests.

"I'll ask! What's the name of the place?"

It was exhausting. The whole trip to the condominium that Heli's father says were just near the place they had stopped by but because of their ignorance to the human world, they had to walk around the place. They asked people how to find it but they'll get lost as they follow the directions they were told to follow.

In the end, it was already night time when they arrived in front of a tall building where a cursive 'Primogen Tower' was written.

"Fucking hell. This is just a few streets away from where we stopped by earlier!" Kier mutters, frustration and exhaustion evident in his voice.

"I got to admit, we're really stupid in following simple instructions," Shine says. "Now that I think of it, the first human we asked was just right. We had to turn left after we walked a few steps from where we were earlier."

"Then just go straight until we passed by three streets and here!" Robin continues.

"Damn humans. Why do they have such a complicated place," Kier says, then he turns to Heli. "What do we do next?"

Heli, who was just silent the whole time, finally spoke.

"My uncle has a unit here. He bought it years ago so that when he has something important to do here in the human world, he has a place to stay at," Heli explains. "He let me use it. We can stay here for as long as we need."

"How about that paper we need?"

"It's called 'money' here," Heli says. "And didn't I tell you not to worry about that? I don't know how uncle has a lot of it, but it isn't something that we need to worry about as we stay here."

"You know what, let's talk it out inside your uncle's unit. My legs are killing me already," Shine interrupts them and heads inside first. The rest just followed, feeling the same way.

The unit was on the fourth floor. They all collectively sighed at the thought of climbing up the stairs since they had no idea how that elevator thing works.

Once they reached the unit, they all slumped on the couch.

"Damn. We really need to study more about how this world works. We'll looked stupid if we continued being ignorant and clueless like this," Blake says.

"We'll have someone help us through our stay here. Uncle told me he'll arrive in two or three days. It depends," Heli says. "We'll just have to wait for him before we make a move."

"What are we going to do while waiting then? Didn't you say we can't waste any more time?" Robin asks.

"We're going to plan things out," Heli responds. "I can't do this alone, so I'm asking for your help. You'll help me, right?" He asks, looking at each one of his friends.

Shine rolls her eyes, "Of course, stupid. We won't come with you here if we're not going to help. Tsk." She says. "And oh, I'm calling this mission Operation: Find the Alpha's mate!"

Heli smiles endearingly at his friend.

"Hmm, we'll start that operation once we plan things out. For now, let's just rest. We had the whole day tomorrow to talk."
